Traveller Ali Bin Towar: “I have traveled to more than 70 countries but I have never seen a country like my own”

Traveller Ali bin Towar al-Kuwari revealed that the national day of the state is an occasion to recognize what Qatar has provided to its people, and to mobilize and motivate people to complete the process of building and giving so that Qatar remains majestic and proud of the spirit of the faithful.

Bin Towar said in an exclusive interview with Al-Sharq that he traveled to many countries but never saw a country that resembled Qatar, stressing that important factors made it superior to the most advanced countries.

Ali bin Towar spoke about the academic specialization that led him to several worlds, including travel and philanthropy, as well as writing, community and environmental initiatives, and the meeting dealt with various topics in the following dialogue.

• What does The Notional Day of Qatar mean to you?

National Day is a precious occasion for every citizen and resident, it is a day of pride and dignity, a day of recognition of what Qatar has given us, and a day to complete the journey of giving. Besides, it is a day of renewal of loyalty and belonging to the homeland, the value of which I knew only when I discovered other countries, I traveled to 72 countries around the world, I was looking for a country that outperformed Qatar in many respects; but I have never seen a country like my own.

Home is not where you grew up, but the place where the human being is accepted, Qatar is a home for many nationalities, the homeland is the place that respects you, the place where you feel safe, secure and loyal, and I do not exaggerate if I say that every time I travel and discover other countries, my love for Qatar increases.

Take the example of the United States of America, which is the dream of many, I have studied in this country for six years, and I have a lot of love and respect for it because it accepts the other, and there are other aspects that have made me respect this country, but the United States is facing problems in the health system, the spread of the phenomenon of arms trade, and there are areas that have escaped the control of the United States Government. So when I compare America to Qatar, I find my country safer.

Qatar is a country that accepts the other, and whoever enters the Qatari system is respected, preserved and treated with respect, Qatar has transcended regionalism for years, competes for a global status, and Qatar’s education system includes a lot of nationalities, you live in this country with your culture but with a modern Qatari character and style.

Thoughtful steps

• During your journey to countries, peoples and civilizations, how did people talk about Qatar?

There are two categories of people, a category that knows Qatar through what he has heard about it as a country belonging to a region called the Arabian Gulf, and there is another category of people who visited the region and follows the news about it, and sees that Qatar wore a dress that distinguishes it from the countries of the region and other countries.

I think that the state is moving in steady and deliberate steps, and it has a clear vision for the future, and today we are witnessing the outcomes of ideas in 2005 and 2006 which were manifested in the projects and achievements we see.

Let me tell you about a beautiful instance that happened with me, when I asked one of the officials in charge of an unexploited area and he said to me it will be exploited by the leadership that will be in Qatar in 2050, which is proof that Qatar is thinking about the future.

The benefit of specialization

• What does academic specialization have in common with travel?

Travel and taking journeys is a hobby that I have developed to become a career goal, but academic specialization has opened my eyes to many things, including non-profit organizations that were my graduation project, and entered the world of international relations, and I saw their goals in the world of international relations, among the goals concerning childhood, disability, education, health, etc. from there, my knowledge of charitable matters began to take shape, and they do not need religion or doctrine, but humanity.

Another academic discipline is the international economy, which has expanded my knowledge of the economies of countries, and at the university, we have taken classes on some cases including Singapore, Malaysia, Brazil and many models. I discovered that the natural resources that exist in each country is equivalent to 5% of the country’s economy, and that the 95% is the mind, and we in Qatar, thank God, we have a leadership that we are very proud of today, this wise leadership used the economy in the country, put it on the ground, and implemented it well on desert land, put a lot of infrastructure and investment, while countries in the region were unable to do so.

The international economy has taught me that the economy is thought and mind, not material potential, an oil country may be the richest country in the world, but has the lowest growth rates in the world. International relations and the international economy have therefore made me see the countries I have travelled to with a different perspective.

Traveller’s Footsteps

• How did “Traveller’s Footsteps” win the viewer’s trust?

With the help of God almighty, and sincere work ethic and giving second, work, if it is not performed with dedication, will not succeed, it may have material or moral returns, but the goal in the “Traveller’s Footsteps” in the first season was not to win the masses, and was not material, and not any other goal except to provide honest information and educate people and convey the beautiful truths.

