WhatsApp delays new privacy policy as users flee to rival apps

Doha: Facebook, Inc. application WhatsApp announced that no account will be suspended or deleted on the eighth of next February, due to the widespread rejection of sharing subscriber’s data with the parent company Facebook, in a clear decline of the world’s first messaging application after violent losses the app suffered during the past days, after millions of users withdrew to competing rivals.

WhatsApp clarified – in a statement – that neither it nor the “Facebook” company that owns it will be able to read users’ messages or view the content of their calls.

It stressed that the messages for the “WhatsApp” application are “end-to-end” encrypted, which does not allow any third party to read the chats, and the company pledges to delete the messages from its servers as soon as they are delivered (while keeping them on the user’s personal device).

Over the past few days, the “Signal” and “Telegram” applications have seen millions of downloads from the Apple and Google Play stores.

الدوحة: أعلن تطبيق واتساب التابع لشركة فيسبوك أنه لن يتم تعليق أو حذف أي حساب في ‏الثامن من فبراير المقبل، بسبب الرفض الواسع لمشاركة بيانات المشتركين مع الشركة الأم فيسبوك، في تراجع واضح لتطبيق التراسل الأول عالمياً بعد خسائر عنيفة مني بها خلال الأيام الماضية إثر انسحاب الملايين منه للمنافسين .

وأوضح واتساب – في بيان –أنه لن يتمكن سواء هو أو شركة “فيسبوك” التي تملكه ‏من قراءة الرسائل الخاصة بالمستخدمين أو الاطلاع على محتوى مكالماتهم.‏

وشدد على أن الرسائل الخاصة بتطبيق “واتساب” مشفرة “من طرف إلى طرف” ‏والتي لا تسمح لأي طرف ثالث بقراءة الدردشات، وتتعهد الشركة بحذف الرسائل ‏من على خوادمها بمجرد تسليمها (مع الاحتفاظ بها على الجهاز الشخصي ‏للمستخدم).‏

وعلى مدار الأيام الماضية، شهد تطبيق “سيغنال” و”تيليغرام”، ملايين ‏مرات التحميل على متجري “آبل” و”غوغل بلاي”.‏
