QM Announces Planned Events and Activities for Marchitecture

Doha: Qatar Museums has announced the planned events and activities for this year’s Marchitecture, an annual month held in collaboration with The Architects’ Hub Qatar that invites Culture Pass members to explore Qatar’s striking architecture through tours and workshops during the month of March.

Qatar Museums’ Culture Pass members can look forward to tailored virtual talks and tours centered on local architecture to highlight the importance and symbolism of Qatar’s urban design. The programming is dedicated to architecture in Qatar showcasing present-day design elements and the notable growth in its architectural landscape, creating a unique built environment in the fabric of the city where the old and new retain equal importance.

Deputy CEO of Museum Affairs at Qatar Museums Aisha Al Khater said: “This year, we are excited to offer our valued Culture Pass members the opportunity to explore Qatar’s modern architecture as part of our annual Marchitecture program dedicated to urban design. Qatar’s unique built environment boasts both old and modern design elements that stand in stark contrast making for a striking architectural landscape and city.”

Marchitecture programming includes the following in-person tours and online events:

A Face-to-Face Design Tour on Saturday 6 March at 11 am exploring antiquity in architecture – a personal museum of treasures – led by Dr. Mousallam Sakka Amini, an architect and professor in Islamic architecture. Professor Amini is the owner of a vast collection of unique antiques, each with a story to tell and includes rare items ranging from books, collector items, interior dcor accessories, landscape treasures and more. This collection is truly one of the hidden gems in Qatar. This is a museum of antiques.

On 10 March at 7 pm, architect Eduardo Gaitan will stage a Virtual Hub Talk on Reinventing Cities. The discussion forms part of The Architects’ Hub Qatar’s signature talks that aim to harness the design and architectural wisdom of the crowd. Gaitan will talk in-depth about the humanization of public space as the driver of urban sustainability.

The Face-to-Face Design Tour taking place at 3pm on Monday, 15 March will explore the Alwadi Hotel, Doha McGallery Hotel Collection at Downtown Msheireb. The MGallery brand is one the AH brands which represents a collection of high-end hotels all around the world. MG is a collection of 5* premium boutique hotels that provide a unique experience inspired by the local essence with the Alwadi Hotel, Doha McGallery Hotel Collection boasting contemporary style blended with the history of Qatar.

A Face-to-Face Tour of W Doha Hotel & Residences at 10 am on Tuesday, 16 March will reveal the unexpected. Offering spectacular views of the crystal blue waters of the Arabian Gulf and set against a breath-taking exotic desert landscape, W Doha Hotel & Residences is located in the heart of Doha, where majesty meets metropolitan style, art meets science, history meets haute couture and nature meets nightlife.

Custom Design – The Process will be the focus of the Virtual Hub Talk on Wednesday, 17 March at 7 pm. Architects Jelena and Kostas of KJ Group will be sharing their own experiences on the process of realizing a project to exactly suit your specific needs and expectations. They will be showcasing some design case studies.

A Face-to-Face Design Tour of Msheireb Downtown Doha on 27 March at 5:30 am offers a walking tour through selected architectural spaces and routes at Msheireb to observe and talk about the design experience. It is an architectural experience as well as a chance to engage with peers and talk about the various aspects of Msheireb that make it unique.

On 30 March at 4 pm, Culture Pass Members can take part in the Face-to-Face Design Tour On the Architecture of Taste at Port Arabia, Tower 4, The Pearl. Dinara Kasko, an architect and pastry artist from Ukraine will lead the tour during which participants have the chance to see the unique application of architecture in pastry and to enjoy the taste of art.

الدوحة: أعلنت متاحف قطر عن فعاليات وأنشطة برنامج /مارس.. شهر العمارة/ لهذا العام، الذي سيقام لمدة شهر بالتعاون مع /دار العمارة قطر/، وسيكون حضور فعالياته، حصريا، لأعضاء برنامج /بطاقتك إلى الثقافة/ لاستكشاف فن العمارة في دولة قطر.

وستتاح لأعضاء برنامج /بطاقتك إلى الثقافة/ الفرصة للمشاركة في ندوات افتراضية وجولات ميدانية تركز على العمارة المحلية، وتسلط الضوء على أهمية ورمزية التصميم الحضري في قطر، حيث تم تخصيص برامج هذا العام للعمارة الحديثة في قطر، لعرض عناصر التصميم الحالية، والنمو الملحوظ في المشهد المعماري بالدولة.

