QIIB Issued $500 Million “Oryx” Sustainable Sukuk

Doha: Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) announced the successful issuance of its $500 million sustainable “Oryx”sukuk for a period of five years, as part of the bank’s sukuk program with a total value of $2 billion.

QIIB’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Abdulbasit Ahmed Al Shaibei stated that the sustainable Sukuk they have issued is part of their active engagement in aligning with the Third Financial Sector Strategy launched by HE Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani and recently approved by the Qatar Central Bank. During the launch ceremony, HE Governor of the Qatar Central Bank Sheikh Bandar bin Mohammed bin Saoud Al-Thani stressed that they constitute another chapter of excellence and success and the spirit of innovation and innovation.

The sustainability sukuk from QIIB witnessed significant interest and overwhelming response from investors worldwide as more than 120 investors from over 19 countries participated in the issuance, with subscription requests reaching over 4.0 billion US dollars.

“QIIB has a rich experience in sukuk issuance, successfully issuing $700 million sukuk in 2012 and two issuances in 2019 of $300 million and $500 million respectively, both listed on the London Stock Exchange,” the CEO noted Dr Al Shaibei said, “The significant success of the sukuk issuance and its favorable pricing clearly indicates the great confidence that QIIB enjoys internationally, based on strong credit ratings and the strength of the Qatari economy, which provides support to various economic sectors in the country, especially banking.” “We have observed exceptional interest in QIIB’s sukuk, giving us more confidence to build partnerships regionally and internationally related to sustainability, focusing on programs, serving the community and financing projects that provides to basic services and infrastructure at reasonable rates.” Dr. Al Shaibei explained, “Our new sukuk issuance under the approved $2 billion program, at its various stages, achieves several objectives, including enhancing sustainability-linked financing, solidifying our presence in global financial markets, and providing us with the opportunity to form new partnerships with investors from around the world.” Dr Al Shaibei expressed gratitude to the banks that arranged the successful issuance at various stages until it culminated in its significant success.

وقال الدكتور عبدالباسط أحمد الشيبي الرئيس التنفيذي لبنك قطر الدولي الإسلامي، في تصريح له، “إن الصكوك المستدامة التي قام البنك بإصدارها هي جزء من انخراطه النشط والفعال في مواكبة الاستراتيجية الثالثة للقطاع المالي التي أطلقها معالي الشيخ محمد بن عبدالرحمن بن جاسم آل ثاني، رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية، حيث شدد سعادة الشيخ بندر بن محمد بن سعود آل ثاني محافظ مصرف قطر المركزي خلال حفل إطلاقها على أنها تشكل فصلا آخر من التميز والنجاح، وروح الابتكار والتجديد”.

وتابع:” لقد شهدت الصكوك المستدامة لـ(الدولي الإسلامي) إقبالا كبيرا من المستثمرين من مختلف دول العالم شملت أكثر من 120 مستثمرا من الخليج والشرق الأوسط وأوروبا وآسيا وأمريكا، أكثر من 55 بالمئة منهم من خارج منطقة الخليج والشرق الأوسط، وبلغ حجم طلبات الاكتتاب أكثر من 4 مليارات دولار ما يعني أكثر من ثمانية أضعاف حجم الإصدار، وتم تسعير الإصدار عند معدل ربح سنوي 5.247 بالمئة”.

وأكد الرئيس التنفيذي للدولي الإسلامي أن هذا النجاح الاستثنائي للإصدار يعود أولا لقوة الاقتصاد القطري، الذي يوفر مظلة دعم لمختلف القطاعات الاقتصادية في الدولة، وفي مقدمتها القطاع المصرفي، حيث يعكس الإقبال على صكوك الدولي الإسلامي ثقة كبيرة على المستوى الدولي بالاقتصاد القطري.

وأضاف أن الإقبال على إصدار الصكوك المستدامة من الدولي الإسلامي والتسعير الجيد لها يشير بجلاء إلى المركز الراسخ الذي يتمتع به البنك، مستندا إلى تصنيفات ائتمانية مرموقة وإلى الاقتصاد القطري القوي، كما يشير إلى الثقة الكبيرة بصكوك “الدولي الإسلامي”، حيث إنها المرة الرابعة التي نصدر فيها صكوكا وفي كل مرة نحقق نجاحا استثنائيا.

وقال الشيبي إن الصكوك المستدامة التي نجحنا في إصدارها سبقها خطوات تأسيسية قمنا بها تمثلت بإنشاء إطار خاص بالتمويل المستدام في البنك، وهذا ما يزيد من تنوع محفظة البنك من خلال استقطاب مستثمرين مهتمين بالاستدامة مع كل ما تنطوي عليه الاستدامة من مشاريع متعلقة بالطاقة المتجددة، والنقل النظيف، وكفاءة الطاقة، والمباني الخضراء، ومكافحة التلوث وغيرها من قضايا.
