Qatar Chamber Holds Qatar-Ukraine Business Meeting

Doha: The Qatar Chamber, in cooperation with the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, held on Wednesday the “Qatar-Ukraine Business Meeting” via video conferencing, which aimed to review aspects of cooperation between the Qatari private sector and its Ukrainian counterpart as well as explore investment opportunities available in both countries.

Addressing the meeting, HE Minister of Finance of Ukraine Serhii Marchenko, said there is a common desire between both sides to enhance their relations at all levels, especially in commercial and economic aspects and that both countries businessmen are keen to increase their partnerships and identify the available opportunities in the most important sectors in both countries.

He also indicated that the past year has seen a considerable surge in the two countries bilateral trade, affirming that this year would witness more cooperation, activities and meetings with the aim to enhance cooperation in some sectors such as energy, agriculture and financial services, pointing out to the close cooperation between the financial institutions of the two countries.

For his part, HE QC First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari, said that the State of Qatar and the Republic of Ukraine are associated with strong and close relations in all fields. Both countries have greatly managed to develop their relations within the past few years through intensifying cooperation on various areas and exchanging visits between leaders and officials, noting that the two countries have exchanged and signed a number of bilateral agreements in diverse fields towards deepening and enhancing the mutual cooperation.

He added that despite these distinct relations, the two countries bilateral trade is still below the aspirations. In 2019, the two countries trade exchange reached $ 87 million, while it exceeded $ 97 million last year, pointing out that Qatar Chamber hosted many trading delegations from Ukraine in the past few years, assuring that these meetings have contributed to further enhancing the cooperation ties between the two chambers which signed in 2014 a memorandum of understating to establish a Qatari-Ukrainian business council with the aim facilitating cooperation between businessmen from both sides.

He stated that Qatar Chamber welcomes the Ukrainian companies to invest in Qatar and it will provide support to the Ukrainian businessmen desired to invest in the State of Qatar and establish real partnership with their Qatari counterparts, expressing his hope to see more commercial partnerships and economic alliances between the Qatari private sector and its Ukrainian counterpart.

HE QC’s First Vice Chairman Mohamed bin Ahmed bin Twar Al Kuwari invited the Ukrainian companies to invest in Qatar, where there are a wide range of investment opportunities in all sectors and called Qatari companies to explore the investment opportunities in Ukraine in all sectors, especially in food security and agriculture areas.

As for Qatars investment climate, he indicated that the State of Qatar, under the wise leadership of the Amir HE Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has accomplished great achievements and made impressive strides in many areas. It has developed a very sophisticated infrastructure and issued a slew of economic legislation that placed Qatar among the worlds top destinations for investments and business.

Gennadiy Chyzhykov, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, praised the distinguished relations between Qatar and Ukraine, stressing the interest of both countries to further develop their cooperation in many fields, especially in food security and energy. He called Qatari investors to invest in his country and benefit from the incentives and opportunities offered for foreign investors.

HE Hadi Bin Nasser Mansour Al-Hajri, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Ukraine, stressed that there is a plenty of opportunities for cooperation between both countries, noting that QTerminals in the Ukrainian Olivia Port would open new prospects for more Qatari investments in Ukraine.

For his part, HE Mr. Andriy Kuzmenko, Ambassador of Ukraine in the State of Qatar, said that both countries enjoy distinct relations and their bilateral trade has seen significant development within the past few years, noting that the agreements and MOUs signed between hem have helped in streamlining the establishment of more partnerships and investments between both parties.

الدوحة: عقدت غرفة قطر، الأمس، /لقاء الأعمال القطري – الأوكراني/ بالتعاون مع غرفة التجارة والصناعة الأوكرانية، لبحث آفاق التعاون المشترك بين القطاع الخاص في البلدين واستكشاف الفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة في كل من دولة قطر وأوكرانيا.

وخلال اللقاء، الذي عقد “عن بعد”، قال سعادة السيد سيرهي مارشينكو، وزير المالية الأوكراني، إن هناك اهتماما من الجانبين القطري والأوكراني بتعزيز العلاقات على كافة المستويات، وخاصة في المجالات الاقتصادية والتجارية، وإن رجال الأعمال في البلدين كذلك مهتمون بزيادة الشراكات بينهم واستكشاف الفرص المتاحة في أهم القطاعات بالبلدين.

وأوضح أن العام الماضي شهد زيادة ملحوظة في حجم التبادل التجاري، وأن هناك نية لأن يشهد العام الجاري نشاطات أكبر لزيادة التعاون، وعقد اجتماعات للتنسيق والتعاون في عدد من المجالات الاقتصادية المشتركة كالطاقة والزراعة، كما أشار إلى وجود تعاون وثيق بين المؤسسات المالية في البلدين.

