HBKU Presents Webinar on Heart and Brain Diseases

Doha: Demonstrating its commitment to providing essential educational and research training, the College of Health and Life Sciences (CHLS) at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) held an online webinar for physicians, focusing on the early detection of cardiovascular and brain diseases.

The CPD-accredited webinar was delivered by two eminent experts in the field, Dr. Charalambos Antoniades, Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Oxford, where he also heads the Acute Vascular Imaging Centre; and Dr. Pedram Parva, Assistant Professor in Radiology at Boston University, and lecturer at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Ayman Al Haj Zen, Assistant Professor and Chair of CPD committee, CHLS, moderated the webinar.

Dr. Antoniades talked about developing a new biomarker that detects inflammation in the human coronary arteries by analysing the changes of computerized tomography (CT) attenuation of perivascular fat tissue. Participants also heard from Dr. Parva about the latest advances in early detection technologies using MRI imaging of perivascular spaces to help diagnose different brain diseases.

Speaking after the webinar, Dr. Edward Stuenkel, Founding Dean, CHLS, said: “We remain focused on supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare through highly-trained medical professionals to fulfill the Qatar National Vision 2030.

We are therefore determined to support the development of such a cadre of health professionals through our academic programs and seminars that offer knowledge and insights into the latest tools, approaches, and solutions to pressing healthcare challenges,” Dr. Stuenkel added.

الدوحة: عقدت كلية العلوم الصحية والحيوية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة ندوة عبر الإنترنت للأطباء، ركزت على الكشف المبكر عن أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية والدماغ ضمن برامج التدريبية في مجالات التعليم والبحوث.

قدم هذه الندوة المعتمدة من المجلس القطري للتخصصات الصحية متحدثان بارزان في هذا المجال، وهما الدكتور كارالامبوس أنطونيادس أستاذ ورئيس مركز تصوير أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية الحادة في جامعة أكسفورد والدكتور بدرام بارفا أستاذ مساعد في طب الأشعة بجامعة بوسطن ومحاضر في كلية الطب بجامعة هارفارد، وأدارها الدكتور أيمن الحاج زين الأستاذ المساعد ورئيس لجنة التطوير المهني المستمر بكلية العلوم الصحية والحيوية.

تحدثت الندوة عن تطوير مؤشر حيوي جديد يكتشف الالتهابات في الشرايين التاجية عبر تحليل التغيرات المتعلقة بتوهين الأنسجة الدهنية المحيطة بالأوعية الدموية التي تظهر في فحص التصوير المقطعي المحوسب، وكذلك أحدث التطورات في تقنيات الكشف المبكر التي تستخدم أدوات التصوير بالرنين المغناطيسي للمساحات المحيطة بالأوعية الدموية للمساعدة في تشخيص أمراض الدماغ المختلفة.

وعقب انتهاء الندوة، أوضح الدكتور إدوارد ستونكيل، العميد المؤسس لكلية العلوم الصحية والحيوية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة أن الكلية تركز على دعم الجهود التي تبذلها دولة قطر لتقديم مستوى راق من الرعاية الصحية على أيدي متخصصين طبيين مدربين تدريبا عاليا حسب المتطلبات اللازمة لتحقيق رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.

وأضاف أن أمراض القلب والأوعية الدموية تعتبر السبب الأول للوفاة بفعل الإصابة بالأمراض غير المعدية في دولة قطر، لذا فإن ضمان التشخيص المبكر لهذه الأمراض يمثل أولوية رئيسية، مؤكدا على دعم الكلية لتطوير مهارات الكوادر المتخصصة في قطاع الرعاية الصحية من خلال برامجها وندواتها الأكاديمية التي تقدم المعرفة والرؤى حول أحدث الأدوات والسبل والحلول لتحديات الرعاية الصحية الملحة.
