Barwa Bank Announces Rebranding into “Dukhan Bank”

Doha: Barwa Bank announced on Wednesday its rebranding into “Dukhan Bank”, during a virtual ceremony attended by HE Governor of Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Abdullah bin Saoud Al-Thani, HE Deputy Governor of Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al-Thani, and HE Chairman and Managing Director of Dukhan Bank Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani.

Under its vision to cement its position as “Qatars Bank of Choice”, the banks rebranding comes at a time of massive transformation for the group. The bank is eyeing a fully digital infrastructure that delivers on operational efficiency and profitability, as well as on secure, simplified and seamless banking experience for its customers.

The rebranding also reflects a shift in the banks mindset toward product and service innovation; guided by the mission to empower people in solving their everyday problems and planning for their financial present, rather than for their distant future.

The banks new name takes after the Dukhan city, West Qatar, the site of the first substantial oil reserve to have been discovered in the country in 1937; a milestone discovery that has laid the foundations for Qatars economic and social growth for over eight decades. Today, as Qatar ushers in yet another economic transformation toward knowledge-based and digital industries, Dukhan has transcended its physical significance to its symbolic power. It remains a beacon of change that transforms a nation, that crosses geographies and that moves societies forward.

On this occasion, HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Saoud Al-Thani, Governor of Qatar Central Bank, said: “Were glad to witness the birth of this new emblem and journey. Best wishes to our brothers in the Board of Directors, the Executive Management as well as the depositors and shareholders. We wish for the bank prosperity and progress at these particular times that are filled with challenges in the banking and economical fields”.

From his part, HE Sheikh Mohammad bin Hamad bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman and Managing Director of Dukhan Bank, said: “Today, we celebrate the unveiling of our new brand which goes beyond a mere change in name but, rather, acts as the turning point of a new beginning which stems from a firm belief in continuous innovation despite all challenges. It means to have a new mindset that keeps pace with the folds of our present and fulfils our commitment to meet our customers and stakeholders aspirations in the future”.

“It has taken us a lot of time, effort and contemplation to define our new vision, mission and culture which embrace all of our shared experiences. At the same time, we have studied our organisation, implemented major improvements, and enhanced our central operations when finalising Dukhan Bank as a financial services provider which not only gives our customers a banking experience that meets their needs but one that goes beyond their expectations,” HE added.

On the strategic direction of the rebranding, Group Chief Executive Officer at Dukhan Bank Khalid Al Subeai commented: “At Dukhan Bank, we provide real-life and innovative solutions in Qatar to contribute to reinforcing the banking sector, providing banking products and services that meet the needs and interests of customers”.

The rebranding announcement comes nearly a year after the official completion of the legal merger between Barwa Bank and the International Bank of Qatar (ibq). The merger, the first ever in Qatars history, brought two of the nations leading and most dynamic financial players under one roof, establishing a powerhouse Shariah compliant financial institution backed by robust liquidity and solvency levels.

Prior to its rebranding as Dukhan Bank, the consolidated entity continued to operate under the name of Barwa Bank following the completion of the operational merger.

الدوحة: كشف بنك بروة، اليوم، خلال حفل أقيم، عن بعد، عن هويته الجديدة تحت اسم /بنك دخان/ حضره سعادة الشيخ عبدالله بن سعود آل ثاني محافظ مصرف قطر المركزي، وسعادة الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن قاسم آل ثاني نائب محافظ المصرف، وسعادة الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الإدارة والعضو المنتدب.

وقال البنك إنه في إطار تطلعه ليكون “الخيار المصرفي المفضل في قطر” وتثبيتا لهذه المكانة، أتت إعادة تسميته في ظل تحول إيجابي كبير تشهده المجموعة، وتطلعها لرقمنة أعمالها بما يوفر الكفاءة التشغيلية والربحية، بالإضافة إلى تأمين تجربة مصرفية آمنة وسلسة للعملاء.