من جانبه، قال السيد محمد بن أحمد طوار الكواري النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر، إن دولة قطر وأوكرانيا تربطهما علاقات وثيقة وقوية في جميع المجالات، حيث شهدت علاقات البلدين تطوراً ملحوظاً خلال السنوات القليلة الماضية تمثل في تكثيف التعاون في مجالات متنوعة، وتبادل الزيارات بين القادة والمسؤولين، كما وقع البلدان العديد من اتفاقيات التعاون ومذكرات التفاهم بهدف تعميق وتعزيز التعاون في مجالات كثيرة.

وأضاف أنه بالرغم من هذه العلاقات المتميزة بين البلدين، لايزال حجم التبادل التجاري بينهما دون مستوى الطموحات، حيث بلغ خلال عام 2019 ما قيمته 87 مليون دولار فقط، بينما تجاوز 97 مليون دولار العام الماضي.. مشيرا إلى أن غرفة قطر استقبلت خلال السنوات الماضية العديد من الوفود التجارية الأوكرانية، مما ساهم في تعزيز علاقات التعاون بين غرفتي قطر وأوكرانيا وتوقيع اتفاقية تشكيل مجلس أعمال مشترك بين رجال الأعمال القطريين والأوكرانيين في العام 2014، حيث يقوم هذا المجلس بدور مهم في تعزيز التعاون المشترك بين رجال الأعمال في البلدين، وتسهيل الإجراءات أمام المستثمرين في كلا البلدين.

وأوضح أن الغرفة ترحب بالشركات الأوكرانية التي ترغب في دخول السوق القطرية، ومستعدة لتقديم الدعم والمساندة لرجال الأعمال الأوكرانيين الراغبين في الاستثمار في قطر وإنشاء شراكات حقيقية مع نظرائهم القطريين، معربا عن أمله في زيادة الشراكات التجارية والتحالفات الاقتصادية بين القطاع الخاص القطري ونظيره الأوكراني.

ودعا السيد محمد بن أحمد طوار الكواري النائب الأول لرئيس غرفة قطر، الشركات الأوكرانية للاستثمار في قطر التي تزخر بالكثير من الفرص الاستثمارية في كافة القطاعات، كما دعا الشركات القطرية للاطلاع على الفرص الاستثمارية المتاحة في أوكرانيا خاصة في مجال الأمن الغذائي والزراعة التي تتميز بها أوكرانيا.

وعن مناخ الاستثمار في قطر، قال الكواري إن دولة قطر بفضل القيادة الحكيمة لحضرة صاحب السمو الشيخ تميم بن حمد آل ثاني أمير البلاد المفدى، استطاعت أن تحقق مجموعة من الإنجازات وأن تحقق تقدماً كبيراً في كافة المجالات، كما طورت بنية تحتية على مستوى عالمي وأصدرت العديد من القوانين والتشريعات الاقتصادية التي جعلت قطر وجهة رائدة للاستثمار والأعمال.

من جهته، أشاد السيد جينادي تشيزيكوف رئيس غرفة التجارة والصناعة الأوكرانية، بالعلاقات المتميزة التي تربط البلدين، مؤكدا على اهتمامهما بتطوير العلاقات وتعزيز التعاون في مجالات كثيرة أهمها الأمن الغذائي والطاقة.

وقال تشيزيكوف إن هناك فرصا كثيرة للتعاون بين الشركات الأوكرانية والقطرية في مجالات الزراعة والتكنولوجيا، داعيا المستثمرين القطريين للاستثمار في بلاده والاستفادة من هذه الفرص.

بدوره، أكد سعادة السيد هادي بن ناصر الهاجري سفير دولة قطر لدى أوكرانيا، أن هناك فرصا كثيرة للتعاون بين البلدين، مشيراً إلى مشروع كيوترمينلز في ميناء أولفيا البحري الأوكراني والذي سيفتح الباب أمام كثير من الاستثمارات القطرية في أوكرانيا.

من جانبه، قال سعادة السيد أندريه كوزمينكو سفير أوكرانيا لدى دولة قطر، إن البلدين تربطهما علاقات متميزة وإن حجم التبادل التجاري بينهما شهد تطورا خلال السنوات الأخيرة، منوهاً بأن الاتفاقيات ومذكرات التفاهم الموقعة بينهما ستسهم في تسهيل إنشاء شراكات واستثمارات بين الجانبين.

وقال سعادته إن هناك قانونا صدر مؤخرا في أوكرانيا يتضمن الكثير من المحفزات التي تجذب المستثمر الأجنبي ومزيدا من الاستثمارات الأجنبية إلى بلاده.
