Bogota: The Ministry of Sports in Colombia has confirmed that the country will host its part of the matches of the South American Cup of Nations (Copa America) next June, despite the ongoing pandemic but it will do so without the presence of the public.

Colombia’s Sports Minister Ernesto Lucena Barrero said “The Copa America will be safer than ever before, but fans in the country will not be allowed to attend even though Confederation CONMEBOL hopes that 30 percent of the stadium capacity will be filled.”

In turn, the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez, who is participating in Colombia, has recently questioned the feasibility of the tournament during the period of closure and school closures.

The Argentine national team will host its Chilean counterpart in the opening match at the Monumental Stadium in Buenos Aires on June 13, while the final match will be held at the Metropolitano Stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia, on July 10.

Brazil, the defending champion, plays in the group that includes Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru, while Argentina plays in the group that includes Chile, Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia.

وأوضح السيد إيرنيستو لوسينا باريرو وزير الرياضة الكولومبي في تصريح له ، ” أن بطولة كوبا أمريكا ستكون آمنة أكثر من أي وقت مضى، ولكن لن يسمح للجماهير في البلاد بالحضور رغم أن الاتحاد القاري كونميبول يأمل أن تمتلئ 30 في المئة من سعة الاستادات”.

بدوره، شكك رئيس الأرجنيتن ألبرتو فرنانديز التي تشارك كولومبيا تنظيم البطولة، مؤخرا في جدوى البطولة خلال فترة الغلق وإغلاق المدارس.

ويستضيف المنتخب الأرجنتيني نظيره التشيلي في المباراة الافتتاحية على ملعب /مونومنتال/ في /بوينس آيرس/ يوم 13 يونيو المقبل، بينما تقام المباراة النهائية يوم 10 يوليو المقبل في ملعب /متروبوليتانو/ بمدينة /بارانكويلا/ الكولومبية.

ويلعب المنتخب البرازيلي، حامل اللقب، في المجموعة التي تضم منتخبات كولومبيا وفنزويلا، والإكوادور، وبيرو، بينما يلعب المنتخب الأرجنتيني في المجموعة التي تضم تشيلي، وأوروجواي، وباراجواي، وبوليفيا.
