Doha: His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al-Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways, said during his interview with Qatar TV that a pilot project was launched in cooperation with the IATA organization within the organization’s council, where we studied the introduction of a safe travel mechanism so that travelers have an application that shows that they have obtained the vaccine that enables them to Travel to countries without quarantine and without being subjected to precautionary measures.”

His Excellency continued: I have expected the aviation sector to return to 2019 levels again within two or three years, but now I think that we will need a longer time, especially if we witness a third, fourth, or fifth wave of the epidemic, which will delay the sector’s recovery for longer periods.

He pointed out that Hamad International Airport is currently witnessing the expansion process that was previously announced in order to finish all the work due by the time of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, and the airport’s capacity will increase to 58 million passengers and the final expansion will reach nearly 70 million passengers, due to the availability of a technological system through which the destinations that are in high demand are known.

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al-Baker expected that the Coronavirus pandemic will continue for some time, which will lead to us being subjected to a lot of pressure, as recently Britain has prevented airplanes from reaching its airports, as well as France, and for this we are under great pressure.

In his interview with Qatar TV, H.E. added that the vaccine is not the only solution, it is a temporary solution, and everyone must respect the precautionary measures approved by the authorities, due to the indulgence of people and their lack of commitment to social distancing and their congregation in large numbers, which leads to pressure on airlines and all means of transportation.

H.E. Al-Baker said: The Qatari company obtained an investment in its shares through the government of Qatar, so it is not public assistance but an investment in the company’s shares, in addition to all the companies that got billions of dollars, but the Qatari company got an investment through our government.

H.E. Mr. Akbar Al-Baker added that the national carrier will give priority to employees who have been laid off due to the pandemic, when they begin to re-employ people to meet the service of the increase that we are witnessing in our destinations network, saying: “It has not done anything different from what airlines have done around the world which It has laid off huge numbers, but we have done with minimal layoffs, minimal salary cuts, and we will re-employ those who were laid off from Qatar Airways, confirming this in his interview with Qatar TV that 80% of the aircraft fleet is operating while other companies still have the largest part of their fleet on the ground.

He added: We are the largest international airline around the world and the first in the world in terms of air freight, and we possess 10% of air freight around the world, and that our country leading at the forefront in this industry is unprecedented.

With regard to ticket prices, Al-Baker stressed that there will be no increase in the prices of air tickets, compared to what we would ask our passengers during normal circumstances, and airline prices will remain suitable for people, and the additional cost related to the precautionary measures at airports will be borne by service providers at airports.

H.E. added: People will still be able to travel at affordable prices, as Qatar Airways will continue to offer a safe travel experience at lower ticket prices than those paid in America, and he expressed his pride that Hamad International Airport is the first airport in the world to receive a 5-star rating in terms of safety measures for ” Covid-19 “from Skytrax. We are the first airline in the world to obtain this certificate.”

He also said “We have taken additional measures. These measures have not been taken by most airports around the world., and we have been keen to have the best health and safety equipment, while London Heathrow has sought help from us about the quality of equipment we use to sterilize our airport.”

His Excellency Mr. Akbar Al-Baker confirmed that the national carrier returned nearly $ 1.6 billion to hundreds of thousands of travelers, with the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic globally and with the closure of airports around the world, and after requests by travelers to get back their ticket money, especially after other companies froze those tickets’ money, some of which were allowed only by recovering the value of tickets through vouchers, pointing out that Qatar Airways has maintained its responsibility and reputation as the national carrier of the State of Qatar and a company with a prestigious global reputation.

H.E. Al-Baker confirmed that Qatar Airways did not take the risk as some accuse it, saying: “I know that there was a lot of criticism that was directed at Qatar Airways, as it continued to operate its flights and was endangering people”, but he stressed that they have the latest types of aircraft. وقال أيضاً: “بالتالي سيكون جواز السفر الرقمي عبر “إياتا” يعطي الإرشادات الصحيحة للمسافرين لضمان تحركهم من جهة إلى أخرى و ستكون اسطنبول هي المشروع التجريبي لتطبيق هذا النظام الآمن عبر الخطوط الجوية القطرية”.

وقال سعادته :كنت أتوقع أن يعود قطاع الطيران إلى مستويات عام 2019 مرة أخرى خلال عامين أو ثلاثة أعوام ولكن أعتقد الآن أننا سنحتاج إلى وقت أطول خاصة إذا ما شهدنا موجة ثالثة أو رابعة أو خامسة من الوباء الذي سيؤخر تعافي القطاع لفترات أطول.

وأشار إلى أن مطار حمد الدولي يشهد حالياً عمليات التوسعة التي تم الإعلان عنها مسبقا من أجل إنهاء جميع أعمال المترتبة بحلول موعد بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم قطر 2022، و سترتفع سعة المطار إلى 58 مليون مسافر والتوسعة النهائية ستصل إلى قرابة 70 مليون مسافر، وذلك لتوفر نظام تكنولوجي يتم من خلالها معرفة الوجهات التي يرتفع عليها الطلب.

وتوقع سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، أن تستمر جائحة كورونا لبعض الوقت، مما يؤدي إلى تعرضنا للكثير من الضغط، فمؤخرا بريطانيا منعت الطائرات من الوصول إلى مطاراتها وكذلك فرنسا، ولهذا نحن تحت ضغط كبير.

وأضاف في مقابلته مع تليفزيون قطر، أن اللقاح ليس الحل الوحيد فهو حل مؤقت، وعلى الجميع احترام الإجراءات الاحترازية التي تقرها السلطات، وذلك بسبب تساهل الناس وعدم التزامهم بالتباعد الاجتماعي وتجمعمهم بأعداد كبيرة مما يؤدي إلى التسبب بضغط على شركات الطيران و على جميع وسائل التنقل.