وأشار إلى أن عملية تغيير العلامة التجارية تعكس تطورا في منهجية البنك لجهة ابتكار المنتجات والخدمات، حيث يهدف إلى تمكين العملاء من حل مسائلهم اليومية والتخطيط لحاضرهم المالي بعناية بما يتماشى مع الاحتياجات الفردية الملحة.

وعلل البنك اختياره للاسم الجديد إلى مدينة دخان في منطقة الشيحانية غربي البلاد، حيث اكتشف أول حقل نفطي كبير في دولة قطر عام 1937، ما شكل مهد النمو الاقتصادي والاجتماعي في البلاد لأكثر من ثمانية عقود، واليوم ومع دخول قطر مرحلة أخرى من التحول الاقتصادي نحو الصناعات الرقمية وتلك القائمة على المعرفة، تخطت دخان أهميتها المكانية والمادية لتشكل قيمة رمزية كبيرة عنوانها تقدم الدولة نحو الأفضل ودفع المجتمع إلى الأمام.

وبهذه المناسبة، أعرب سعادة الشيخ عبدالله بن سعود آل ثاني محافظ مصرف قطر المركزي عن سعادته بهذه الانطلاقة الجديدة للبنك.. متمنيا كل التوفيق لأعضاء مجلس الإدارة والإدارة التنفيذية والمودعين والمساهمين على أمل التطور والتقدم الدائمين خصوصا في ظل هذه الأوقات التي تعج بالتحديات المصرفية والاقتصادية.

بدوره، قال سعادة الشيخ محمد بن حمد بن جاسم آل ثاني رئيس مجلس الإدارة والعضو المنتدب في بنك دخان “نحتفل معكم اليوم بالكشف عن هويتنا الجديدة والتي تتجاوز مجرد تغيير على مستوى الاسم، لتشكل نقطة تحول نحو بداية جديدة تنبع من إيماننا الراسخ بمواصلة الابتكار رغم كل التحديات، والتحلي بذهنية جديدة تواكب ثنايا حاضرنا، والتمسك بثقافة الالتزام لتلبية تطلعات عملائنا ومساهمينا، على حد سواء”.

وأشار إلى أن البنك يسعى لتطوير الخدمات بأحدث أنظمة التكنولوجيا المصرفية ومضاعفة المساعي نحو تحقيق الأهداف الاستراتيجية بما يعزز مكانة البنك في القطاع المصرفي وينمي حصته السوقية والمساهمة في تحقيق أهداف رؤية قطر 2030 ومواصلة تنمية قاعدة رأس المال البشري وتوسيع نطاق الاستعانة بالكفاءات والكوادر القطرية وتنمية مهاراتهم للمساهمة في نهضة دولة قطر.

وفي هذا الإطار، قال السيد طلال أحمد الخاجة، الرئيس التنفيذي للتسويق والاتصال في هذا البنك إن”اختيار اسم دخان هو تخليد لإرث يرسي دعائم المستقبل، وتتلاقى خبراتنا مع التوجهات العصرية لتثمر حلولا مصرفية مبتكرة تواكب العصر وتعكس متطلبات الأفراد اليومية. من هنا، نتطلع لتشجيع الأفراد على اتخاذ قرارات مصرفية سليمة وتوفير خدمات ومنتجات تلبي تطلعات العملاء”.

ويأتي الإعلان عن الاسم والشعار الجديدين بعد مرور عام على الاندماج الرسمي بين بنك بروة وبنك قطر الدولي، وهو الاندماج الأول من نوعه في تاريخ قطر، وقد جمع اثنين من أبرز اللاعبين الماليين الرائدين والأكثر ديناميكية في الدولة تحت سقف واحد، ما أدى إلى إنشاء مؤسسة مالية قوية متوافقة مع الشريعة الإسلامية مدعومة بمستويات قوية من السيولة والملاءة المالية.

يذكر أنه قبل تغيير علامته التجارية إلى بنك دخان، استمر الكيان الموحد في العمل تحت اسم بنك بروة بعد الانتهاء من الاندماج التشغيلي.
