Massive Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra leak reveals the key specs

Leak after leak has revealed stunning details about Samsung’s imminent Galaxy Note 20+ (potentially Ultra). But now we know the smart money should run a million miles from the Galaxy Note 20. And this is why

In a series of updates, prolific Samsung insider Ice Universe has revealed the Galaxy Note 20 is a shocking hollow shell of a smartphone which the leaker believes is not even worthy of its name. And, if he’s correct, he’s right.

06/19 Update: Ice Universe has shared new details about the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra (he uses this, not Plus, which is interesting in itself) and it does put the Note 20 to shame. The leaker explains the Note 20 Ultra, unlike the Note 20, will further reduce its bezel size: “The bezel on both sides are narrowed by 0.29mm. The forehead and chin together narrowed a total of 0.4mm. The hole diameter is reduced by 1mm. The thickness of the fuselage is reduced by 0.3mm.” He states the flagship phone will also have a 120Hz LPTO display, which should deliver major battery life savings, and a Snapdragon 865+ – an upgraded version of the 865 featured in the Galaxy S20 range. This is the first we have heard about this specific upgrade. Coupled with everything else we know, the Note 20 Ultra is shaping up to be Samsung’s standout phone of 2020.

06/20 Update: Ice Universe has shared further information comparing the Note 20 Ultra and Note 20 designs via new case leaks. The big difference is the camera with the Note 20 Plus showing a massive camera bump, seemingly identical to the Galaxy S20 Ultra. This lends further evidence to the flagship model getting Samsung’s 108MP camera (with focus enhancements) and adds credence to the ‘Ultra’ naming. Interestingly, the name appears to be a decision that will go to the wire given the case maker lists the device as both Note 20 Ultra and Note 20 Plus on its packaging. By contrast, the Note 20 appears to use Galaxy S20 cameras which are perfectly solid, though the S20 line-up has failed to trouble the best smartphone cameras. Pricing will clearly make or break this model.

“Wide frame + flat screen + FHD resolution + 60Hz refresh rate. It’s a desperate specification” he states, adding: “Note20 ≈ Note20 Lite, its specifications are far from Note20 Ultra” and most damningly: “I think its comprehensive specifications are even lower than Note10, at least Note10 is still curved screen and narrow bezel.”

2020 chipset aside, Ice Universe has a point. In addition to its more premium design, the Galaxy Note 10 also added a 120Hz refresh rate option with the One UI 2.1 update Samsung released in April. If the Galaxy Note 20 is going to cut back this far back, then Ice Universe is right when he says “If you like, you can think of Note20 as A91”. For those who don’t know, the A range is Samsung’s midrange smartphone line-up but all signs suggest the Note 20 will not go easy on your wallet. 

Moreover, for Note fans, this makes the Galaxy Note 20+ (also certified as the Note 20 Ultra) by far the standout option. Not only does it have a stunning design, huge specification upgrades (which grind even the Galaxy S20 Ultra into the ground), it is set to be far more reasonably priced than the eye-watering S20 Ultra as well. 

That said, for Note fans hoping for a more appealing and budget-friendly Note, the answer is already touched upon above: the Galaxy Note 10 range. With the launch of the Note 20 models fast approaching, both the Note 10 and Note 10+ will see a dramatic price drop, and they have already fallen substantially from their 2019 launch prices. 

So unless Samsung has a major surprise up its sleeve, the answer is clear: forget the Galaxy Note 20 because not only will a far superior option launch alongside it, there are better options from 2019 as well.

كشف أحد التسريبات على موقع تويتر Ice Universe عن بعض مواصفات أحد هواتف عائلة جالاكسي نوت20 المرتقبة من شركة سامسونج.

ويُتوقع أن تعلن الشركة الكورية الجنوبية عن طرازين من الهاتف، الأول هو القياسي باسم (جالاكسي نوت20)، والآخر أكبر منه باسم (جالاكسي نوت20 ألترا) بدلًا من (جالاكسي نوت20 بلس) كما في العام الماضي.

ووفقًا لحساب Ice Universe – الذي له سجل من التسريبات الدقيقة – فإن هاتف (جالاكسي نوت20 ألترا) سيحتوي معالجًا من نوع (سنابدراجون 865بلس) من كوالكوم، كما سيقدم الهاتف حافات أضيق مقارنةً بسلفه (جالاكسي نوت10 بلس).

وسيقدم الهاتف شاشة مع معدل تحديث عالٍ قدره 120 هرتز، بالإضافة إلى دقة +QHD، وبخلاف هواتف (جالاكسي إس20)، فإن الهاتف سيدعم هاتين الميزتين معًا. كما تمتاز الشاشة بأنها ستكون من نوع LTPO OLED الذي يوفر كفاءة أفضل في استهلاك الطاقة.

وفيما يتعلق بالأبعاد، سيكون هاتف (جالاكسي نوت20 ألترا) أنحف بنحو 0.3 ميليمتر، في حين ستكون أبعاد ثقب الكاميرا الأمامية أصغر بنحو 1 ميليمتر.

وبالمقارنة مع هاتف (جالاكسي نوت10 بلس)، ستكون حافات (جالاكسي نوت20 ألترا) أضيق بنحو 0.29 ميليمتر.

أما الحافتان العلوية والسفلية للهاتف فستكونان أضيق بنحو 0.4 ميليمتر.

يُشار إلى أن تقريرًا سابقًا ذكر أن سامسونج تعتزم الإعلان عن هواتف (جالاكسي نوت20) مطلع شهر أغسطس القادم، وذلك إلى جانب ساعة ذكية جديدة، والجيل الثاني من هواتف سامسونج القابلة للطي (جالاكسي فولد)
