Ashghal Partially Opens Nuaija Intersection

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has partially opened Nuaija Intersection on D-Ring Road before traffic in all directions after developing and expanding the junction, streamlining access to neighboring areas including Najma, Al Hilal, Nuaija and Old Airport. The opening is implemented in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic.

Eng. Abdulla Darwish from the Highway Projects Department confirmed that the opening of Nuaija Intersection would streamline traffic movement in the region, for those coming to and from Najma, Al Hilal, Nuaija and Old Airport via D-Ring Road on one side and Najma Street on the other side. He indicated that the D-Ring Road development works are completed up to 50 percent, and the project is scheduled to be delivered in the first quarter of 2022.

The opening of Nuaija Intersection is the second achievement among D-Ring Road development project after opening of Lulu Intersection, which includes development of Fereej Al-Ali Interchange (Al-Tadamon Interchange), Nuaija Intersection (the Mall) and Lulu Intersection. This opening will enhance capacity of all the intersections and reduce traffic congestion in the area, especially at highly congested Fereej Al-Ali Interchange (Al-Tadamon Interchange).

The improvement works within the project also include developing rainwater drainage networks to raise the efficiency of drainage in the area, by constructing a stormwater drainage tunnel with a total length of about 3.5 km.

The project also includes construction of common path for pedestrian and cyclists on both sides of D-Ring Road along 4.5 kilometers, in addition to tree-plantation and landscaping works throughout the project.

الدوحة: افتتحت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال”، تقاطع نعيجة على الطريق الدائري الرابع بشكل جزئي أمام الحركة المرورية في جميع الاتجاهات بعد تطوير التقاطع وتوسعته ليسهل الوصول إلى مناطق نجمة والهلال ونعيجة والمطار العتيق، وذلك بالتنسيق مع الإدارة العامة للمرور.

وأكد المهندس عبدالله درويش، من إدارة مشروعات الطرق السريعة بالهيئة، أن افتتاح تقاطع نعيجة يسهل الحركة المرورية في المنطقة خصوصاً أمام القادمين من وإلى نجمة والهلال ونعيجة والمطار العتيق عبر الطريق الدائري الرابع من جهة، وشارع نجمة من جهة أخرى، مشيراً إلى أنه تم إنجاز نحو 50 بالمائة من أعمال تطوير الدائري الرابع، كما أنه من المقرر الانتهاء من المشروع في الربع الأول من عام 2022.

وأوضح أن افتتاح تقاطع نعيجة يعتبر ثاني إنجاز على مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الرابع بعد افتتاح تقاطع اللولو ما يسهم تعزيز القدرة الاستيعابية للتقاطعات التي يشملها الطريق وتقليل الازدحام المروري في المنطقة بشكل جيد، خصوصاً على تقاطع فريج العلي (المعروف بتقاطع التضامن) الذي يشهد حركة مرورية كثيفة.

وأضاف أن أعمال التحسينات التي سيتم تنفيذها ضمن مشروع تطوير الطريق الدائري الرابع تشمل رفع كفاءة شبكات تصريف مياه الأمطار من خلال إنشاء نفق لتصريفها بطول إجمالي يصل إلى حوالي 3.5 كم. كما تتضمن أعمال المشروع تنفيذ مسار مشترك للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية على جانبي الطريق بطول أربعة ونصف كيلومترات، بالإضافة إلى أعمال التشجير على امتداد المشروع وكذلك تم الاهتمام بالتراث القطري للمنطقة المحيطة بالمشروع والمعروفة باسم روضة الخيل أثناء تصميم العناصر الجمالية للنفق الذي سيتم إنشاؤه ضمن المشروع، حيث إنه من المقرر تنفيذ جداريات مستوحاة من التراث القطري داخل النفق.
