Silatech to Design Solutions for Post-COVID Era

Doha: Silatech, the international, socio-economic development organization that seeks to connect youth with meaningful jobs and sustainable employment opportunities brought together a dynamic group of motivated youth from the MENA region during an inspiring ‘Designing Post-COVID Humanity’ (DPCH) interactive networking session, specifically created to develop innovative ideas and tangible solutions aimed at empowering youth facing compounding challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In addition, the networking session served as a platform for youth to engage with one another and provided them with opportunities to engage with potential partners to facilitate their social entrepreneur initiatives.

The networking session led by Silatech provided various insights to the 229 young participants of DPCH 3T program – design post covid humanity – taaruf, taawun and tarahum.

“With the diligent structure and effective implementation of the session by Silatech youth advocates, participants from 43 different countries had a chance to acquaint themselves with the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem of Qatar. Furthermore, Silatech (taaruf) played a key role and was instrumental in connecting youth and cooperating during the case studies (taawun) and cultivated for a more merciful future (tarahum) for youth,” acknowledged Assistant Dean of Innovation and Community Development and Associate Professor at Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) Dr. Evren Tok.

Silatech youth advocates Haya Al Thani and Ahmed Al Tamimi moderated the discussions, covering important topics including, youth and women empowerment, jobs, capacity building and Silatechs quest to achieve 5 million jobs by 2022.

Participants explored real life case studies of marginalized youth within vulnerable communities, rising unemployment, diminishing resources, lack of education, and the importance of capacity building for youth, especially women.

To understand the complexity of the struggles and provide appropriate solutions, youth attendees defined the issues and contributed viable recommendations alongside youth empowerment and innovation experts from UNDP Lebanon and Riyada Innovation to establish the way forward and bring about proven solutions to change lives for the better.

“When we empower women, we contribute to the economy and the development of their societies,” stated Social & Local Development Officer, UNDP Lebanon Nada Sweidan. “Covid-19 has not only affected loss of jobs but also impacted us mentally, and we miss the human interaction,” added Sweidan.

“We focus on transforming youth into social innovators and change makers by providing them with the right skills, social innovation, and social entrepreneur skills, said a representative of Riyada Innovation Jihane Charaf El Dine.

الدوحة: عقدت /صلتك/، المؤسسة التنموية الدولية التي تعمل على ربط الشباب بالوظائف وفرص العمل المستدامة، جلسة تفاعلية عبر الإنترنت لتطوير أفكار إبداعية وحلول ملموسة تهدف لتمكين الشباب الذين يواجهون تحديات معقدة بسبب جائحة كورونا /كوفيد – 19/.

وشكلت الجلسة التفاعلية ،التي شارك فيها أكثر من 200 شاب وشابة من منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال إفريقيا، منصة للشباب للحوار مع بعضهم البعض ومنحتهم الفرصة للانخراط والتفاعل مع شركاء آخرين لتسهيل مبادراتهم في مجال الريادة الاجتماعية.

وتناولت الجلسة، التي جاءت ضمن برنامج “تصميم إنسانية ما بعد /كوفيد – 19/ – تعارف، تعاون وتراحم” الذي أطلقته كلية الدراسات الإسلامية التابعة لجامعة حمد بن خليفة، العديد من المقترحات بالإضافة إلى تبادل الأفكار بين الشباب كما ركزت النقاشات على العديد من القضايا بما فيها تمكين الشباب والمرأة، والوظائف، وبناء القدرات وكذلك هدف /صلتك/ المتمثل في توفير 5 ملايين وظيفة بنهاية عام 2022.

وتطرق المشاركون إلى دراسة حالات واقعية لشباب مهمش في مجتمعات ضعيفة تعاني من ارتفاع البطالة وشح الموارد وعدم الوصول للتعليم، كما ناقشوا أهمية بناء قدرات الشباب وخصوصاً النساء.

وللوصول إلى فهم للتحديات المعقدة والحلول المناسبة، قام المشاركون بتحديد المشكلات وتقديم توصيات مجدية بالمشاركة مع خبراء تمكين الشباب والابتكار من البرنامج الإنمائي للأمم المتحدة في لبنان ومؤسسة “ريادة” لتحديد سبل المضي قدماً والتوصل إلى حلول مفيدة للتغلب على هذه التحديات وتغيير حياة الشباب نحو الأفضل.

وفي هذا الصدد قال الدكتور إيفرن توك الأستاذ المشارك والعميد المساعد للمبادرات الإبداعية والتنمية المجتمعية بجامعة حمد بن خليفة إنه من خلال تصميم /صلتك/ الجيد للجلسة والتنفيذ الفعال من جانب مناصريها الشباب، استطاع المشاركون من 43 دولة التعرف على مناخ ريادة الأعمال والإبداع في قطر.

وأضاف أن الجلسة التفاعلية ساهمت في تقارب الشباب من خلال التعاون في دراسات الحالة للوصول إلى مستقبل أكثر تراحماً للشباب.

من جانبها ، أوضحت السيدة ندى سويدان مسؤولة التنمية المجتمعية والمحلية في البرنامج الإنمائي للأمم المتحدة أنه عند تمكين النساء، فإنهن يساهمن في التنمية الاقتصادية وتنمية مجتمعاتهن أيضاً مشيرة إلى أن تداعيات جائحة كورونا /كوفيد – 19/ لم تقف عند حد فقدان الوظائف فحسب، لكنها أثرت على الجميع نفسياً بعد أن أفقدتهم التواصل الإنساني.
