Free apps & tips to find a stolen or missing iPhone

Doha: The loss or theft of smartphones is a big problem for their owners not only because of their price and material loss but because of photos and personal information.

Each phone has an International Mobile Equipment Identity number (IMEI) that can be useful if your device is stolen or lost somewhere, where you can blacklist an IMEI that others can’t use, according to Russia Today’s website.

The phone that is listed in the blacklist IMEI will not work even with a new SIM card. Fortunately, it is very easy to know this number and can be recorded in a safe place to use when needed.

Regarding iPhone, a report for Russia Today explained that there are a range of easy ways to track the device and make sure it is safe from thieves and contribute to finding your Apple device when it is lost:

1: Find My app

• It is an application from Apple integrated into all its devices. It can be used to locate lost devices on the map, which is great for tracking lost or stolen phones.
• It is also possible to remotely reset your iPhone, or any other Apple device, to prevent thieves from obtaining your information or files.
• – If you lose your iPhone, open Find My app on another Apple device that’s signed in with your Apple ID.

– If you don’t have a secondary device, you can access the feature on iCloud.com/find (you’ll need to sign in with your Apple ID).

– You’ll see a map showing the locations of all your Apple tools.

– Click on “All Devices” at the top of the page and select the tool you’re looking for to view where it is.

2: Turn on the alarm sound

If your mobile phone is missing in your home or office but you are still unable to locate it, you can force it to make loud noises, even if it’s in silent mode.

Apple’s iCloud storage software features an unknown feature that lets you “test your phone’s connection”, forcing it to issue a quick warning.

This is the easiest way for Apple Watch owners to just scroll up on your watch screen, and then click the iPhone-like button with sound waves.

Anyone with another Apple gadget, such as an iPad or iPod Touch, can download the Find My Phone app.

Once you’ve installed the app, click the lost iPhone, and then press the “Play Audio” button. This will force the iPhone to make sound, even if it is in silent mode.

If you don’t have other Apple devices, your next best option is to sign in to iCloud.com. From there, click the “Find the phone” button and select the device you’re looking for, then click “Play audio.”

3: Alternative applications

If you don’t want to use Find My Phone for any reason, there’s a range of alternative apps at your disposal.

4: Tracking tool

If you’re constantly losing your phone, you might want to consider investing in a smartphone tracking device.

Tile technology company’s tool, for example, lets you locate devices using the smartphone app.

The tracking device can be connected to your bag, keychain or phone to help you avoid losing it. Apple is rumored to be working on its own version of the technology, a tool believed to be called AirTags.
