Qatar has solidified its place as a leading destination for foreign investments, securing the 9th spot in the latest ‘Best Countries in the World’ rankings by US News & World Report. Additionally, the country climbed to 25th place in the overall ‘Best Country’ ranking, moving up one spot compared to 2023. This achievement highlights Qatar’s growing global appeal, with a notable improvement in the attribute evaluating where people would like to live, moving up four positions year-over-year.
Elliott Davis, Analyst and Reporter at US News & World Report, explained to The Peninsula that Qatar’s strong performance has positively impacted its GDP, pushing it among the world’s top countries. He added, “Qatar showed a solid performance in the 2024 rankings, breaking into the top 25 globally. It ranked in the top 30 in six of the 10 sub-rankings, with an impressive 3rd place in the ‘Movers’ category, which measures a country’s future growth potential.”
However, Qatar still faces challenges in entrepreneurship, ranking 58th for ‘Start a Business’, 23rd for ‘Entrepreneurship’, and 34th for ‘Business Opportunities’. Notably, Qatar saw significant progress in the ‘Open for Business’ category, climbing 37 places—the highest jump in any sub-ranking.
On the cultural front, Qatar ranked 18th in ‘Cultural Influence’, moving up three spots. Despite a dip in the ‘Movers’ sub-ranking, now in 3rd place, Qatar remains in the top tier globally. Additionally, the country ranked 36th in tourism-related attributes.
Davis emphasized the significance of Qatar’s rise in the ‘Open for Business’ and ‘Power’ categories, which reflect how investors and global citizens view Qatar’s economic prospects and growing influence on the world stage.
In the overall ‘Best Countries’ rankings for 2024, Switzerland retained the top spot for the third consecutive year, followed by Japan and the United States.

احتلت قطر المرتبة التاسعة في جذب الاستثمارات الأجنبية والمرتبة 25 عالميًا في تصنيف “أفضل الدول في العالم” الصادر عن “يو إس نيوز آند وورلد ريبورت”، محققة بذلك تقدمًا بمقدار مركز واحد مقارنة بعام 2023. ويعكس هذا الإنجاز الاهتمام المتزايد بقطر، حيث ارتفعت بمقدار 4 مراكز في خاصية تشير إلى تفضيل العيش فيها.
وفي حديثه مع صحيفة “ذا بنينسولا”، قال إليوت ديفيس، المحلل والمراسل في “يو إس نيوز آند وورلد ريبورت”، إن الأداء القوي لقطر ساهم في تعزيز نمو الناتج المحلي الإجمالي، مما أدى إلى تقدمها عالميًا. وأضاف: “قدمت قطر أداءً ممتازًا في تصنيف 2024، حيث دخلت ضمن أفضل 25 دولة عالميًا. واحتلت مكانًا ضمن أفضل 30 دولة في 6 من أصل 10 تصنيفات فرعية، بما في ذلك المرتبة الثالثة في فئة “الدول المتحركة” التي تقيم إمكانات النمو المستقبلية للدول.”
ومع ذلك، لا تزال قطر تواجه بعض التحديات في ريادة الأعمال، حيث احتلت المرتبة 58 في تصنيف “بدء الأعمال”، و23 في “ريادة الأعمال”، و34 في “فرص الأعمال”. ولكن الجدير بالذكر أن قطر شهدت تقدمًا كبيرًا في فئة “الانفتاح على الأعمال”، متقدمة 37 مركزًا.
وعلى الصعيد الثقافي، احتلت قطر المرتبة 18 في فئة “التأثير الثقافي”، متقدمة 3 مراكز. ورغم تراجع قطر في فئة “الدول المتحركة”، حيث تحتل المرتبة الثالثة، فإنها لا تزال ضمن الدول الرائدة عالميًا. كما احتلت المرتبة 36 في تصنيفات السياحة.
وأكد ديفيس على أهمية تقدم قطر في فئات “الانفتاح على الأعمال” و”القوة”، مما يعكس وجهات نظر المستثمرين والمواطنين العالميين حول الاقتصاد القطري وإمكاناته المتنامية.
وفي الترتيب العام لـ”أفضل الدول” لعام 2024، حافظت سويسرا على المركز الأول للعام الثالث على التوالي، تليها اليابان والولايات المتحدة.
