QIIB Wins Four International Prizes

Doha; The prestigious International Institution REDmoney has awarded QIIB four prizes as part of the IFN Awards 2020, in recognition of the bank’s achievements, particularly the issuance of permanent instruments within the first tranche of the capital with a value of $300mn in November 2019.

When awarding the four prizes, which included the ‘Deal of the Year’ and the ‘Capital Deal of the Year’ prizes for 2019, REDmoney considered many grounds, namely the great success achieved in issuing instruments, and the high confidence and credibility QIIB was able to build with investors, who have been attracted by the bank’s various instruments.

REDmoney emphasised that QIIB’s high rating and its strong financial position qualify it to continue achieving its goals, reaching the target growth rates and expanding in the domestic and foreign market alike.

Commenting on the bank’s awards’ winning, QIIB Chief Executive Officer Dr. Abdulbasit Ahmad Al Shaibei said, “We thank the prestigious REDmoney institution for awarding four prizes to the QIIB at the IFN Awards 2020, after the bank’s success in issuing permanent instruments within the first tranche of the capital with a value of $300mn in November 2019. We consider this award winning as an indicator of the great success the Qatari economy is achieving. Any prize we win or achieve is primarily due to the inherent strength of the Qatari economy, in the light of the advantages it provides various economic sectors, especially the banking sector.”

He noted, “The selection of our instruments issuance for awarding the ‘Deal of the Year’ prize and the other prizes we won is a deserved achievement. This issuance has been highly popular with investors from around the world, with the issue getting oversubscribed by nearly nine times, exceeding $2.6bn and involving as many as 122 institutions from some 22 countries.”

Dr. Al Shaibei said, “It is the first time that a Qatari bank allotted this type of issuance within the first tranche of the capital at an international level, as all the issuances, either instruments or bonds, were financing tools and their maturity period do not exceed five years.”

He continued: “Our issuance of instruments proves again that this important investment tool represents a popular and reliable financing solution, as well as an occasion for the QIIB to strengthen its presence in the international financial instruments market.

“The bank will continue to implement its strategic and phased plans that focus on strengthening the bank financial position and forging more partnerships at various local, regional and international levels,” the QIIB CEO assured.

QIIB succeeded in issuing permanent instruments within the first tranche of the capital with a value of $300mn in November 2019.

These were listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) during a high-profile ceremony held at the Stock Exchange.

The banks that arranged QIIB’s Additional Tier l Perpetual Sukuk of $300mn were QNB Capital, Standard Chartered Bank, Barwa Bank, Kuwait International Bank, Q Invest and Al Khaleeji.

الدوحة: منحت مؤسسة /Red money/، بنك الدولي الإسلامي أربع جوائز ضمن جوائز /IFN/ للعام الجاري وذلك تقديرا لإنجازات البنك، لاسيما إصداره لصكوك دائمة ضمن الشريحة الأولى من رأس المال بقيمة 300 مليون دولار أمريكي في نوفمبر للعام الماضي.

واستندت /Red money/ في حيثيات منح الجوائز الأربع للبنك، وبينها جائزة صفقة العام وجائزة صفقة رأس المال التنظيمي للعام الماضي إلى جملة من المعطيات أهمها النجاح الذي حققه في إصداره من الصكوك، والثقة والمصداقية العالية التي استطاع البنك بناءها مع المستثمرين الذين أقبلوا بشكل كبير على صكوك الدولي الإسلامي.

وأكدت أن التصنيف المرتفع الذي يحظى به البنك، والمركز المالي القوي الذي يتمتع به تؤهله لأن يواصل تحقيق أهدافه وبلوغ نسب النمو المستهدفة والتوسع في السوق المحلية والخارجية.

وتعليقا على الفوز، قال الدكتور عبدالباسط أحمد الشيبي الرئيس التنفيذي للدولي الإسلامي “نشكر مؤسسة /Red money/ العريقة على منح الدولي الإسلامي أربع جوائز ضمن حفل جوائز IFN Awards لعام 2020، وذلك على خلفية نجاح البنك في إصدار صكوك دائمة ضمن الشريحة الأولى من رأس المال بقيمة 300 مليون دولار أمريكي في نوفمبر 2019، ونعتبر هذه الجوائز بمثابة مؤشر من المؤشرات الكثيرة على النجاح الكبير الذي يحققه الاقتصاد القطري، وأي جائزة نفوز بها أو إنجاز نحققه إنما يعود بالدرجة الأولى إلى قوة الاقتصاد القطري، والمزايا التي يوفرها لمختلف القطاعات التي تعمل فيه وفي مقدمتها القطاع المصرفي”.

وأضاف “أن اختيار إصدارنا من الصكوك لجائزة صفقة العام، والجوائز الأخرى التي فزنا بها هو إنجاز مستحق، فقد حظي هذا الإصدار بإقبال كبير من قبل المستثمرين من مختلف دول العالم، حيث بلغ عدد مرات التغطية نحو 9 أضعاف حجم الإصدار، بما يتجاوز 2.6 مليار دولار أمريكي، وشمل أكثر من 122 مؤسسة من أكثر من 22 دولة”.

ونوه إلى “أنها كانت المرة الأولى التي يقوم فيها بنك قطري بإصدار مثل هذا النوع من الإصدار ضمن الشريحة الأولى من رأس المال على المستوى الدولي، حيث إن جميع الإصدارات من الصكوك والسندات كانت صكوكا تمويلية ولا تتجاوز فترة استحقاقها الخمس سنوات”.

وتابع قائلا “لقد مثل إصدارنا من الصكوك شهادة متجددة على أن هذه الأداة الاستثمارية الهامة إنما تمثل حلا تمويليا رائجا وذا مصداقية عالية، كما أنه مناسبة للدولي الإسلامي لتعزيز تواجده في أسواق الأدوات المالية الدولية”.

وأكد “أن البنك سيواصل تنفيذ خططه الاستراتيجية والمرحلية التي تركز على تعزيز المركز المالي للبنك، ونسج المزيد من الشراكات على مختلف المستويات المحلية والإقليمية والدولية”.

وكان الدولي الإسلامي قد نجح في إصدار صكوك دائمة ضمن الشريحة الأولى من رأس المال بقيمة 300 مليون دولار أمريكي في نوفمبر عام 2019، وتم إدراجها في بورصة لندن خلال مراسم جرت في مقر البورصة.
