مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء يستضيف ورشة عمل حول الاستدامة لدعم قطاع الفنادق

Doha: Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science, and Community Development, recently hosted the first in a series of workshops on Green Hotels for Qatar – Challenges and Pathways, in partnership with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy (SC) and supported by Qatar National Tourism Council (QNTC).
The first workshop was held during a three-day virtual session and focused on Environmental Management and Policies, F&B, saw industry professionals, including hotel general managers, directors of engineering, housekeeping, and F&B staff, come together to identify current operational challenges.
During workshop sessions, attendees explored ways in which current challenges can be resolved with the support of national stakeholders while also highlighting the best practices from certified green hotels in Qatar and how best to make these scalable.
Commenting on the workshop series, QGBC Director Eng. Meshal Al Shamari, said: “QGBC is delighted with the overwhelming success of the first part of the workshop series designed to support and further drive sustainability within Qatars hospitality sector.
“We are honored to join hands with the Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy and Qatar National Tourism Council to provide this invaluable platform for fruitful discussion that will contribute to sustainable transformation within the hotel sector,” he added.
For her part, SC’s Environmental & Sustainability Senior Manager Eng. Bodour Al Meer, SC, said: “We are less than two years away from hosting the FIFA World Cup 2022, and have been on an extraordinary journey over the last decade with our various stakeholders to ensure sustainable delivery of the event that will leave a lasting legacy.
“Whilst we have achieved great progress in this regard, maintaining this green momentum is of crucial importance as we transition into refining the operational planning leading to and during the tournament including that associated with hospitality. We are pleased to be partnering with the Qatar Green Building Council in delivering these workshops, which we are certain will be invaluable in tackling the challenges facing the sector and lead to increased green and sustainable practices.”
The second and third workshops will be held in March and May respectively. Outcomes from the workshop series will be documented and published in a joint report in November 2021.

الدوحة: استضاف مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء، عضو مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع، أول حلقة من سلسلة ورش العمل حول “الفنادق الخضراء في قطر.. التحديات والمسارات”، التي تعقد بالشراكة مع اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، وبدعم من المجلس الوطني للسياحة في قطر.
وعقدت ورشة العمل الأولى عبر تقنية الاتصال المرئي واستمرت ثلاثة أيام، وتمحورت حول الإدارة والسياسات البيئية، بمشاركة متخصصين ومديري فنادق ومسؤولي الخدمات الهندسية والتنظيفات، والعاملين في مجال المأكولات والمشروبات، لمناقشة التحديات التشغيلية الحالية.
وخلال جلسات الورشة، استكشف الحاضرون الطرق التي يمكن من خلالها مواجهة التحديات الحالية بدعم من الجهات المعنية الرسمية، مع إبراز أفضل الممارسات المستدامة من الفنادق الخضراء المعتمدة في قطر وأفضل السبل لتطويرها، كما تضمنت عروضا تقديمية من متخصصين في قطاع الفنادق.
وأعرب المهندس مشعل الشمري، مدير مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء، عن سعادته بالنجاح الكبير الذي حققته ورشة العمل الأولى لدعم وتعزيز الاستدامة في قطاع الضيافة في قطر، والتعاون البناء مع اللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، والمجلس الوطني للسياحة في قطر لتوفير هذه المنصة القيمة للنقاش المثمر الذي من شأنه أن يساهم في تحقيق التحول المستدام داخل القطاع الفندقي.
من جانبها قالت المهندسة بدور المير، مديرة الاستدامة والبيئة باللجنة العليا للمشاريع والإرث، إنه لم يعد يفصلنا عن استضافة مونديال كرة القدم 2022 بدولة قطر إلا أقل من عامين، لافتة إلى أن الرحلة الاستثنائية التي بدأتها اللجنة مع شركائها منذ أكثر من عشر سنوات تضمن تنظيم بطولة مستدامة تترك إرثا يدوم للأجيال المقبلة.
وأوضحت أنه رغم الإنجازات التي استطاعت اللجنة تحقيقها خلال السنوات الماضية، إلا أنه من المهم مواصلة هذه الجهود على صعيد الاستدامة في مرحلة تشهد تحسين الخطط التشغيلية على الطريق إلى المونديال وخلال منافساته، ومن بينها تلك الخطط المتعلقة بالضيافة، معربة عن سعادتها بالتعاون مع مجلس قطر للمباني الخضراء لتنظيم ورش العمل التي ستترك أثرا هاما في التعامل مع التحديات التي يواجهها القطاع في سبيل تعزيز الممارسات والخضراء والمستدامة في مجال الضيافة.
يذكر أن المجلس سينظم ورشتين إضافيتين في مارس الجاري ومايو المقبل، على أن يتم توثيق أهم النتائج التي تم التوصل إليها خلال هذه الورش ضمن تقرير شامل ينشر في نوفمبر المقبل.
