QNL Announces Completion of Data Transfer Project in Partnership with Microsoft

Doha: Qatar National Library (QNL) announced Tuesday the successful completion of the library’s repatriation of Azure services to the Microsoft Cloud Data Center Region in Qatar from Microsoft’s West Europe Region, in a step aimed at strengthening the library’s technological capabilities, improving the efficiency of providing its digital services, and enhancing the user experience for its patrons on the website, the library’s electronic resources, the Qatar Digital Library, and the librarys application for smart devices.

According to QNL, one of the most significant outcomes of repatriation to the Microsoft Cloud Data Center, the first in the country, is a remarkable reduction in latency, down from 120 milliseconds to an impressive five milliseconds. This dramatic decrease significantly enhances the responsiveness and performance of the Library’ website and core business applications, providing users with a seamless and faster digital experience.

The new setup further solidifies the Librarys commitment to ensuring the robustness and continuity of services. Azure implementation across three availability zones or isolated data centers – in Qatar offers unparalleled redundancy and high-availability for critical applications and workloads. This ensures the Library’s services are resilient and uninterrupted during unforeseen challenges or local disruptions.

Marking the occasion, Director of IT Operations and Infrastructure at QNL Nasser Al Ansari said: “This milestone achievement is a testament to the Librarys commitment to providing cutting-edge services to our community. The reduction in latency and improved availability not only enhance our core operations but also reaffirm our position as a modern library that embraces digital advancements.” Commenting on the announcement, Customer Success Unit Lead for Qatar, Microsoft, Waqar Aziz said: “Qatar National Library pioneered the adoption of Microsoft Azure Cloud in Qatar for digital transformation and innovation. الدوحة: أعلنت مكتبة قطر الوطنية، الانتهاء بنجاح من مشروع نقل بيانات المكتبة إلى مركز /مايكروسوفت للبيانات السحابية/ داخل قطر من مركز مايكروسوفت في غرب أوروبا، وذلك في خطوة تستهدف تعزيز القدرات التكنولوجية للمكتبة، وتحسين كفاءة تقديم خدماتها الرقمية، وتعزيز تجربة المستخدم لدى روادها على الموقع الإلكتروني، ومصادر المكتبة الإلكترونية، ومكتبة قطر الرقمية، وتطبيق المكتبة للأجهزة الذكية.

ووفقا للمكتبة، فإن من أبرز نتائج نقل البيانات إلى مركز /مايكروسوفت للبيانات السحابية/ داخل قطر، الانخفاض الملحوظ في مدة استدعاء البيانات، وتقليل وقت الوصول إليها من 120 ملي ثانية إلى فترة قصيرة للغاية لا تتجاوز خمسة ملي ثانية، وهذه السرعة الهائلة في الوصول للمعلومات تسفر عن طفرة كبيرة في معدلات الاستجابة، وتحسين جوهري في كفاءة الموقع الإلكتروني للمكتبة، وأداء نظم المعلومات المشغلة للوظائف الأساسية للمكتبة، الأمر الذي يقدم للمستخدمين تجربة رقمية تجمع بين السرعة والسلاسة.

كما يعزز نقل البيانات إلى مركز بيانات مايكروسوفت السحابية في قطر التزام المكتبة بتقديم خدمات بأعلى مستوى من الكفاءة والجاهزية، فإتاحة منصة /أزور/ عبر ثلاثة مراكز بيانات منفصلة في قطر يوفر نسخا احتياطية لا مثيل لها، لضمان إتاحة البيانات وتلبيتها لمتطلبات التطبيقات والمهام والوظائف الحيوية للمكتبة، كما يضمن الجاهزية الدائمة لخدمات المكتبة وعدم انقطاعها في حالة حدوث أي طوارئ أو تحديات غير متوقعة.

وبهذه المناسبة، قال ناصر الأنصاري مدير شؤون العمليات والبنية التحتية لتكنولوجيا المعلومات في مكتبة قطر الوطنية: “هذا الإنجاز المهم يؤكد على التزام المكتبة بتقديم خدمات متطورة لمجتمعنا، وذلك من خلال تحسين سرعة الوصول للبيانات وإتاحتها، وهو أمر لا ينعكس إيجابا على كفاءة عملياتنا الأساسية فحسب، بل يؤكد أيضا مكانتنا كمكتبة حديثة تواكب التطورات الرقمية”.
