QMMF Continues Preparations for 1812 km Qatar Race

Doha: Qatar Motor and Motorcycle Federation (QMMF) intensified preparations to host the Qatar 1812 km race, as part of FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the first time, during the period from Feb. 29 to Mar. 2.

The QMMF revealed, in a statement on Wednesday, that during this race it will provide the opportunity for motor racing fans to be part of the event, by playing the roles of marshal during the event, pointing out that playing the role of marshal will provide the opportunity for motor racing fans to follow closely the most exciting motor sports races in the world, as well as joining a close-knit group that loves motor sports, in addition to training and development and gaining practical experience and technical knowledge.

QMMF explained that the minimum age to apply to work as a marshal is 18 years, as applicants must have a valid Qatar ID card, in addition to a valid bank account, indicating that the federation is looking for individuals who have a spirit of teamwork and initiative and are able to work long hours.

This year, Lusail International Circuit will host the opening race of the 2024 WEC season by hosting the Qatar 1812 km race, which is held within the framework of the activities of the Lusail Speed Fest, which is organized for the first time and lasts for less than 10 hours. The title of the race celebrates the National Day of the State of Qatar.

The race starts with a free practice on Feb. 29, followed by qualifying rounds and the Lusail Classic race on 1 March. It concludes with the exciting final race on 2 March. The FIA WEC, entering its twelfth season this year, is the world’s premier international sports car championship, with multiple cars racing simultaneously in two classes: the hypercar and LMGT3 categories.

الدوحة: يواصل الاتحاد القطري للسيارات والدراجات النارية استعداداته المكثفة لاستضافة سباق قطر 1812 كم، ضمن منافسات بطولة العالم لسباقات التحمل، للمرة الأولى، خلال الفترة من 29 فبراير إلى 2 مارس المقبلين.

وقال الاتحاد، في بيان اليوم، إنه خلال هذا السباق سيوفر الفرصة لعشاق سباقات المحركات حتى يكونوا جزءا من الحدث، وذلك عبر القيام بأدوار المارشال خلال الحدث، لافتا إلى أن القيام بدور “المارشال” سيوفر الفرصة لعشاق سباقات المحركات في متابعة سباقات رياضات المحركات الأكثر إثارة في العالم عن قرب، فضلا عن الانضمام إلى مجموعة مترابطة عاشقة لرياضات المحركات، بالإضافة إلى التدريب والتطوير واكتساب الخبرة العملية والمعرفة التقنية.

وأوضح أن الحد الأدنى لسن التقديم للعمل كمارشال هو 18 عاما، حيث يجب على المتقدمين أن تكون لديهم بطاقة شخصية قطرية سارية، بالإضافة إلى حساب مصرفي سار، مشيرا إلى أن الاتحاد يبحث عن أفراد لديهم روح العمل الجماعي والمبادرة وقادرون على العمل لساعات طويلة.

وفي هذا العام، تستضيف حلبة لوسيل الدولية السباق الافتتاحي لموسم بطولة العالم لسباقات التحمل 2024 عبر احتضانها لسباق “قطر 1812 كم” الذي يقام ضمن المنافسات في إطار فعاليات مهرجان لوسيل للسرعة الذي ينظم للمرة الأولى، حيث يحتفي عنوان السباق، الذي يستمر لأقل من 10 ساعات، في عنوانه باليوم الوطني لدولة قطر.

وتبدأ منافسات السباق بجولة التجارب الحرة التي تنطلق بتاريخ 29 فبراير، ثم تقام الحصص التأهيلية بالإضافة إلى سباق لوسيل كلاسيك في 1 مارس، ويليها السباق الختامي المثير الذي ينطلق بتاريخ 2 مارس.

وتعد بطولة العالم لسباقات التحمل، التي تنظم تحت مظلة الاتحاد الدولي للسيارات وتدخل موسمها الثاني عشر هذا العام، البطولة الدولية الرائدة للسيارات الرياضية في العالم حيث تتسابق سيارات متعددة في نفس الوقت ضمن فئتين هما فئة الهايبر كار وفئة LMGT3.