Note that the program in the last and penultimate season began to reflect my personality because the program and I meet in many things, in the sense that there is mutual trust between us, and I think that one of the factors of the strength of the program is the citing of the source of information, there is a lot of information you do not find in the online engine, and it is also nice that the information has independent sources, we are proud today to choose information that no one can question its validity, and the truth is that the information that we found problematic is that of Andalusia, because we came across 4 stories for every incident or topic, therefore, you notice that I always use the word “said” in the program to convey different stories on the same subject.

Also one of the factors of the success of the program is the harmony of the team, as all its staff are travel enthusiasts, and they think outside the box, and in the atmosphere of research and exploration each of us comes with an idea that we discuss as the editors of the program, and there is great harmony between photographers and technicians.

• Does it bother you that someone else presents a program with the same vision and idea of “Traveller’s Footsteps” and be a competitor to you?

I’m looking for competitors, and it doesn’t bother me at all, if the competition is to search for information and benefit people, I’m ready to train and help with the emergence of competitors.

Releases

• You are also known for your passion for writing. What about your new publications in this field?

Yes, I have released “Life of an Adventurer”, and is currently negotiating with Qatari publishing houses to print three books on China, Turkey and India, all from a completely different perspective from what we have seen, or what people have not seen, the new titles I wrote with my character away from the television cloak, in the program “”Traveller’s Footsteps” I adhered to a great extent with the logo of Qatar TV, and often I try to communicate the information but the logo restricts me to the editorial line of the channel, in the book I was freed from this restriction, and I showed my personal point of view and many things, and the truth is that I saw myself in the Book of China, in which I spent a lot of love, and it will be special, God willing.

• What about your community activity?

I am the ambassador for “Ooredoo and I have some commitments with them, and there is a dawn challenge campaign that I do to market sports at dawn, and I try through this campaign to make the community more morning-active, in addition to some environmental activities I am active in protecting the whale shark, and I met officials, I got to a point where people started to see me as an environmentalist, I broke the mantle, i went to sustainability where I achieved successes, and there were successful partnerships until people dressed me in the mantle of sustainability, so I broke it up, and started another activity, I try to make a difference in every area I care about, I don’t prefer the term “Publicist”, because I believe in people’s culture, and I see myself as a traveler rather than a media person.

• To what extent does stardom affect these chosen tracks?

Stardom achieves my goals, and media appearance helps me achieve my goals, and I do not like to receive an invitation with “media person” written on it, I do not want to stray away from my specialization, and I always advise young people to specialize, and I try as much as possible to maintain my orientation.

الدوحة: كشف الرحالة علي بن طوار الكواري، عن أن اليوم الوطني للدولة مناسبة للاعتراف بما قدمته قطر لأبنائها، واستنهاض الهمم لاستكمال مسيرة البناء والعطاء حتى تظل قطر شامخة مزهوة بروح الأوفياء.

وقال بن طوار في لقاء خاص مع الشرق إنه سافر إلى دول عديدة لكنه لم ير قط بلدا تشبه قطر، مؤكدا أن عوامل مهمة جعلتها تتفوق على أكثر الدول تقدماً.

وتحدث علي بن طوار عن التخصص الأكاديمي الذي قاده إلى عدة عوالم من بينها السفر والأعمال الخيرية، إلى جانب الكتابة والمبادرات المجتمعية والبيئية، وتناول اللقاء مواضيع شتى في الحوار التالي.

• ماذا يعني لك اليوم الوطني للدولة؟

اليوم الوطني مناسبة عزيزة على كل مواطن ومقيم، إنه يوم الفخر والعز، ويوم الاعتراف بما قدمته لنا قطر، ويوم لاستكمال مسيرة البذل والعطاء.. وهو إلى جانب ذلك يوم تجديد الولاء والانتماء للوطن الذي لم أكن أعرف قيمته إلا عندما اكتشفت أوطانا أخرى، فقد سافرت إلى 72 دولة حول العالم، كنت أبحث عن دولة تتفوّق على قطر في عدة جوانب؛ لكني لم أر بلدا يشبه بلدي.

الوطن ليس هو المكان الذي نشأت فيه، بل المكان الذي يتقبل الإنسان، وقطر وطن للكثير من الجنسيات، الوطن هو المكان الذي يحترمك، وهو المكان الذي تشعر فيه بالأمان والطمأنينة والولاء، ولا أبالغ إن قلت إنني كلما سافرت واكتشفت بلدانا أخرى زاد حبي لقطر.

