Washington: Facebook has announced the discontinuation of its encrypted emails feature due to low usage.
Introduced in 2015, the feature allowed users to receive encrypted emails from the company using the decades-old technology called Pretty Good Privacy (PGP).
However, it seems that very few users actually made use of this feature.
While Facebook has not disclosed the exact number of users who were still using the encrypted email feature, it is safe to say that the numbers were extremely low.
This is not surprising considering that most Facebook notifications, such as likes and private messages, can already be accessed within the Facebook app or through web browsers.
