Google to Shut Down Google Pay App in US

Washington: Google has announced its intention to shut down the Google Pay app in the United States in June, replacing the standalone app with Google Wallet.

According to the company, the move aims to streamline payment apps, stating that users will no longer be able to send, request, or receive money through the US version of the Google Pay app after June 4. If the users still have money in their account after that date, they can transfer it to their linked bank account via the Google Pay website, it added.

The company clarified that the standalone app will remain available only in Singapore and India after its shutdown in the United States due to unique needs in those countries.

It added that users who used the Google Pay app to find offers and deals can still do so using the new Deals tab via Google Search.

Google noted that the Google Wallet app is used five times more than the Google Pay app in the US.

وأوضحت الشركة أن التطبيق المستقل يظل متاحا في سنغافورة والهند فقط بعد إيقاف تشغيله في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بسبب الاحتياجات الفريدة في تلك البلدان.

وأضافت:”إن المستخدمين الذين استخدموا تطبيق Google Pay للعثور على العروض والصفقات لا يزال بإمكانهم ذلك باستخدام وجهة الصفقات الجديدة عبر Google Search”.

وأشارت جوجل إلى أن تطبيق /Google Wallet/ يستخدم بمقدار خمس مرات أكثر من تطبيق /Google Pay/ في الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية.

ويعد /Google Wallet/ المكان الأساسي للشركة للدفع عبر الهاتف المحمول في الولايات المتحدة المريكية ، ومن المرجح أن يظل كذلك.