وعن هذه الفعاليات، قالت السيدة عائشة الخاطر، نائب الرئيس التنفيذي للشؤون المتحفية في متاحف قطر، في تصريحات، “نحن متحمسون لأن نقدم هذا العام لأعضاء /بطاقتك إلى الثقافة/ فرصة استكشاف العمارة الحديثة في قطر في إطار برنامجنا السنوي /مارس.. شهر العمارة/ المخصص للتصميم العمراني”، لافتة إلى أن “مشهد المباني في قطر يمتاز بتمازج عناصر التصميم القديمة بالحديثة مما يجعلهما يقفان في تناقض صارخ وفي مشهد جمالي فريد من نوعه، ما يجعلها تضفي منظرا معماريا خلابا لمختلف المدن القطرية، ويعطيها طابعا هندسيا خاصا يستحق الاحتفاء به”.

من جهتها، أكدت السيدة أميمة إسماعيل، مدير /دار العمارة قطر/، أنه “يسعد الدار أن تكون جزءا من برنامج /مارس.. شهر العمارة/، وهي تتطلع بحماس إلى أن تسهم في مجموعة من الفعاليات المهمة التي ستستمر لمدة شهر، سواء افتراضيا أو ميدانيا للغور في عالم الهندسة المعمارية”.

ويتضمن برنامج /مارس.. شهر العمارة/ عددا من الجولات الميدانية والندوات الافتراضية منها: جولة التصميم وجها لوجه التي ستقام في السادس من مارس المقبل، وسيتمكن من خلالها المشاركون من استكشاف التحف القديمة في العمارة عبر متحف شخصي للكنوز للدكتور مسلم السقا أميني، المهندس المعماري وأستاذ العمارة الإسلامية، والذي يمتلك مجموعة كبيرة من التحف الفريدة من نوعها، وندوة افتراضية حول إعادة تشكيل المدن ستنظم في العاشر من الشهر ذاته، بإدارة المهندس المعماري إدواردو جايتان، والتي تأتي ضمن مجموعة من ندوات لـ/دار العمارة قطر/ تهدف إلى تسخير طاقات التصميم، وخلاصة الهندسة المعمارية، ليستفيد منها المجتمع.

كما ستقام يوم الإثنين 15 مارس المقبل، جولة التصميم وجها لوجه لاستكشاف فندق /الوادي/ الدوحة /إم جاليري/ في مشيرب قلب الدوحة، وفي اليوم التالي سيتم استكشاف فندق وشقق /دبليو/ الدوحة، فيما سيتم في 27 مارس استكشاف مشيرب قلب الدوحة سيرا على الأقدام عبر مساحات وطرق معمارية مختارة في المنطقة، على أن تقام في 30 مارس جولة حول /الهندسة والخبز/ في البرج رقم /4/ المتواجد في /بورتو أرابيا/ باللؤلؤة قطر التي ستتولى “الشيف” والمهندسة المعمارية الأوكرانية، دينارا كاسكو، الاشراف عليها لمنح الفرصة للمشاركين لمشاهدة التطبيق الفريد للهندسة المعمارية في المعجنات، والاستمتاع بمذاق الفن.

وإلى جانب ذلك، سيعرض المهندسان المعماريان، جيلينا وكوستاس من مجموعة /كيه جي/، خلال الندوة الافتراضية التي تقام في 17 مارس بعنوان /التصميم حسب الطلب-الخطوات/، خبراتهما الخاصة في كيفية إنجاز أي مشروع ليناسب مختلف الاحتياجات والتوقعات، كما سيعرض المهندسان بعض دراسات الحالة في مجال التصميم.

وسيتم تنظيم فعاليات وأنشطة برنامج /مارس.. شهر العمارة/ لهذا العام طوال الشهر المقبل، مع اعتماد الإجراءات الاحترازية التي اتخذتها وزارة الصحة العامة للحد من انتشار فيروس كورونا /كوفيد-19/، حيث سيكون عدد الأماكن محدودا للغاية، وسيتم قبول المشاركين بحسب أسبقية التسجيل.
