CRA Qatar warns of WhatsApp hacking attempts
“تنظيم الاتصالات” تحذر من اختراق حسابات المستخدمين على الواتساب
Doha: Beware of hacking attempts targeting WhatsApp users warned a social media post by the Communications Regulatory Authority as it asked users to enable the two-step verification feature for additional safety.
Explaining how WhatsApp accounts has been hacked, the CRA stated that “hackers uses your mobile number to create a new WhatsApp account, so you will receive an SMS message from WhatsApp with a six-digit verification code.”
The hacker then convinces the users in several ways to share this code, and once the hacker gets it, the person then gets control of the WhatsApp account, further communicating with your contacts to defraud them by impersonating the user.
The CRA in their tweet requested users to enable two-step verification feature and not to share this code with anyone.

يقوم المخترق بإدخال رقم هاتفك الجوال لإنشاء حساب جديد وبالتالي ستتلقى رسالة نصية من الواتساب تحتوي على رمز التحقق المكون من 6 أرقام.
يحاول المخترق إقناعك بطرق متعددة أن ترسل له هذا الرمز, وفي حال حصوله عليه سيمنعك من التحكم بحسابك ويتواصل مع جهات الاتصال لديك للاحتيال عليهم منتحلا شخصيتك.
ولتجنب ذلك دعت الهيئة إلى الحرص على تفعيل خاصية التحقق بخطوتين وعدم مشاركة رمز التحقق مع أي شخص.