خذي مثالا الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية التي تعتبر حلم الكثيرين، وأنا درست في هذا البلد مدة ست سنوات، وأكنّ له الكثير من الحب والاحترام لأنه يقبل الآخر، وهناك جوانب أخرى جعلتني أحترم هذا البلد، لكن الولايات المتحدة تواجه مشاكل في النظام الصحي، وانتشار ظاهرة تجارة السلاح، وهناك مناطق أفلتت من سيطرة الحكومة الأمريكية.. إذن عندما أقارن أمريكا بقطر أجد أن بلدي أكثر أمانا.

قطر بلد يقبل الآخر، ومن يدخل في المنظومة القطرية يُحترم ويصان ويعامل بكل احترام، قطر تخطت الإقليمية منذ سنوات، وتنافس على مكانة عالمية، والنظام التعليمي في قطر يشمل الكثير من الجنسيات، فأنت تعيشين في هذا البلد بثقافتك ولكن بطابع وطراز قطري حديث.

خطوات مدروسة

• خلال رحلتك التي توقفت فيها عند دول وشعوب وحضارات، كيف كان الناس يتحدثون عن قطر؟

هناك نوعان من الناس، نوع يعرف قطر من خلال ما سمعه عنها كدولة تنتمي إلى منطقة تسمى الخليج العربي، وهناك نوع آخر من الناس زار المنطقة ويتابع الأخبار المتعلقة بها، ويرى أن قطر لبست ثوبا يميزها عن دول المنطقة والدول الأخرى.

أعتقد أن الدولة تسير بخطوات ثابتة ومدروسة، ولديها رؤية مستقبلية واضحة، ونحن اليوم نعيش ارتدادات أفكار في عام 2005 و2006 هي ما نشاهدها من مشاريع وإنجازات.

أخبرك عن أحد المواقف الجميلة التي حدثت معي، حين سألت أحد المسؤولين عن منطقة لم يتم استغلالها فقال لي سيتم استغلالها بالقيادة التي ستكون في قطر سنة 2050، وهذا دليل على أن قطر تفكر للمستقبل.

فائدة التخصص

•  ما الذي يجمع بين التخصص الأكاديمي والسفر؟

 السفر والرحلة هواية طورتها حتى أصبحت هدفا وظيفيا، أما التخصص الأكاديمي فقد فتح عيني على أمور عديدة، من بينها المنظمات غير الربحية التي كانت مشروع التخرج، فدخلت إلى عالم العلاقات الدولية، ورأيت أهدافها في بقاع الأرض، ومن بين الأهداف ما يتعلق بالطفولة، والإعاقة، والتعليم، والصحة، وغيرها.. من هناك بدأت معرفتي بالأمور الخيرية تتشكل، وهي لا تحتاج إلى دين أو مذهب بل تحتاج إلى الإنسانية.

التخصص الأكاديمي الآخر هو الاقتصاد الدولي الذي وسع معرفتي باقتصادات الدول، وفي الجامعة تلقينا دراسات على بعض الحالات من بينها سنغافورة وماليزيا والبرازيل ونماذج عديدة.. واكتشفت أن الخيرات الموجودة في كل بلد تعادل 5% من اقتصاد البلد، وأن الـ 95% هو العقل، ونحن في قطر ولله الحمد نحتكم لقيادة نفتخر بها كثيرا اليوم، هذه القيادة الحكيمة استخدمت الاقتصاد الموجود في البلد، ووضعته على أرض الواقع، ونفذته بشكل جيد على أرض صحراوية، وضعوا بنية تحتية واستثمارات كثيرة، بينما عجزت دول في المنطقة عن فعل ذلك.

الاقتصاد الدولي علمني أن الاقتصاد فكر وعقل وليس إمكانات مادية، قد يكون بلد نفطي أغنى بلد في العالم لكن به أقل معدلات النمو في العالم، وقس على ذلك. وبالتالي فالعلاقات الدولية والاقتصاد الدولي جعلاني أرى الدول التي سافرت لها بمنظور مختلف.

خطى الرحالة

•  كيف نجح برنامج “خطى الرحالة” في كسب ثقة المشاهد؟

 بتوفيق من الله سبحانه، والعمل بإخلاص وعطاء ثانيا، فالعمل إن لم يكن بإخلاص لن ينجح، قد تكون له عوائد مادية أو معنوية، ولكن الهدف في “خطى الرحالة” في الموسم الأول لم يكن كسب الجماهير، ولم يكن ماديا، ولم يكن أي هدف آخر إلا تقديم المعلومة الصادقة وتثقيف الناس ونقل الحقائق الجميلة.

