3rd Local Camel Festival Kicks Off

Doha: The third local festival of authentic Arabian camels kicked off this morning under the supervision of the organizing committee for camel racing, which sees the return of competitions on two periods “morning and evening” on the fields of Al-Shahaniya and Libsear amid precautionary and preventive measures in accordance with the health protocol adopted by the state.

The competitions of the first day will be for the two categories (al-Hakayik and Al-Lakaya) during the first day of open competition (camels of members of tribes) on Libsear North Field.

For his part, Mubarak Badi al-Nuaimi, director of the Department of Racing and Activities in the Organizing Committee for Camel Racing, stressed that the current season is exceptional by all standards, especially in light of precautionary and preventive measures, and we must thank all owners and supporters for their full commitment to preventive instructions. He added: There are new and record times that were recorded during the first and second festivals in the young age, which happens for the first time, in addition to the fact that the procurement market ignited early through the summer festivals that took place last July and August, which is due to the fact that the owners miss the competitions after last season suddenly stopped due to the spread of the coronavirus.

He said that something new is also happening for the first time, the organizing committee of the race succeeded in increasing the number of car prizes by 30% in the race from third to fifth, where last season there were 20 cars per race, but this season increased to 30 cars per race to a total of 90 cars instead of 60 last season.

Mubarak bin Badi al-Nuaimi also said that there are currently a large number of camel owners from the gulf countries, specifically Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and Oman, preparing to reach the port of Qatar to participate in the upcoming local festivals due to the increase in the value of the prizes, in addition to the fact that Qatari owners who have camels abroad have now also begun to bring them to the port in preparation for participation.

الدوحة: تنطلق اليوم منافسات المهرجان المحلي الثالث للهجن العربية الأصيلة تحت إشراف اللجنة المُنظمة لسباق الهجن، والذي يشهد عودة المنافسات على فترتين «صباحية ومسائية» على ميداني الشحانية ولبصير وسط إجراءات احترازية ووقائية طبقًا للبروتوكول الصحي المعتمد من الدولة.

وستكون منافسات اليوم الأول لفئتي الحقايق واللقايا للأشواط المفتوحة «هجن أصحاب السمو والسعادة الشيوخ» في الشحانية، وتقام منافسات نفس الفئتين «الحقايق واللقايا» خلال اليوم الأول لأشواط العامة «هجن أبناء القبائل» في ميدان لبصير الشمالي.

ومن جانبه أكد مبارك بادي النعيمي مدير إدارة السباقات والأنشطة في اللجنة المنظمة لسباقات الهجن أن الموسم الحالي استثنائي بكل المقاييس خاصة في ظل الإجراءات الاحترازية والوقائية، ولا بد أن نوجّه الشكر والتحية لكل الملاك والمضمرين على التزامهم التام بالتعليمات الوقائية. وأضاف: هناك توقيتات جديدة وقياسية تمت خلال المهرجانين الأول والثاني في السن الصغيرة وهو أمر يحدث لأول مرة، بالإضافة إلى أن سوق المشتريات اشتعل مبكرًا من خلال المهرجانات الصيفية التي تمّت في يوليو وأغسطس الماضيين وهو أمر يرجع إلى أن الملاك مشتاقون للمنافسات بعد أن توقف الموسم الماضي فجأة نتيجة انتشار فيروس كورونا.

وقال إن هناك أمرًا جديدًا يحدث أيضًا لأول مرة، فقد نجحت اللجنة المُنظمة للسباق في زيادة عدد جوائز السيارات بنسبة 30% على صعيد السباقات من الثالث للخامس، حيث كانت في الموسم الماضي 20 سيارة لكل سباق ولكن في الموسم الحالي زادت إلى 30 سيارة في كل سباق ليصبح الإجمالي 90 سيارة بدلًا من 60 في الموسم الماضي.

كما قال مبارك بن بادي النعيمي إن هناك حاليًا عددًا كبيرًا من هجن الملاك من الدول الخليجية الشقيقة وتحديدًا السعودية والكويت وعمان يستعدون للوصول إلى ميناء قطر للمُشاركة في المهرجانات المحلية المقبلة نظرًا لزيادة قيمة الجوائز، بالإضافة إلى أن الملاك القطريين لديهم حلال في الخارج بدأوا في إحضارها حاليًا أيضًا للميناء تمهيدًا للمُشاركة.
