Most unusual Mammatus clouds appear in the sky of Qatar

The official account of the Meteorological Department of the General Authority for Civil Aviation published pictures of the appearance of Mammatus clouds in the skies of the country.

According to Qatar Meteorology, Mammatus clouds are amongst the most unusual and distinctive forms of clouds, as a series of bulges or bags emerge from the base of the cloud, usually formed after the most difficult part of a thunderstorm passes.

The Mammatus or “breast” cloud is a term in weather science to describe the cellular form of wrinkles or bulges under a basic cloud, and these clouds do not pose a threat and do not predict the arrival of hurricanes and usually decompose after a few hours or days, according to Wikipedia.

The wind plays an important role in the formation of clouds and the diversity of their shapes and forms, and Mammatus clouds are of the forms that wind movement may compose; it may also be in the form of longitudinal tubes, contiguous hemispheres or hair ripples, and may take two forms at the same time. These clouds seem terrifying in shape, the strangest types of clouds a person may see in their life.

ووفقا لأرصاد قطر فإن سحب الماماتوس هي من أشكال السحب الأكثر غرابةً وتميزاً، نظراً لبروز سلسلة من الانتفاخات أو الحقائب من قاعدة السحابة، وعادة ما تتشكل بعد مرور الجزء الأصعب من العاصفة الرعدية.

كما أن الماماتوس أو السحابة الصدرية هو مصطلح في علم الطقس يطلق على الشكل الخلوي لتجعدات أو رزم تحت سحابة أساسية، وهذه السحب لا تشكل خطراً ولا تنبئ بقدوم أعاصير وهي في العادة تتحلل بعد بضعة ساعات أو أيام وفقا لموقع ويكيبيديا.

وتلعب الرياح دوراً مهماً في تشكل السحب وتنوع أشكالها وصورها، وسُحب الماماتوس هي من الصور التي قد تُشكلها حركة الرياح؛ وقد تكون كذلك على هيئة أنابيب طولية أو أنصاف كور متجاورة أو كتموجات الشعر، وقد تتشكل بصورتين في نفس الوقت. وتبدو هذه السحب مرعبة الشكل، وهي أغرب أنواع السحب التي قد يشاهدها الإنسان في حياته.
