Mandatory hotel quarantine for travellers from six countries, even if vaccinated

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) announced that due to the emergence of a new strain of the COVID-19 virus in India, and in order to preserve public health in the State of Qatar, it was decided that no exceptions to the hotel quarantine policy will apply and that the following measures should be implemented for travelers coming from India, Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and the Philippines, whether they are travelling through direct flight or via other countries (transit), which include:

1. All passengers whose original flight is from the said countries are subject to mandatory COVID-19 PCR Test done 48 hours before departure from the testing centers approved by their local health authority. Knowing that no one can board the flight to Qatar without a valid Negative PCR certificate.

2. All arrivals from those countries must undergo (10) days quarantine in a dedicated quarantine facility, or (14) days if quarantined at Mekhaines facility.

3. Home quarantine criteria is not applicable for travelers coming from these countries, including the exemptions due to vaccination or recovery from a previous infection with the virus during the past six months.

4. All arrivals from those countries must undergo a repeat COVID-19 PCR test at the quarantine facility within one day of arrival. Knowing that the PCR test will be repeated during and before the end of the quarantine period.

5. All passengers transiting through Qatar must have the mandatory pre-travel PCR test as mentioned in point 1, and in case they require another PCR test for their onward destination, they can have it at Hamad International Airport a standard fee of QAR 300/- per test.

The Ministry affirmed, in a statement, that it is closely monitoring the situation, and taking the necessary measures in accordance with public health indicators in the State of Qatar and worldwide, encouraging the population to adhere to the precautionary measures in order to preserve the health and safety of everyone.

It is known that the new strains, including the one discovered in India, are more capable of spreading, and more research is being conducted at the present time to identify the speed of this spread and the extent of its impact on the lives of those infected with it.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة الصحة العامة، أنه نظرا لظهور سلالة جديدة من فيروس كورونا /كوفيد – 19/ في الهند، وحفاظا على الصحة العامة في دولة قطر، تقرر عدم سريان أي استثناءات من الحجر الفندقي وتطبيق الإجراءات التالية على القادمين من كل من الهند ونيبال وبنغلاديش وباكستان وسريلانكا والفلبين، سواء كانوا قادمين لدولة قطر برحلة مباشرة أو عبر دول أخرى (ترانزيت).

وتشمل الإجراءات:

– إجراء فحص فيروس كورونا بتقنية /بي سي آر PCR/ قبل (48) ساعة من المغادرة من مركز صحي معتمد من قبل الجهة الصحية المحلية في البلد الذي يقدم منه المسافر، علماً بأنه لن يُسمح لأي شخص بصعود الطائرة دون شهادة تثبت خلوه من الفيروس.

– سيخضع جميع القادمين من تلك الدول للحجر الصحي الإلزامي لمدة (10) أيام في المنشآت المخصصة لذلك، أو لمدة (14) يومًا في نزل مكينس.

– لن يتم تطبيق معايير الحجر الصحي المنزلي على المسافرين القادمين من الدول المذكورة أعلاه، ولن يتم استثناء من تلقوا جرعتي اللقاح أو المتعافين من إصابة سابقة بالفيروس خلال الأشهر الستة الماضية.

– إجراء فحص /كوفيد – 19/ بتقنية /بي سي آر PCR/ لجميع القادمين من الدول المذكورة أعلاه خلال يوم من وصولهم للمنشآت المخصصة للحجر الصحي أو نزل مكينس، وستتم إعادة الفحص خلال وقبل مدة انتهاء الحجر الصحي.

– يجب أن يحضر جميع المسافرين عبر دولة قطر شهادة تثبت خلوهم من الفيروس قبل السفر كما هو مذكور في النقطة الأولى، ولكن في حال حاجتهم لإجراء فحص آخر لتلبية متطلبات وجهة السفر، يمكنهم إجراء الفحص في مطار حمد الدولي بمقابل رسوم مالية قدرها (300) ريال لكل فحص.

وأكدت الوزارة، في بيان لها، أنها تراقب الوضع عن كثب، وتتخذ الإجراءات اللازمة وفقا لمؤشرات الصحة العامة في دولة قطر وبقية دول العالم، مشددة على ضرورة عدم التهاون في اتباع الإجراءات الاحترازية حفاظا على صحة وسلامة الجميع.

يذكر أن فيروس كورونا /كوفيد 19/ لديه قابلية للتغيير، والمعروف حتى الآن أن السلالات الجديدة، ومن ضمنها السلالة المكتشفة في الهند أقدر على الانتشار، ويجرى في الوقت الراهن المزيد من البحوث للتعرف على سرعة هذا الانتشار ومدى تأثيره على حياة المصابين به.
