Aspetar Recognized as AFC Medical Centre of Excellence

Doha: The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has recognized Aspetar, the Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital in Qatar, as the AFC’s Medical Centre of Excellence network, during a virtual ceremony held on Monday.

Aspetar will now be part of the network of established medical centers under the AFC Medical Centre of Excellence which was launched in 2018 to provide better healthcare for the Continents footballers by recognizing medical centers in Asia which demonstrate leadership in clinical research and education expertise as well as injury-prevention and management measures.

Commenting on the occasion, AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa said: “The AFCs Vision and Mission has set out our objectives to ensure the success of our teams, players and officials and sports medicine plays an important role in this journey. As one of our long-standing partners, Aspetar has already grown to take its position as one of the leaders in protecting the wellbeing of players and the AFC would like to thank Aspetar and the Qatar Football Association for sharing our belief and Vision”.

For his part, AFC General Secretary Dato Windsor John praised the crucial role of Aspetar and all the Medical Centres of Excellence in raising the standards in sports science and medicine in Asia and their commitment to the care of players.

“We are confident that with this recognition, Aspetar will continue to elevate football and sports medicine through education and research collaboration in the Continent,” he said in a special video message to Aspetar.

As one of the AFCs long-standing partners, Aspetar continues to support the development of Asian football by contributing to sports medicine knowledge and scientific research, and by organizing several key scientific events.

The AFC and Aspetar have also been collaborating on several projects for more than a decade, including the initiation of the AFC/Aspetar Injury and Illness Surveillance Study in 2017 and organizing a series of medical conferences and workshops.

Aspetar General Director Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi said: “It is an honor to receive such a high recognition of our work and expertise and to join such an exclusive network of sports medicine centers of excellence. We are one of the leading sports medicine centers in the world, we believe at Aspetar that we can bring our experience in sports medicine and sports science to serve football in Asia, theres so much that can be done”.

الدوحة: اعتمد الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، /سبيتار/ مستشفى جراحة العظام والطب الرياضي في قطر كمركز مرجعي من ضمن شبكة المركز الطبي للتميز في الاتحاد، وذلك خلال الحفل الافتراضي الذي أقيم اليوم .

وانضم سبيتار إلى شبكة المراكز الطبية المرجعية كمركز طبي متميز في الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم، وهي شبكة تم إطلاقها في عام 2018 لتوفير أفضل رعاية صحية للاعبي كرة القدم في آسيا من خلال الاعتراف بالمراكز الطبية المتميزة في آسيا والتي تظهر ريادتها في مجال البحث السريري والخبرة التعليمية بالإضافة إلى تدابير الوقاية من الإصابات وعلاجها.

وبمناسبة تكريم سبيتار بهذا الاعتماد، قال الشيخ سلمان بن إبراهيم آل خليفة رئيس الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم “لقد حددت رؤية الاتحاد ورسالته أهدافنا المتمثلة في ضمان نجاح فرقنا ولاعبينا ومسؤولينا، حيث يلعب الطب الرياضي دورا هاما في هذه الرحلة”.

وأضاف “لقد أكد سبيتار مكانته كواحد من المؤسسات الطبية الرائدة في حماية صحة اللاعبين، ويعتبر شريكا لنا منذ فترة طويلة، ونود في الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم أن نقدم شكرنا لسبيتار والاتحاد القطري لكرة القدم على مشاركتهما مبادئنا ورؤيتنا”.

ونوه السيد داتو ويندسور جون الأمين العام للاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم بالدور الحاسم الذي يقوم به سبيتار وجميع مراكز التميز الطبية في رفع معايير العلوم والعلوم الرياضية في آسيا والتزامها برعاية اللاعبين، قائلا “نحن على ثقة من أنه مع هذا التقدير، سوف يساهم سبيتار في رفع مستوى كرة القدم والطب الرياضي في القارة من خلال التعليم والتعاون البحثي”.

ويعد مستشفى سبيتار أحد شركاء الاتحاد الآسيوي منذ سنوات عديدة، حيث يواصل المستشفى القطري دعم تطوير كرة القدم الآسيوية من خلال المساهمة في المعرفة في الطب الرياضي والبحث العلمي، وتنظيم العديد من الأحداث العلمية الرئيسية الهامة.

كما يتعاون الطرفان، الاتحاد الآسيوي لكرة القدم وسبيتار في العديد من المشاريع العلمية والبحثية لأكثر من عقد من الزمن، بما في ذلك إطلاق دراسة مراقبة الإصابات والأمراض في منافسة دوري أبطال آسيا لكرة القدم في عام 2017 والتنظيم المشترك لسلسلة من المؤتمرات وورش العمل الطبية .

ومن ناحيته قال السيد محمد خليفة السويدي، المدير العام لسبيتار: “يشرفنا أن نحظى بهذا التقدير الكبير بعملنا وخبرتنا وأن ننضم إلى هذه الشبكة الحصرية من مراكز الطب الرياضي المتميزة. كما أن سبيتار تعتز بهذا التكريم وهذه الشراكة باعتبارنا أحد مراكز الطب الرياضي الرائدة في العالم، ونعتقد في سبيتار أنه يمكننا أن نقدم خبراتنا في الطب الرياضي وعلوم الرياضة لخدمة كرة القدم في آسيا بشكل مميز، فهناك الكثير مما يمكننا القيام به”.
