Doha: The 41st session of the 41st Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit, which comes after the announcement yesterday of Kuwait of a Qatari-Saudi agreement to open airspace, the land and sea border between them, kicked off.
In front of a huge building of mirrors, the leaders and presidents stood to take a commemorative photo ahead of the start of the 41st Gulf Summit, and enter the hall of “Maraya” and sign the final statement of the summit and the Statement of AlUla, which is a document of principle sought to end the Gulf crisis.
According to Russia Today, the “Maraya” hall is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the largest mirror-covered building in the world, with an exterior façade of 9,740 square meters of mirror glass.
It is also one of the most important landmarks of al-Ula province, where it was named to its façade with giant mirrors reflecting the magic of the picturesque nature of Al-Ula, which includes the stone area, the first historical site in the Kingdom to be included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The reflecting building is home to AlUla’s art and culture scene, and an extension of the surrounding landscape, literally reflecting the legendary cliffs and rock formations to transform the unique building into a work of art in its own right, and the design of the “Maraya” hall, located in wadi Ashar, near the volcanic hill of Uwayred, equipped with the latest theatrical and operatic sound systems, is a cube shape whose exterior walls completely cover the mirrors to be an architectural extension of AlUla nature.
On the idea of the world’s largest reflective building, Italian architect Florian Pogue said that “a mirror hall was created by swepting and carving blocks as in the architecture of the Nabataeans, and this unique edifice makes us think of the unmatched landscape of the geological epic and the radical abstraction of the fascinating nature of AlUla and the unique incursions of man into the landscape,” according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The reflection gives “the overwhelming balance and a deep sense of the attachment of human heritage to nature, their overlap and harmony, which places a burden and responsibility to protect our human heritage, which is integrated with the exceptional nature of AlUla,” he said, and the Maraya Hall won the “Arcitzer A” award, one of the biggest architectural awards in the world, focusing on promoting and celebrating the best architecture of the year.

الدوحة: انطلقت أعمال الدورة 41 لقمة مجلس التعاون الخليجي في دورتها الـ 41، والتي تأتي بعد إعلان دولة الكويت ،أمس ، عن اتفاق قطري سعودي على فتح الحدود البرية والبحرية والجوية بينهما.
وأمام بناء ضخم من المرايا وقف القادة والرؤساء لأخذ صورة تذكارية قبيل انطلاق أعمال القمة الخليجية والدخول إلى داخل قاعة “مرايا” وتوقيع البيان الختامي للقمة وبيان العلا الذي يعد وثيقة مبادء لإنهاء الأزمة الخليجية.
ووفقا لموقع روسيا اليوم فإن قاعة “مرايا” سجلت ضمن موسوعة غينيس للأرقام كأكبر مبنى مغطى بالمرايا في العالم، إذ تبلغ مساحة واجهة القاعة الخارجية 9740 مترا مربعا من زجاج المرايا.
كما أنها إحدى أهم معالم محافظة العلا، حيث أطلق عليها هذا الاسم لاكتساء واجهتها بالمرايا العملاقة العاكسة لسحر الطبيعة الخلابة في العلا التي تضم منطقة الحجر، أول موقع تاريخي في المملكة يدرج ضمن قائمة اليونسكو لمواقع التراث العالمي.
ويعد المبنى العاكس موطنا لمشهد الفنون والثقافة في العلا، وامتدادا للمنظر الطبيعي المحيط به، حيث يعكس حرفيا المنحدرات والتكوينات الصخرية الأسطورية ليتحول المبنى الفريد عملا فنيا في حد ذاته، كما يتخذ تصميم قاعة “مرايا” التي تقع في وادي عشار بالقرب من سفح حرة عويرض البركانية والمزود بأحدث النظم الصوتية المسرحية والأوبرالية شكلا مكعبا تغطي جدرانه الخارجية المرايا بشكل كامل ليكون امتدادا معماريا لطبيعة العلا.
وعن فكرة أكبر مبنى عاكس في العالم، أفاد مصمم المبنى المهندس المعماري الإيطالي فلوريان بوج بأن “قاعة مرايا تم إنشاؤها عن طريق الاجتزاء ونحت الكتل كما هو الحال في الهندسة المعمارية للأنباط، ويجعلنا هذا الصرح الفريد نفكر في المشهد الذي لا يضاهى من الملحمة الجيولوجية والتجريد الجذري للطبيعة الساحرة في العلا والتوغلات الفريدة للإنسان في المناظر الطبيعية”، بحسب وكالة الأنباء السعودية.
وبين بوج أن الانعكاس يعطي “التوازن الغامر والشعور العميق بارتباط التراث الإنساني بالطبيعة وتداخلهما وتناغمهما معا، ما يلقي عبئا ومسؤولية لحماية تراثنا الإنساني المدمج مع الطبيعة الاستثنائية في العلا”، كما فازت قاعة “مرايا” بجائزة “أركيتيزر إيه” التي تعد إحدى أكبر الجوائز المعمارية في العالم، حيث تركز على الترويج والاحتفال بأفضل هندسة معمارية خلال العام.
