Mass resignations within Egyptian Football Federation

Egyptian football federation president Hani Abu Reda announced his resignation and the dismissal of the Pharaohs’ technical team following his surprise exit from the African Cup of Nations (CAN) South Africa.
“This decision comes as a moral obligation, although the Football Association did not limit itself to the national team and gave it all the material and moral support in full,” said Abu Reda, who has been president of the federation since August 2016.

The Egyptian Federation confirmed that Abu Reda, who is also a member of the International Federation Council (FIFA) and the Executive Committee of the African Football Confederation (CA), continues to chair the Organizing Committee of the tournament hosted by Egypt.
The Egyptian loss has drawn widespread criticism from commentators and the shock and gloom of fans on the pitch, many of whom applauded Bafana Bafana as they left the pitch.
The team came out of the tournament at home, falling 0-1 on Saturday at the Cairo International Stadium to about 75 thousand spectators, against South Africa, who scored the winning goal just five minutes before the end of the game.

قدم هاني أبوريدة رئيس الاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم، اليوم الأحد، استقالته بعد اقالته كامل الجهاز الفني للمنتخب الأول بقيادة المكسيكي خافيير أغيري، عقب الخروج من بطولة أمم إفريقيا المقامة على الأراضي المصرية من ثمن النهائي أمام جنوب إفريقيا.
ووفقًا لصفحة الاتحاد المحلي على موقع التواصل الاجتماعي (فيسبوك)، “أعلن هاني أبو ريدة استقالته من رئاسة الاتحاد كما دعا أعضاء مجلس الإدارة لتقديم استقالاتهم، وذلك عقب خروج المنتخب الوطني من بطولة الأمم الإفريقية”.
وفي تصريحات لأبوريدة لموقع الاتحاد الالكتروني، قال “إن هذا القرار يأتي كالتزام أدبي رغم أن اتحاد كرة القدم لم يقصر في شئ تجاه المنتخب الوطني وقدم له كل الدعم المادي والمعنوي على الوجه الأكمل”.
وعن مصير الجهاز الفني والإداري للفريق، أكد أنه مقال بالكامل بعد أن خيب آمال جماهير الكرة المصرية والمسؤولين عنها رغم تلبية كافة مطالبه.
كما أعلن أحمد شوبير نائب رئيس الاتحاد استقالته، مع خمسة أعضاء بمجلس إدارة الاتحاد المصري وهم، أحمد مجاهد وسيف زاهر وحازم إمام وخالد لطيف ودينا الرفاعي.
وودّع المنتخب المصري، أمس السبت، منافسات بطولة كأس الأمم الإفريقية لكرة القدم المقامة على أرضه ووسط جمهوره، بعد الخسارة من جنوب إفريقيا بهدف نظيف في دور الـ16 (ثمن النهائي) للبطولة القارية.
