Qatar Central Bank Foreign Reserves Surge by 5.26 Percent in January 2024

Doha: International reserves and foreign currency liquidity of Qatar Central Bank (QCB) jumped last January by 5.26 percent to QR 246.047 billion as compared to QR 233.752 billion in January 2023.
The figures released Wednesday by QCB showed an increase in its official reserves at the end of January 2024 as compared to what it was at the end of the same month last year by about QR 11.371 billion to reach QR 187.155 billion despite the decline in the QCB’s balances of bonds and foreign treasury bills by QR 2.253 billion to the level of QR 136.414 billion in January 2024.
The official reserves consist of major components, which are foreign bonds and bills, cash balances with foreign banks, gold holdings, special drawing rights deposits, and Qatar’s share in the International Monetary Fund.
In addition to the official reserves, there are other liquid assets (Foreign Currency Deposits), so the two together constitute what is known as the total foreign reserves.
Gold reserves increased, as of the end of January 2024, by about QR 3.413 billion as compared to January 2023 to reach QR 24.069 billion.
Meanwhile, the State of Qatar’s shares of SDR deposits at the IMF decreased as of the end of last January by QR 113 million as compared to January 2023, reaching QR 5.204 billion.
Balances in foreign banks increased by about QR 10.325 billion to reach QR 21.467 billion at the end of January 2024 as compared to January 2023.

الدوحة: زادت الاحتياطيات الدولية والسيولة بالعملة الأجنبية لمصرف قطر المركزي في شهر يناير الماضي، بنسبة 5.26 في المئة، لتبلغ 246.047 مليار ريال، مقارنة بـ 233.752 مليار ريال في الشهر نفسه من العام 2023.
وأظهرت البيانات الصادرة عن مصرف قطر المركزي، اليوم، ارتفاع احتياطاته الرسمية مع نهاية يناير الماضي، مقارنة بما كانت عليه مع نهاية الشهر ذاته من العام 2023، بنحو 11.371 مليار ريال، لتبلغ 187.155 مليار ريال، بالرغم من تراجع أرصدة المصرف المركزي من السندات وأذونات الخزينة الأجنبية بنحو 2.253 مليار ريال، إلى مستوى 136.414 مليار ريال في يناير 2024.
وتتكون الاحتياطيات الرسمية من مكونات رئيسية، هي: السندات وأذونات الخزينة الأجنبية، والأرصدة النقدية لدى البنوك الأجنبية، ومقتنيات الذهب، وودائع حقوق السحب الخاصة، وحصة دولة قطر لدى صندوق النقد الدولي.
ويضاف إلى الاحتياطيات الرسمية موجودات سائلة أخرى (عبارة عن ودائع بالعملة الأجنبية)، بحيث تشكل الاثنتان معا ما يعرف بالاحتياطيات الدولية الكلية.
وارتفع مخزون الذهب مع نهاية يناير الماضي بنحو 3.413 مليار ريال، مقارنة بشهر يناير 2023 إلى 24.069 مليار ريال.
كما تراجع رصيد ودائع حقوق السحب الخاصة من حصة دولة قطر لدى صندوق النقد الدولي مع نهاية شهر يناير الماضي بقيمة 113 مليون ريال، مقارنة مع يناير 2023، ليبلغ مستوى 5.204 مليار ريال.
كما ارتفعت الأرصدة لدى البنوك الأجنبية بنحو 10.325 مليار ريال، إلى مستوى 21.467 مليار ريال بنهاية يناير هذا العام، مقارنة مع يناير من العام 2023.
