Google Launches Satellite SOS in Pixel Phones Soon

Washington: Google announced its readiness to launch the Satellite SOS for Pixel phones soon.

According to the company, it will provide the Satellite SOS in the Safety & Emergency settings section.

Google Pixel phones will allow users to send messages to emergency services and share their geographical location when users are unable to connect to mobile networks or Wi-Fi. Users will share their locations via Google Maps when traditional signals are unavailable. The company may also provide the ability to provide additional details about the emergency.

Google said that for this service to work, users will have to enter some personal data, such as the name and phone number from their Google account, in addition to up to three emergency contacts and cases of emergency and loss of connection to traditional networks, it will transmit some data such as the user’s location, device details, and details related to the emergency with emergency agencies and satellite service providers.

Google has not yet revealed the final launch date for the Satellite SOS or the countries where it will be available, but it has stated that it will begin the launch process soon.

Apple was the first company to offer the Emergency SOS via satellite with the iPhone 14 and iPhone 15, noting that it is only available in a limited number of countries.

وقالت الشركة: “لكي تعمل تلك الخدمة سيتعين على المستخدمين إدخال بعض البيانات الشخصية مثل الاسم ورقم الهاتف من حساب جوجل الخاص، بالإضافة إلى ما يصل إلى ثلاث جهات اتصال للطوارئ، وفي حالات الطوارئ وانقطاع الاتصال بالشبكات التقليدية، سترسل بعض البيانات مثل موقع المستخدم وتفاصيل الجهاز والتفاصيل المتعلقة بحالة الطوارئ مع جهات الطوارئ ومقدمي خدمات الأقمار الصناعية”.

هذا ولم تكشف /جوجل/ حتى الآن عن موعد الإطلاق النهائي لميزة الاتصال عبر الأقمار الصناعية أو الدول التي ستتوفر فيها، لكن صرحت أنها ستبدأ عملية الإطلاق خلال وقت قريب.

يشار إلى أن /آبل/ كانت أول شركة تقدم ميزة الاتصال عبر الأقمار الصناعية في حالات الطوارئ مع هواتف آيفون 14 وآيفون 15، علما بأنها متاحة فقط في عدد محدود من الدول.
