Qatar has not recorded any black fungus infections

Doha: “Black Fungus”, a rare disease but it caused a wave of panic among the vast majority of people, circulating news from here and there all confirming its direct relation to coronavirus “Covid-19”, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of the United States of America, refuted what the vast majority of people have circulated about the disease, explaining that black fungus is a disease caused by mold found in the soil and decaying organic matter such as rotting leaves, and people develop fungi from which there are several types by inhaling fungal cells that can be found in homes and hospitals through air humidifiers or oxygen bottles, and usually affects the sinuses, brain and lungs, and can threaten the lives of people with diabetes or severe immunodeficiency such as cancer patients or people living with HIV

In this context, a number of doctors stressed in statements to “Al-Sharq”, that black fungus is not a new disease, and that it has nothing directly to do with the infection of coronavirus “Covid-19”, and their evidence is that many cases of coronavirus have recovered outside the walls of hospitals, and absolutely refuting the infection of diabetics with this disease, especially since the State of Qatar has a high level of health care that puts diabetics under therapeutic control, which indicates that this disease is not an inevitable disease for this group, especially as it worsens in poor areas and environments with poor health conditions and is active in patients’ immunodeficiency.

الدوحة: “الفطر الأسود”، مرض نادر إلا أنه أحدث موجة من الهلع بين السواد الأعظم من الناس، متداولين أخباراً من هنا وهناك جميعها يؤكد علاقته المباشرة بفيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19″، لتأتي مراكز مكافحة الأمراض والوقاية بالولايات المتحدة الأمريكية، مفندة ما تداوله السواد الأعظم من الناس حيال الداء، موضحة أنَّ الفطر الأسود داء يحدث نتيجة عفن موجود في التربة والمواد العضوية المتحللة مثل الأوراق المتعفنة، ويصاب الناس بداء الفطريات الذي توجد منه عدة أنواع عن طريق استنشاق الخلايا الفطرية التي يمكن أن تنتشر في المنازل والمستشفيات عن طريق أجهزة ترطيب الهواء أو قوارير الأكسجين، وعادة ما يؤثر على الجيوب الأنفية والمخ والرئتين، ويمكن أن يهدد حياة المصابين بالسكري أو المصابين بنقص المناعة الشديد مثل مرضى السرطان أو المصابين بفيروس نقص المناعة المكتسبة.

وفي هذا السياق أكدَّ عدد من الأطباء في تصريحات لـ”الشرق”، أنَّ الفطر الأسود ليس مرضا حديثا، كما أنَّ ليس له علاقة مباشرة بالإصابة بفيروس كورونا “كوفيد – 19″، وأدلتهم على ذلك هو أنَّ الكثير من الحالات التي أصيبت بفيروس كورونا قد تعافت خارج أسوار المستشفيات، مفندين إصابة مرضى السكري بالمطلق بهذا الداء، سيما أن دولة قطر تتمتع بمستوى عال من الرعاية الصحية الذي يجعل مرضى السكري تحت السيطرة العلاجية، الأمر الذي يشير إلى أنَّ هذا المرض ليس مرضا حتميا لهذه الفئة سيما وأنه يتفاقم في المناطق الفقيرة، والبيئات المعدومة صحيا، وينشط عند نقص المناعة لدى المرضى.
