Qatari investments in Italy’s San Fedele Square

Doha: The Italian website milano.corriere published a report confirming the direction of the Qatar Investment Authority towards the development of The Square of San Fedele, one of the most prominent historical monuments of Milan, Italy’s second largest province after the capital Rome,

Revealing that the value of the investments allocated by the Qatar Sovereign Fund to achieve the required development in the arena that it acquired about five years ago is estimated at 500 million euros, pointing out that this investment will be pumped in stages over the next few years,

Based on the statements of Mr. Manfredi Catella, CEO of COIMA Investment and Real Estate Management Group, who is currently responsible for running San Fedele Square and supporting it with the vision of the Qatar Investment Authority.

Katella said that the next phase will see a great focus on the advancement of infrastructure in The Square of San Fedele, where work will be done to provide energy and generate electricity from green sources friendly to the environment, which will keep the most visitor-attracting area in the northern Italian city clean, He stressed that the production of alternative energy to serve the arena will be from the same location, by relying on solar panels and ground heat pumps, announcing that the development works started at the end of last month, after agreeing with milan municipal officials, who expressed their admiration for the future plan of the square,

It includes the renovation of the furniture completely and the increase of the seats on its level, as well as the construction restoration of Via Carlo Cataño and Via Silvio Belico.

The report announced that the organizers of The Square of San Fedele reached a final agreement with their counterparts from the international fashion house “Bottega Veneta”, which specializes in the design of men’s and women’s clothing, on the rental of a commercial space of 10 thousand square meters, and its conversion to the official headquarters of the company in a full 12 years,

This confirms the success of the Qatar Investment Authority project at the level of The Square of San Fedele, which has managed to attract many major brands, which will undoubtedly increase the value of the profits that Qatar earns from its acquisition of this arena, and other projects it holds in Italy as a whole, notably the porta nova business district in the same city, which cost about $2.15 billion years ago.

وقال كاتيلا ان المرحلة المقبلة ستشهد تركيزا كبيرا على النهوض بالبنية التحتية في ساحة سان فيديلي، حيث سيتم العمل على توفير الطاقة وتوليد الكهرباء من مصادر خضراء صديقة للبيئة، مما سيحافظ على نظافة المنطقة الأكثر استقطابا للزوار في مدينة الشمال الإيطالي، مؤكدا أن انتاج الطاقة البديلة لخدمة الساحة سيتم من الموقع ذاته، من خلال الاعتماد على الألواح الشمسية ومضخات الحرارة الأرضية، معلنا أن الأشغال التطويرية انطلقت نهاية الشهر الماضي، وذلك بعد الاتفاق مع مسؤولي بلدية ميلانو، الذين أبدوا اعجابهم بالمخطط المستقبلي للساحة، الذي يضم تجديد المفروشات بالكامل وزيادة المقاعد الموجودة على مستواها، بالإضافة إلى ترميم بناءي لفيا كارلو كاتانيو، وفيا سيلفيو بيليكو.

وأعلن التقرير وصول القائمين على ساحة سان فيديلي إلى اتفاق نهائي مع نظرائهم من دار الأزياء العالمية ” Bottega Veneta ” المتخصصة في تصميم ملابس الرجال والنساء، وذلك بشأن تأجير مساحة تجارية بمساحة 10 آلاف متر مربع، وتحويلها لمقر رسمي للشركة في مدة 12 سنة كاملة، وهو ما يؤكد نجاح مشروع جهاز قطر للاستثمار على مستوى ساحة سان فيديلي التي تمكنت من استقطاب العديد من العلامات الكبرى، مما سيزيد من دون أي شك من قيمة الأرباح التي تجنيها قطر من استحواذها على هذه الساحة، وغيرها من المشاريع التي تحوز عليها في إيطاليا كاملة وفي مقدمتها حي “بورتا نوفا” للأعمال في ذات المدينة، التي كلفها حوالي 2.15 مليار دولار قبل سنوات من الآن.
