Qatar’s population shrinks for first time in 2020

Over a span of 30 days, Qatar saw its population shrinking by 20,000 people from 2.81 million in May to 2.79 million in June, according to the Planning and Statistics Authority.
The decline follows a slow but steady rise in population since January 2020. The figure stood at 2.27 million in January, 2.78 million in February, 2.79 million in March and 2.805 million in April.
In the July edition of PSA’s monthly report featuring statistics in June, the authority said the male population in Qatar stands at 2.034 million and that of females at 760,094.
As many as 310 couples got married in Qatar in June. Divorces, on the other hand, numbered 76.

على مدى 30 يوماً، شهدت قطر تقلصاً في عدد سكانها بمقدار 20 ألف نسمة من 2.81 مليون نسمة في مايو إلى 2.79 مليون نسمة في يونيو، وفقاً لهيئة التخطيط والإحصاء.
ويأتي هذا الانخفاض في أعقاب ارتفاع بطيء ولكن مطرد في عدد السكان منذ يناير 2020. وبلغ هذا الرقم 2.27 مليون فى يناير و2.78 مليون فى فبراير و2.79 مليون فى مارس و2.805 مليون فى ابريل .
وفي عدد يوليو من التقرير الشهري لهيئة التخطيط والإحصاء الذي يتضمن إحصاءات من يونيو، قالت الهيئة إن عدد السكان الذكور في قطر يبلغ 2.034 مليون نسمة والإناث 760,094.
تزوج ما يصل إلى 310 أزواج في قطر في يونيو. أما حالات الطلاق، فمن ناحية أخرى، بلغ عددها 76.
