The 10th anniversary of Qatar being chosen to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup

Doha: The World Cup is the most important football sport held under the auspices of the International Federation of FIFA. The World Cup has been held every four years since 1930, except for the 1942 and 1946 tournaments that were cancelled due to World War II. Since 1998, 32 national teams have participated in the current system, divided into eight groups, and are competing to win the championship title for a month at the stadiums of the host country. These teams qualify for the tournament through a three-year qualifying system.

On Thursday 2-12-2010, the State of Qatar won the honour of organizing the 2022 FIFA World Cup, following its selection in the vote that took place at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. FIFA President Joseph Blatter announced the voting result for Qatar to become the first Arab and Middle Eastern country to host the World Cup. Today marks the tenth anniversary of Qatar’s choice to host the 2022 World Cup, which is only two years apart.

As for the positives that contributed to the victory of the Qatar 2022 file:

• Qatar has been characterized by the use of modern and environmentally friendly technologies in the construction of stadiums, training areas and audience areas, where everyone will be able to enjoy a wonderful atmosphere; Precisely because the World Cup will be organized in November or December, when the weather is moderate and monsoon rains fall.

• The State of Qatar has a lot of experience in organizing major sporting events, as it organized the FIFA World Youth Cup in 1995, one of the best Asian Games in history in 2006, the AFC Asian Cup and the Pan Arab Games in 2011, the Volleyball World Cup in 2015 in addition to hosting international tennis tournaments, Qatar Motorcycle Grand Prix, and the World Athletics Indoor Championships.

The tournament will be organized in a country with a small geographical area with close distances, as all the stadiums in which the matches will be held are located in close areas in the centre of Doha, which means that moving between areas will not require more than one hour, and this will enable all visitors and fans to Attend more than one match per day, without the need to waste a long time travelling between cities and stadiums.

It is noteworthy that the competition for the honour of hosting was among five final files, namely Qatar, Japan, South Korea, Australia and the United States of America.

الدوحة: كأس العالم هي أهم مسابقة لرياضة كرة القدم تقام تحت إشراف الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم. وتقام بطولة كأس العالم كل أربع سنوات منذ عام 1930، ما عدا بطولتي عام 1942 و1946 اللتين ألغيتا بسبب الحرب العالمية الثانية. يشارك في النظام الحالي للبطولة 32 منتخبا وطنيا، منذ 1998، مقسمين على ثماني مجموعات، يتنافسون للظفر بلقب البطولة لشهر كامل على ملاعب البلد المستضيف. تتأهل هذه المنتخبات إلى البطولة عن طريق نظام للتصفيات يقام على مدى ثلاث سنوات.

فازت دولة قطر يوم الخميس الواقع ب 2-12-2010 بشرف تنظيم بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم عام 2022 إثر اختيارها في التصويت الذي جرى بمقر الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم (فيفا) في مدينة زيورخ السويسرية، حيث أعلن رئيس الفيفا “جوزيف بلاتر” عن نتيجة التصويت لتصبح قطر أول دولة عربية وشرق أوسطية تستضيف كأس العالم.

وتحل اليوم الذكرى العاشرة على مرور اختيار دولة قطر لإستضافة كأس العالم 2022 الذي بات يفصلنا عنه عامان فقط.

و بالنسبة للإيجابيات التي ساهمت بفوز ملف قطر 2022 فهي:

• تميزت قطر باستخدام تقنيات حديثة وصديقة للبيئة في إنشاء الملاعب ومناطق التدريب ومناطق الجمهور، حيث سيكون باستطاعة الجميع التمتع بأجواء رائعة؛ وبالتحديد لأن تنظيم فعاليات المونديال سيكون في شهر نوفمبر أو ديسمبر حيث اعتدال الطقس وسقوط الأمطار الموسمية.

• امتلاك دولة قطر خبرة كبيرة في تنظيم الأحداث الرياضية الكبرى، حيث نظمت كأس العالم للشباب عام 1995، وإحدى أفضل دورات الألعاب الآسيوية في التاريخ عام 2006، وكأس آسيا لكرة القدم ودورة الألعاب العربية عام 2011، وكأس العالم لكرة اليد عام 2015 إضافة إلى استضافة بطولات عالمية في التنس والدراجات النارية وبطولة العالم لألعاب القوى داخل القاعات.

• سيتم تنظيم البطولة بدولة ذات مساحة جغرافية صغيرة بمسافات متقاربة، حيث أن كافة الاستادات التي ستقام عليها المباريات تقع في مناطق متقاربة وسط مدينة الدوحة، الأمر الذي يعني أن التنقل بينها لن يتطلب أكثر من ساعة واحدة كحد أقصى، وهذا بشأنه سيمكن كافة الزوار والمشجعين من حضور أكثر من مباراة في اليوم الواحد، دون الحاجة لإهدار وقت طويل في التنقل بين المدن والملاعب.

ومن الجدير بالذكر أن المنافسة على شرف الاستضافة كانت بين خمسة ملفات نهائية، وهي قطر واليابان وكوريا الجنوبية وأستراليا والولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.
