The first set of additional trains arrives for the Doha Metro

The Peninsula – Doha:
Qatar Rail announced that it received the new batch of trainsets at Hamad Port yesterday according to an agreement signed earlier with manufacturer Kinki Sharyo.
The batch consisting of two trains comes alongside 35 additional trains set to arrive in the country over the coming months.
According to the delivery schedule, the last batch will arrive by the end of the second quarter next year, increasing the total number of Doha metro trains serving the network from 75 trains to 110.
The new trains will be moved to the Qatar Rail Depot in Al-Wakra for assembly and testing purposes to be integrated later on into the existing rail system. All the necessary tests will be conducted on to ensure the highest standards of safety are met.
The additional trains will contribute to increasing the capacity of the metro network, as the country gears towards the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, which is expected to attract over a 1.5 million visitors. The trains will also serve the future expansion of the Doha Metro lines that Qatar Rail company intends to implement.
Abdullah Abdulaziz Al-Subaie, Managing Director and CEO of Qatar Rail stated: “The Doha Metro network provides a reliable and comfortable mean of transportation within the city as it extensively covers and connects the key destinations in Doha. The additional trainsets will undoubtedly boost the network’s capacity and decrease the headways on all the lines. Moreover, providing a comprehensive and seamless transport experience for visitors and crowds during the FIFA World Cup 2022. In addition, this strategic move will contribute to the achievement of the project’s long-term goals represented in the expansion of the current network.”
The Doha metro design embodies the Qatari heritage and culture combined with the state-of-the-art technology. It is designed and manufactured by Kinki Shario at its factories located in Osaka, Japan.
The Doha metro is considered one of the fastest driverless trains in the world and the fastest ever in the region, with a speed that reaches 100 km/h. Each train consists of three metro cars; one for the Gold and Family Class and two for the Standard Class. The gold class has 16 seats while the family car has 26 seats, and the two standard class cars have 88 seats, in total. The Doha Metro is distinguishable by its modern design that reflects the unique identity of Qatari heritage which is embodied through the exterior and interior designs.

أعلنت شركة سكك الحديد القطرية (الريل) عن استقبال أول مجموعة من قطارات مترو الدوحة الإضافية في ميناء حمد.
وأوضحت الشركة أن هذه المجموعة والتي تتألف من قطارين من ضمن 35 قطارا إضافيا تم طلبها حسب الاتفاقية التي أبرمت في وقت سابق مع الشركة المصنعة شركة /كينكي شاريو/، حيث ستصل باقي القطارات الإضافية خلال الأشهر القادمة وحسب الجدول الزمني بحلول الربع الثاني من العام القادم، وبذلك يرتفع عدد القطارات التي تخدم شبكة مترو الدوحة من 75 قطارا حاليا إلى 110 قطارات.
وذكرت الشركة أنه يتم نقل القطارات التي وصلت للميناء إلى مستودع شركة الريل في الوكرة للقيام بعملية تجميعها وتجربتها استعدادا لضمها للشبكة، حيث يشمل هذا الفحص التجريبي التأكد من الجانب التقني والتشغيلي للقطارات لضمان توافقها مع معايير الأمن والسلامة المعتمدة.
وستسهم هذه القطارات الإضافية في رفع السعة الاستيعابية لنظام المترو، وخاصة أثناء استضافة بطولة كأس العالم FIFA قطر2022، حيث من المتوقع توافد ما يقارب مليون ونصف زائر إلى دولة قطر خلال أيام البطولة، كما ستخدم هذه القطارات امتدادات شبكة المترو المستقبلية التي تعتزم شركة الريل القيام بها.
وبهذا الصدد، قال سعادة المهندس عبدالله عبدالعزيز السبيعي العضو المنتدب والرئيس التنفيذي لشركة الريل “تقدم شبكة مترو الدوحة وسيلة نقل تغطي الوجهات الرئيسية وتصل بين مختلف المناطق وستسهم هذه القطارات الإضافية في رفع القدرة الاستيعابية للشبكة وتقليل المدة الزمنية بين الرحلات لنقدم تجربة نقل متكاملة وسلسلة لمستخدمي الشبكة وخاصة خلال الفعاليات الرئيسية التي تستضيفها دولة قطر مثل بطولة كأس العالم لكرة القدم 2022”.
وأضاف “تعد زيادة القطارات التي تخدم الشبكة خطوة استراتيجية نحو تحقيق أهداف المشروع بعيدة المدى المتمثلة في تمديد الخطوط الحالية لتغطي شبكة المترو مناطق أوسع”.
يجسد تصميم مترو الدوحة إرث وثقافة المجتمع القطري ويجمعه بالتكنولوجيا الحديثة، وهو من تصميم وإنتاج شركة /كينكي شاريو/ المحدودة من خلال مصانعها الموجودة في مدينة أوساكا اليابانية.
ويعد مترو الدوحة أحد أسرع القطارات بدون سائق في العالم وأسرعها في المنطقة، إذ تصل سرعته إلى 100 كم/الساعة.
ويتألف مترو الدوحة من 3 عربات، إحداها للدرجة الذهبية والعائلية وأخريين للدرجة الاقتصادية. وتتكون الدرجة الذهبية من 16 مقعدا والعائلية من 26 مقعدا، في حين تتكون الدرجتان الاقتصاديتان من 88 مقعدا ويتميز القطار بتصميمه العصري وفي الوقت نفسه يعكس الهوية الخاصة للتراث القطري ويبرزها في عناصر التصميم الخارجي والداخلي للقطار.
