Qatar Ranks 4th Globally in Economic Performance for 2024

Qatar has achieved a significant milestone by securing the 11th position out of 67 countries in the World Competitiveness Yearbook 2024, issued by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland. This is an improvement from the 12th position last year, demonstrating Qatar’s consistent progress in global competitiveness.
In the report, Qatar excelled in four main factors:
- Economic Performance: 4th globally
- Government Efficiency: 7th globally
- Business Efficiency: 11th globally
- Infrastructure: 33rd globally
Key Indicators
The competitiveness assessment was based on comprehensive local data and indicators, combined with an opinion poll of company managers and businessmen regarding the business environment and the competitiveness of the Qatari economy. These were compared with counterparts from other reviewed countries.
Economic Performance
Qatar’s high ranking in economic performance was driven by:
- Unemployment Rate: 1st globally
- Youth Unemployment Rate: 1st globally
- Terms of Trade Index: 1st globally
Government Efficiency
In government efficiency, Qatar ranked first in:
- Consumption Tax Rate
- Personal Income Tax Rate
It also ranked second globally in the Public Finance Index.
Business Efficiency
Under business efficiency, Qatar was notable for:
- Effectiveness of Corporate Boards: 1st globally
- Migrant Stock: 1st globally
- Working Hours Index: 2nd globally
Infrastructure
Qatar’s infrastructure was highlighted by:
- Energy Infrastructure: 1st globally
- Number of Internet Users per 1000 People: 1st globally
Long-term Vision
This year’s report marks the 16th consecutive participation of Qatar in the World Competitiveness Yearbook, a result of ongoing collaboration between the IMD and Qatar’s National Planning Council. Secretary General HE Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa welcomed the results, stating, “These outstanding results reflect the insight and wise vision of Qatar’s leadership. They also confirm that Qatar is on the right track towards achieving the ambitions of the Qatar National Vision 2030 by implementing the contents of the Third National Development Strategy 2024-2030.”

المؤشرات الرئيسية
اعتمد تقييم القدرة التنافسية على بيانات ومؤشرات محلية شاملة، بالإضافة إلى استطلاع رأي لمديري الشركات ورجال الأعمال حول بيئة الأعمال وتنافسية الاقتصاد القطري، وتمت مقارنتها بنظيراتها من الدول الأخرى.
الأداء الاقتصادي
حقق الأداء الاقتصادي لقطر ترتيبات متميزة في:
- معدل البطالة: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
- معدل البطالة بين الشباب: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
- شروط التبادل التجاري: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
الكفاءة الحكومية
فيما يخص الكفاءة الحكومية، احتلت قطر المرتبة الأولى في:
- معدل الضريبة على الاستهلاك
- معدل ضريبة الدخل على الأفراد
كما صنفت في المرتبة الثانية عالمياً في مؤشر المالية العامة.
كفاءة قطاع الأعمال
تميزت قطر في كفاءة قطاع الأعمال بـ:
- فعالية مجالس إدارة الشركات: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
- المخزون البشري من العمالة الوافدة: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
- مؤشر ساعات العمل: المرتبة 2 عالمياً
البنية التحتية
تميزت البنية التحتية لقطر بـ:
- بنية تحتية لقطاع الطاقة: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
- عدد مستخدمي الإنترنت لكل ألف من السكان: المرتبة 1 عالمياً
الرؤية طويلة الأجل
يعتبر تقرير هذا العام التقرير السادس عشر الذي تشارك فيه قطر على التوالي، وهو نتيجة للتعاون المستمر بين المعهد الدولي للتنمية الإدارية والمجلس الوطني للتخطيط. وقد رحب سعادة السيد عبدالعزيز بن ناصر بن مبارك آل خليفة الأمين العام للمجلس الوطني للتخطيط بالنتائج، قائلاً: “تعكس هذه النتائج المتميزة الرؤية الثاقبة والحكيمة التي تتمتع بها قيادة دولة قطر، وتؤكد على أن الدولة تسير في الاتجاه الصحيح نحو تحقيق طموحات رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 من خلال تنفيذ ما تضمنته استراتيجية التنمية الوطنية الثالثة 2024 – 2030.”