لاحظي أن البرنامج في الموسم الأخير وقبل الأخير بدأ يعكس شخصيتي لأني أنا والبرنامج نلتقي في كثير من الأمور، بمعنى أن هناك ثقة متبادلة بيننا، وأعتقد أن من عوامل قوة البرنامج نقل مصدر المعلومة، هناك الكثير من المعلومات لا تجدينها في المحرك الإلكتروني، والجميل أيضا أن المعلومات لها مصادر مستقلة، فنحن نفتخر اليوم بانتقاء المعلومة التي لا يستطيع أحد أن يشكك في صحتها، والحقيقة أقول إن المعلومات التي وجدنا إشكالية فيها هي تلك التي تتعلق بالأندلس، إذ وجدنا لكل حادثة أو موضوع أربع روايات، ولذلك تلاحظين أني دائما ما أستخدم كلمة “يقال” في البرنامج حتى أنقل الروايات المختلفة عن نفس الموضوع.

أيضا من عوامل نجاح البرنامج انسجام فريق العمل، حيث إن كل عناصره من هواة السفر، ويفكرون خارج الصندوق، وفي أجواء البحث والاستكشاف يأتي كل واحد منا بفكرة نتناقشها كرؤساء تحرير البرنامج، وهناك انسجام كبير بين المصورين والفنيين.

• هل يزعجك أن يقدم شخص آخر برنامجا بنفس تصور وفكرة “خطى الرحالة” ويكون منافسا لك؟

أنا أبحث عن منافسين، ولا يزعجني ذلك إطلاقا، إذا كانت المنافسة من أجل البحث عن المعلومة وإفادة الناس فحبذا، وأنا على أتم الاستعداد كي أدرب وأساعد في ظهور منافسين لي.

• عرف عنك أيضا شغفك بالكتابة.. ماذا عن جديدك في هذا المجال؟

نعم، أصدرت “حياة مغامر”، وحاليا بصدد التفاوض مع دور نشر قطرية من أجل طباعة ثلاثة كتب عن الصين وتركيا والهند، كلها من منظور مختلف تماما عما شاهدناه، أو ما لم يشاهده الناس، العناوين الجديدة كتبتها بشخصيتي بعيدا عن العباءة التلفزيونية، فبرنامج “خطى الرحالة” ألتزمت فيه إلى حد كبير بشعار تلفزيون قطر، وفي كثير من الأحيان أحاول أن أوصل المعلومة لكن الشعار يربطني بالخط التحريري للقناة، في الكتاب تحررت من هذا القيد، وبيّنت وجهة نظري الشخصية وأمورا كثيرة، والحقيقة أني رأيت نفسي في كتاب الصين الذي صرفت فيه الكثير من الحب، وسيكون مميزا بإذن الله.

• ماذا عن نشاطك المجتمعي؟

أنا سفير “أوريدو” ولدي بعض الالتزامات معهم، وهناك حملة تحدي الفجر التي أقوم بها من أجل تسويق الرياضة في الفجر، وأحاول من خلال هذه الحملة أن يكون المجتمع صباحيا، بالإضافة إلى بعض النشاطات البيئية فأنا ناشط في حماية القرش الحوت، وقابلت مسؤولين، ووصلت إلى مرحلة بدأ فيها الناس يرونني كبيئي، فسخت العباءة، واتجهت إلى الاستدامة التي حققت فيها نجاحات، وكانت هناك شراكات ناجحة حتى ألبسني الناس عباءة الاستدامة، ففسختها، وبدأت نشاطا آخر، فأنا أحاول أن أضع أثرا في كل مجال أهتم به، ولا أفضل مصطلح إعلامي، لأني أؤمن بثقافة الشعوب، وأرى نفسي رحالة أكثر من إعلامي.

•  إلى أي مدى تؤثر النجومية في هذه المسارات التي اخترتها؟

النجومية تحقق أهدافي، والظهور الإعلامي يساعدني في تحقيق أهدافي، ولا أحبذ أن تصلني دعوة مكتوب فيها “الإعلامي”، لا أريد أن أبتعد عن التخصص، ودائماً ما أنصح الشباب بضرورة التخصص، وأحاول قدر المستطاع أن أحافظ على توجهي
