Work in Roads, Infrastructure Project in South Al Meshaf Begins

Doha: The Public Works Authority (Ashghal) announced the commencement of works on the Roads and Infrastructure Project in South Al Meshaf (Package 8), which aims to develop internal streets in the area and improve the traffic safety on them as well as upgrade infrastructure facilities to respond to residents’ needs and urban growth in the future.

The project is located east of Al Ghariya Street in South Al Meshaf area and west of The Southern Part of Doha Express Highway and is bordered by Al Wukair Main Road. The upgrading works, will be implemented into four geographical zones which will be carried out successively, where the duration of each phase will be one year. Full completion of the project is scheduled for Q4, 2023.

Head of the Southern Area Section of the Roads Projects Department in Ashghal Eng. Ahmed Al Obaidly stated that, upon its completion, the project will serve 1360 residential plots in South Al Meshaf area through the provision of upgraded infrastructure services including drainage networks, enhanced local streets and dedicated cycle and pedestrian paths to improve the traffic flow and provide connectivity to public amenities in the area.

“The project’s scope of works involves developing a road network with a total length of 20 km equipped with road safety features and street lighting as well as road signs and marks. The project also features a 20-km-pedestrian and cycle track as well as the construction of 1400 car parking slots,” he added.

“The project scope includes a 26-km-long foul sewer network, 36 km of surface and groundwater drainage network, 2 km of Treated Sewerage Effluent (TSE) network and 39-km-long potable water network,” he noted, adding “new sewage pipelines will be provided and connected with Qatar’s main sewage network and the construction works will also include an emergency flood area with a total capacity of 24,000 m3 to provide proper protection for the entire area against flooding and excess rainfall.”

The Roads and Infrastructure in South Al Meshaf Project is being implemented by Al-Tawfeeq Contracting, at a cost of approximately QAR 514.9 million and is part of the New Subdivisions Program which is carried out by the Public Works Authority and includes a number of development projects across Qatar.

الدوحة: بدأت هيئة الأشغال العامة “أشغال” في تنفيذ مشروع تطوير الطرق والبنية التحتية في منطقة جنوب المشاف (الحزمة الثامنة) والذي يهدف إلى تطوير الشوارع الداخلية بالمنطقة ورفع مستوى السلامة بها وكذلك مرافق البنية التحتية لتستجيب لمتطلبات السكان والنمو العمراني المستقبلي.

ويقع المشروع شرق شارع /الغارية/ في منطقة جنوب المشاف، وغرب الجزء الجنوبي من طريق الدوحة السريع كما يحدُّه شارع الوكير العام. وقد تم تقسيم الأعمال إلى أربع مناطق جغرافية يتم العمل فيها على التوالي ويستغرق تنفيذ كل مرحلة عاماً واحداً، ومن المخطط الانتهاء من تنفيذ جميع أعمال المشروع في الربع الأخير من عام 2023.

وقال المهندس أحمد العبيدلي، رئيس قسم مشاريع المناطق الجنوبية بإدارة مشروعات الطرق في “أشغال”، إن المشروع سيخدم عند اكتماله 1360 قسيمة لأراضي المواطنين في منطقة جنوب المشاف، حيث يعمل على توفير خدمات متطورة للبنية التحتية من شبكات للصرف الصحي وطرق وشوارع داخلية وممرات مخصصة للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية ما يعزز انسيابية الحركة المرورية ويربط المرافق العامة بما يستجيب لمتطلبات السكان والنمو العمراني في المستقبل.

وأضاف أنه سيتم من خلال المشروع تطوير وإنشاء شبكة طرق بطول 20 كيلومترا مع توفير عناصر السلامة المرورية من أنظمة وأعمدة إنارة للشوارع، ولوحات إرشادية وعلامات الطريق و1400 موقف مخصص للسيارات ومسارات للمشاة والدراجات الهوائية بطول أكثر من 20 كيلومترا.

وأفاد بأنه سيتم ضمن نطاق المشروع أيضاً إنشاء شبكة صرف صحي بطول 26 كيلومترا وشبكة صرف للمياه السطحية والجوفية بطول 36 كيلومترا، وشبكة للمياه المعالجة بطول كيلومترين وشبكة مياه شرب بطول 39 كيلومترا، إلى جانب تمديد أنابيب الصرف الجديدة وربطها بشبكة الصرف الصحي الرئيسية، فضلاً عن إنشاء بحيرة لتخزين مياه الأمطار لأغراض الطوارئ بسعة 24 ألف متر مكعب بهدف وقاية كامل المنطقة من المياه خلال موسم الأمطار.

يذكر أن تكلفة المشروع تبلغ حوالي 514 مليونا و900 ألف ريال قطري، ويعد أحد مشاريع برنامج تطوير البنية التحتية للمناطق الذي تنفذه هيئة الأشغال العامة، ويضم عدداً من المشاريع التطويرية الموزعة على كافة مناطق البلاد.
