QP Signs Long-Term SPA with China’s Sinopec

Doha: Qatar Petroleum (QP) on Monday entered into a 10-year LNG Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) with China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec) for the supply of 2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of LNG to the People’s Republic of China.
The SPA was signed by HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi, and the Chairman of Sinopec Group Zhang Yuzhuo during a virtual ceremony attended by senior officials from both sides.
Under the agreement, LNG deliveries will commence in January 2022, and will be delivered to Sinopecs LNG terminals in China. This SPA further demonstrates the State of Qatars continued commitment to meeting the growing energy demand of its customers globally in the form of reliable long term LNG supplies.
Commenting on this occasion, HE Minister of State for Energy Affairs, the President and CEO of Qatar Petroleum Saad bin Sherida Al Kaabi said, “In a step that will further solidify the excellent bilateral relations between the Peoples Republic of China and the State of Qatar, we are delighted to enter into this historic long term LNG SPA. We are also proud of the fact that this agreement will be Sinopecs first long term LNG SPA from Qatar, and we are hopeful that it will mark the start of a long and fruitful partnership with Sinopec. Our LNG relationship with China dates back to 2009, when we started supplying LNG through a host of LNG SPAs with a number of our valued Chinese partners.”
This SPA will further supplement Qatars contribution in meeting China’s growing energy needs and we look forward to commencing deliveries under the agreement, HE added.
HE Minister Al Kaabi concluded his remarks by saying, “This SPA also illustrates our position in the market as a reliable and trust-worthy LNG supplier, and we are grateful to all our customers around the world who
select us as their LNG supplier of choice.”
For his part, Chairman of Sinopec Group, Zhang Yuzhuo said, “Sinopec has been a strong advocate for cleaner and greener development. The signing of the long term LNG SPA with Qatar Petroleum is a further step by Sinopec to deliver its commitment to sustainability while meeting the growing needs of the Chinese market. We believe achieving carbon emission peak and carbon neutrality are responsibilities of the energy industry and call for transformation. We are proud to team up with Qatar Petroleum, one of the premier suppliers in the industry, to supply cleaner energy to China. We are also excited to begin a new journey of more comprehensive cooperation with Qatar Petroleum in the years to come.”
The CEO of Qatargas, Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Thani, commented on the new SPA: “This landmark agreement comes as a boost to the existing relationship with our Chinese customers. As the Worlds Premier LNG Company, Qatargas is committed to meeting the clean energy needs of customers around the globe who depend on reliable LNG deliveries.”
Since the first LNG delivery in September 2009 to date, Qatar has supplied China with more than 62 million tons of LNG. China is a key and strategic energy partner for the State of Qatar throughout the entire energy value chain. It is also a main driver of the growth in the global LNG market as the government adopts increasingly progressive environmental policies.

الدوحة: وقعت قطر للبترول يوم الأمس، اتفاقية بيع وشراء طويلة الأمد مع شركة الصين للنفط والكيماويات “سينوبيك”، تزود بموجبها مليوني طن سنوياً من الغاز الطبيعي المسال إلى جمهورية الصين الشعبية.
وقع الاتفاقية كل من سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريده الكعبي، وزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة، العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لقطر للبترول، والسيد جانغ يوجو رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة سينوبيك، خلال حفل توقيع عقد عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي، بحضور كبار المسؤولين من كلا الجانبين.
وبموجب الاتفاقية، ستبدأ عمليات تسليم الغاز الطبيعي المسال في يناير 2022، إلى محطات استقبال سينوبيك للغاز الطبيعي المسال في الصين.
وتعكس هذه الاتفاقية التزام دولة قطر المستمر بتلبية الاحتياجات المتزايدة لعملائها حول العالم وتوفير إمدادات موثوقة من الغاز الطبيعي المسال.
وفي تعليق له بهذه المناسبة، قال سعادة المهندس سعد بن شريده الكعبي، وزير الدولة لشؤون الطاقة، العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لقطر للبترول: “في خطوة تعزز علاقة دولة قطر الوطيدة مع جمهورية الصين الشعبية، نشعر بالسعادة والاعتزاز بالتوقيع على اتفاقية البيع والشراء التاريخية هذه، والتي تشكل بداية لشراكة طويلة الأمد مع شركة سينوبيك”.. مضيفا أن “هذه الاتفاقية طويلة الأمد تتميز بكونها الأولى لسينوبيك لشراء لغاز الطبيعي المسال من قطر، ويعود تاريخ شراكتنا في مجال الغاز الطبيعي المسال مع الصين إلى عام 2009، عندما بدأنا بتوريده من خلال مجموعة من الاتفاقيات المماثلة، مع عدد من شركائنا الصينيين الموقرين”.
وأكد أن هذه الاتفاقية ستعزز من قدرة دولة قطر على تلبية احتياجات الصين المتزايدة من الطاقة.. مشيرا إلى تطلعه لبدء عمليات التسليم بموجب الاتفاقية.
واختتم سعادة الوزير الكعبي تصريحه قائلاً: “تعكس هذه الاتفاقية استمرار موقعنا القيادي في السوق، وثقة عملائنا حول العالم باعتبارنا الشريك المفضل لتلبية احتياجاتهم من الغاز الطبيعي المسال”.
ومن جهته، قال السيد جانغ يوجو رئيس مجلس إدارة مجموعة سينوبيك: “لطالما كانت سينوبيك مدافعاً قوياً عن تنمية أنظف وأكثر اعتباراً للبيئة. ويعد توقيع هذه الاتفاقية طويلة الأمد مع قطر للبترول خطوة أخرى من جانب شركة سينوبيك للوفاء بالتزاماتها تجاه الاستدامة وبتلبية الاحتياجات المتزايدة للسوق الصيني. وإننا نعتقد أن تحقيق ذروة انبعاثات الكربون وحياد الكربون هي مسؤوليات تتحملها صناعة الطاقة، ونحن ندعو إلى التحول. نحن فخورون بالتعاون مع قطر للبترول، أحد الموردين الرئيسيين في الصناعة، لتزويد الصين بطاقة أنظف. كما يسعدنا أن نبدأ رحلة جديدة من تعاون أكثر شمولاً مع قطر للبترول في السنوات القادمة”.
من جانبه، صرح الشيخ خالد بن خليفة آل ثاني، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة قطرغاز قائلاً: “تأتي هذه الاتفاقية التاريخية تعزيزاً لعلاقاتنا الحالية مع عملائنا الصينيين. بصفتها الشركة الأولى للغاز الطبيعي المسال في العالم، تلتزم قطرغاز بتلبية احتياجات الطاقة النظيفة لعملائها في جميع أنحاء العالم، الذين يعتمدون على عمليات تسليم موثوقة للغاز الطبيعي المسال”.
ومنذ تسليم الشحنة الأولى من الغاز الطبيعي المسال في سبتمبر 2009، قامت قطرغاز حتى الآن بتوريد أكثر من 62 مليون طن من الغاز الطبيعي المسال إلى الصين. وتعد الصين شريكاً رئيسياً واستراتيجياً لدولة قطر في مجال الطاقة عبر مختلف مكوناتها، وفي مقدمتها الغاز الطبيعي المسال. كما تعتبر الصين محركاً رئيسياً للنمو في سوق الغاز الطبيعي المسال، حيث تتبنى الحكومة سياسات بيئية متقدمة بشكل متزايد.
