QF Marks International Day of Education with Various Events for Students, Families

Doha: Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF) is organizing a series of events to mark the International Day of Education, with the activities including discussion sessions, workshops and events for families, students and all members of society. Pre-university schools at QF and 19 schools affiliated with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education as well as international and private schools and partner universities are taking part.

At a press conference, Director of Partnerships within the Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships department of QF’s Pre-University Education Maryam Al Hajri said that the events will be held at the Ceremonial Court in Education City and attendance will be open to all from 9am to 6pm, adding that an interactive exhibition featuring distinguished educational programs for visitors including parents, students or community members will be organized.

She pointed out that workshops and interactive discussion sessions will be organized to present many important topics and ideas, with secondary school students visiting partner universities at QF to learn about the programs offered at these universities.

She added that the day will begin with an Arabic session titled Language and Identity – Strategies for Preservation’, followed by a session by Education Above All Foundation on the topic of Building Resilient Futures: The Transformative Power of Education in Conflict Zones’. A panel discussion later in the day by QF’s Doha International Family Institute (DIFI) will highlight the importance of building a supportive environment that enhances trust and communication with children and youth, she said.

Senior specialist at the QF media office Alya Al Suwaidi said that the QF would host multiple activities in commemoration of International Day of Education, which is celebrated each year on 24 January by the United Nations creating the opportunity for schools and families to come together with the aim of improving the quality of education, and students’ performance.

In partnership with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the QF’s celebration of the day will take place under the theme Education is Everyone’s Responsibility’, which aims to inspire public and private entities, as well as individuals across society, to actively champion and elevate the standard of education throughout Qatar, she said.

For her part, Executive Director of the DIFI Dr. Sharifa Al Emadi stressed that the family aspect is very important for education and that the family has a major role in many aspects of education, adding that the event would focus on the importance of the presence of the family in the student’s life and the necessity of involving it in all aspects related to the student.

Dr. Sharifa Al Emadi praised the announcement of the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau regarding reducing working hours for parents working in government agencies or their representatives to allow them attend the celebration of International Day of Education which will be held in schools between January 21 and 25.

She noted that the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, in cooperation with the QF, launched the “Tanshia” Program, a national program that offers free workshops to parents and covers many aspects such as emotional support, parental monitoring, and others.

وقالت السيدة مريم الهاجري مدير الشراكات بإدارة المبادرات الاستراتيجية بالتعليم ما قبل الجامعي بمؤسسة قطر ،خلال مؤتمر صحفي، إن الفعاليات سوف تكون بساحة الاحتفالات بالمدينة التعليمية والحضور متاح للجميع من التاسعة صباحا إلى السادسة مساء، حيث تتضمن إقامة معرض تفاعلي يشمل برامج تعليمية متميزة للزوار سواء من أولياء الأمور أو الطلاب أو أفراد المجتمع.

وأشارت إلى أنه سيتم تنظيم ورش عمل، وجلسات نقاشية تفاعلية، تطرح العديد من الموضوعات والأفكار المهمة، إلى جانب قيام طلاب المرحلة الثانوية بزيارة للجامعات الشريكة في مؤسسة قطر لتعريفهم على البرامج المقدمة في هذه الجامعات، كما سيكون الجمهور على موعد مع يوم كامل في رحاب المعرفة، وحب الاستطلاع بالمدينة التعليمية.

ولفتت إلى أن الاحتفال سوف ينطلق بتنظيم جلسة افتتاحية، بعنوان: “اللغة والهوية مسؤولية الجميع”، ستعقبها جلسة أخرى تنظمها مؤسسة التعليم فوق الجميع، تتناول أهمية التعليم في بناء مستقبل قوي، لاسيما في المناطق المتأثرة بالنزاعات، كما سيقام حوار تفاعلي من قبل معهد الدوحة الدولي للأسرة يتركز حول أهمية بناء بيئة داعمة، تعزز الثقة والتواصل مع الأطفال والشباب.

من جهتها ، أكدت السيدة علياء السويدي أخصائي أول بالمكتب الإعلامي لمؤسسة قطر أن المؤسسة سوف تستضيف أنشطة متعددة تخليدا لليوم الدولي للتعليم، الذي أقرت الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة الاحتفال به في 24 يناير من كل عام، موضحة أن هذا اليوم سيوفر فرصة للمدارس والأسر لتلتقي معا؛ بهدف تعزيز أداء الطلاب، وتحسين جودة التعليم في البلاد.

وأضافت أن المؤسسة سوف تحتفل بهذا اليوم بالشراكة مع وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي، تحت شعار “التعليم مسؤولية الجميع”، وذلك بهدف إلهام الجهات العامة والخاصة وأفراد المجتمع؛ للانخراط في أدوار نشطة ومتنوعة بهدف دعم مستوى التعليم ورفعه في أنحاء قطر.

من جانبها أكدت الدكتورة شريفة العمادي المدير التنفيذي لمعهد الدوحة الدولي للأسرة أن الجانب الأسري هام جدا للتعليم، وأن الأسرة لها دور كبير في الكثير من جوانب التعليم، مضيفة “الطفل في الفترة الأولى يمكن أن يكتسب ويتعلم المهارات المختلفة من الأسرة، خاصة الأمور التي تتعلق بالهوية والثقافة، سواء كان الجانب الديني أو الجانب الاجتماعي أو العادات والتقاليد، إضافة إلى جانب مهم جدا وهو دور الأسرة بجانب المدرسة”.

وأضافت: نركز في هذه الفعالية على أهمية تواجد الأسرة في حياة الطالب، وضرورة إشراكها في كل الجوانب التي تتعلق بالطالب، لأن وجود الأبوين حول الطالب يزيد من ثقته بنفسه، ما يشجعه على اكتساب المهارات المختلفة والتعلم واكتساب المعلومات من المدرسة، بما يترتب عليه تنشئة أطفال ناجحين واثقين من أنفسهم، وقادرين على الانخراط في الحياة العملية.

وأشادت الدكتورة شريفة العمادي بما أعلنه ديوان الخدمة المدنية والتطوير الحكومي، بتخفيف ساعات العمل لأولياء الأمور العاملين في الجهات الحكومية، أو من يفوضونهم، لحضور احتفالية اليوم الدولي للتعليم، التي ستقام بالمدارس في الفترة بين 21 و25 يناير الجاري دعما للدور الأسري لأولياء الأمور، وزيادة الربط بين دور الأسرة والمدرسة.

ونوهت بأن وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي بالتعاون مع مؤسسة قطر للتربية والعلوم وتنمية المجتمع أطلقت برنامج “تنشئة”، وهو برنامج وطني يقدم ورشا مجانية لأولياء الأمور، تتطرق للكثير من الجوانب، كالدعم العاطفي والمراقبة الوالدية وغيرهما.
