Zurich: FIFA’s Independent Ethics Committee has handed the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Ahmad Ahmad, a five-year ban from all football-related activities.
In addition to the sanction, Ahmad was punished with a fine of 200,000 Swiss Franc.
The adjudicatory chamber of the Independent Ethics Committee found Ahmad guilty of abuse of office, misappropriation of funds and, offering gifts and other benefits as CAF president and FIFA vice-president.
Ahmad Ahmad had announced earlier that he intends to pursue the presidency of the African Union for a second term and run for the elections scheduled for next March.

زيورخ: أعلن الاتحاد الدولي لكرة القدم /فيفا/ يوم الأمس، إيقاف السيد أحمد أحمد رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي للعبة /كاف/ خمس سنوات عن ممارسة أي نشاط يتعلق بكرة القدم، “بعد أن أثبتت تحقيقات لجنة القيم المستقلة ارتكابه مخالفات مالية وإدارية”.
كما تم تغريم رئيس الاتحاد الإفريقي مبلغ 200 ألف فرنك سويسري، على أن يحق له التظلم خلال 60 يوما من القرار.
وكان السيد أحمد أحمد أعلن في وقت سابق أنه ينوي السعي للاستمرار في رئاسة الاتحاد الإفريقي لولاية ثانية والترشح لخوض الانتخابات المقررة في شهر مارس المقبل.
