Al-Attiyah loses World Rally Championship title after receiving a two-minute penalty

Riyadh: on December 16 The Committee of the International Federation of Automobiles organising The International Baha Hail II, the fifth and final stage of the 2020 short-distance Desert Rally World Cup, imposed a two-minute penalty on Qatari driver Nasser al-Attiyah to lose the world title after falling from first to second place, due to exceeding the permissible speed according to the specified laws.
The committee also decided to impose time penalties for exceeding the permissible speed limit on four drivers inside the first eight positions, but the two-minute penalty on Al-Attiyah was enough to lose him the title of Baha Hail II in favor of The Spaniard Carlos Sainz, who advanced to the first place despite being also subjected to a one-minute penalty.
After the confirmation of deduction, Al-Attiyah, along with his French navigator Mathieu Bomel on the Toyota Hilux, slipped to second place in Baha Hail with a total time of 4.51.30 hours, 0.6 seconds behind Spain’s Carlos Sainz, with his navigator and compatriot Lucas Cruz on the Mini Cooper, who secured the title despite being subjected to a one-minute penalty, and finished first in a total time of 4.51.24 hours.

الرياض: فرضت اللجنة التابعة للاتحاد الدولي للسيارات والمنظمة لباها حائل الثاني الدولي، الجولة الخامسة والأخيرة من بطولة كأس العالم للراليات الصحراوية القصيرة للموسم 2020، عقوبة خصم دقيقتين /بلانتي/ من السائق القطري ناصر العطية ليفقد اللقب العالمي بعدما تراجع من المركز الأول إلى الثاني، وذلك بسبب تجاوزه السرعة المسموحة حسب القوانين المحددة.
كما قررت اللجنة فرض عقوبات زمنية على السرعة الزائدة على أربعة سائقين داخل المراكز الثمانية الأولى، إلا أن عقوبة الدقيقتين على العطية كانت كافية لخسارته لقب باها حائل الثاني لصالح الإسباني كارلوس ساينز الذي تقدم إلى المركز الأول على الرغم من تعرضه هو الآخر لعقوبة خصم دقيقة واحدة.
وبعد إقرار الخصم تراجع العطية بصحبة ملاحه الفرنسي ماثيو بوميل على متن سيارة /تويوتا هايلوكس/، إلى المركز الثاني في باها حائل بزمن إجمالي قدره 4.51.30 ساعات، وبفارق 0.6 ثوان عن الإسباني كارلوس ساينز بصحبة ملاحه ومواطنه لوكاس كروز على متن سيارة /ميني كوبر/ الذي حسم اللقب رغم تعرضه لعقوبة خصم هو الآخر قدرها دقيقة واحدة، واحتل المركز الأول بزمن إجمالي قدره 4.51.24 ساعات.