و قال الباكر: القطرية حصلت على استثمار فى أسهمها عبر حكومة قطر، فبالتالي هي ليست مساعدة عامة بل استثمار فى أسهم الشركة، إضافةً إلى أن كل الشركات حصلت على مليارات الدولارات، لكن القطرية حصلت على استثمار عبر حكومتنا .

و أضاف سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر، أن الناقلة الوطنية ستعطي الأولوية للموظفين الذين تم تسريحهم بسبب الجائحة،وذلك عند البدء بإعادة توظيف الأشخاص لتلبية خدمة الزيادة التي نشهدها في شبكة وجهاتنا، قائلاً: “لم تقم بأي شيء مختلف عما قامت به خطوط الطيران حول العالم والتي قامت بتسريح أعداد ضخمة، ولكننا قمنا بالحد الأدنى من التسريح، والحد الأدنى من تخفيض الرواتب، وسنعيد توظيف من تم تسريحهم من القطرية ” مؤكداً ذلك في مقابلته مع تليفزيون قطر، أن 80% من اسطول الطائرات يعمل في حين الشركات الأخرى لايزال الجانب الأكبر من أسطولها على الأرض.

أضاف: نحن أكبر شركة طيران دولية حول العالم والشركة الأولى عالمياً فيما يتعلق بالشحن الجوي ونستحوذ على 10% من شحن البضائع جويا حول العالم .. وأن تتبوأ دولتنا الصدارة في تلك الصناعة هو أمر غير مسبوق.

وبالنسبة بما يتعلق بأسعار التذاكر، أكد الباكر على عدم زيادة بأسعار تذاكر السفر، مقارنة بما كنا سنطلبه من مسافرينا خلال الظروف العادية، وستبقى أسعار الطيران مناسبة للناس، أما التكلفة الإضافية المتعلقة بالإجراءات الاحترازية في المطارات سيكون على مقدمي الخدمات في المطارات تحملها.

أضاف: سيظل بإمكان الناس السفر بأسعار مناسبة، فالقطرية ستبقى تقدم تجربة سفر آمنة بأسعار تذاكر أقل من التي يتم دفعها في أمريكا، و عبر عن فخره بأن مطار حمد الدولي هو أول مطار في العالم يحصل على تصنيف 5 نجوم فيما يتعلق بتدابير السلامة الخاصة بـ “كوفيد-19” من سكاي تراكس، وأضاف: نحن أول شركة طيران في العالم تحصل على هذه الشهادة .

وقال أيضاً أنه تم اتخاذ إجراءات لم تقم بها معظم المطارات حول العالم وحرصنا على أن نمتلك أفضل معدات الصحة والسلامة في حين أن مطار هيثرو في لندن استعان بنا حول نوعية المعدات التي نستخدمها لتعقيم مطارنا.

أكد سعادة السيد أكبر الباكر ،أن الناقلة الوطنية أعادت قرابة 1.6 مليار دولار إلى مئات الآلاف من المسافرين، مع انتشار جائحة كورونا عالميا ومع إغلاق المطارات حول العالم، وبعد مطالب المسافرين بإعادة أموال التذاكرالخاصة بهم، خصيصاً بعدما قامت شركات أخرى بتجميد أموال تلك التذاكر وبعضها سمح فقط باستعادة قيمة التذاكر عبر قسائم شرائية، لافتاً إلى أن القطرية حافظت على مسؤوليتها وسمعتها كونها الناقلة الوطنية لدولة قطر وشركة ذات سمعة عالمية مرموقة .

وأكد الباكر أن الخطوط الجوية القطرية لم تغامر كما يتهمها البعض، قائلاً: “أعلم أنه كان هناك الكثير من النقد الذي تم توجيهه إلى الخطوط الجوية القطرية، حيث أنها واصلت تشغيل رحلاتها و كانت تعرض الناس للخطر، لكنه أكد على امتلاكهم أحدث أنواع الطائرات من طراز بوينغ 777 وإيرباص 350 والتي تحتوي على أنظمة تنقية الهواء الأكثر حداثة وتقدما.

وقال سعادته : في بداية الجائحة لم يكن معروفاً وقتها حجم تأثير الفيروس وانتشاره، ورغم ذلك وحتى الآن يظل السفر عبر القطرية هو الأكثر أمانا، إذا ما تم اتباع إجراءات السلامة .

وأضاف: إن الخطوط الجوية القطرية بتزويد جميع مسافريها بأدوات الحماية سواء أقنعة الوجه و المعقمات وغيرها، واتخذنا كل الإجراءات الاحترازية الممكنة، وحرصنا أن يكون لدى عملائنا الثقة في الخطوط الجوية القطرية وإعادتهم إلى أحبائهم سالمين .

وحول التأثيرات على قطاع الطيران، قال : ما يؤثر حالياً هو أن كل حكومة لديها تنظيمات مختلفة حول قواعد الحجر الصحي، فبعضها يطلب 7 أيام حجر والآخر 14 يوماً وبعضها أغلق أجوائه بشكل كامل، وهذا يتسبب في حيرة والتباس كبير لشركات الطيران المسافرين لأنهم لا يعلمون كيف سيكون التعامل معهم عند وصولهم إلى وجهاتهم.. وبعض الدول أغلقت مطاراتها عندما كان هناك مسافرون في منتصف الطريق إليهم وعلى سبيل المثال بعض الدول أغلقت مطاراتها عندما وصل الركاب إلى محطة الترانزيت في الدوحة، وفي تلك الحالات اعتنت الخطوط الجوية القطرية بركابها جيدا في مطار حمد الدولي لأكثر من 15 يوماً، وذلك لأهمية مرتادينا.
