At the Library, the Electronic Resources Management (ERM) team collaborates with various departments to ensure that each database or e-resource aligns with patrons’ evolving needs and the Librarys research and learning priorities. They do this by continuously monitoring data usage, ensuring that resources are utilized to their full potential. The teams goal is to offer a spectrum of digital content that is both enriching and accessible.

A case in point is the Library’s recent introduction of the GlobalData database, providing profound market insights. Through four intelligence centers within the database, QNL facilitates knowledge access in sectors such as construction, oil & gas, power, and mining. Access to such resources isnt a luxury but a necessity, a fact that underscores Qatars broader vision of becoming a hub for information exchange in the Middle East.

Mohammed S. Showkath, Information Services Librarian at QNL said: “Information about Gulf countries is often scarce, leaving a gap in comprehensive regional data. By incorporating GlobalData into our resources, we aim to meet the diverse needs of various audience groups. Economic analysts, academics, and entrepreneurs, among others in Qatar’s public and private sectors, will gain access to valuable information. This wealth of data is pivotal, empowering them to make well-informed decisions.” The true impact of QNL, however, resonates in the stories of Dr. Mohammed Al-Breiki, Acting Head of Industrial Studies and Policies Department, Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting: “As a researcher who is always looking to deepen his academic knowledge, I found myself passionately immersed in the depths of journals rich with a wide selection of research and academic studies, which the Library makes available through platforms like ScienceDirect, Taylor & Francis Online, Web of Science, SAGE Journals, and others that provide invaluable aid in my scientific endeavors.” He added: “One of the most impactful resources on my research, provided by Qatar National Library, is access to the GlobalData platform. I found in the GlobalData platform a rich source of reliable information and deep analysis about the most important industries in this field. This platform provides me with comprehensive reports that offer a broad overview of the global landscape in oil and gas and renewable energy sectors, in addition to detailed analyses of major deal trends and movements of key companies in these sectors.” QNL’s digital resources are diverse. يتعاون فريق إدارة المصادر الإلكترونية بالمكتبة مع الأقسام والإدارات الأخرى؛ للتأكد من أن كل مصدر إلكتروني متاح عبر منصات المكتبة يواكب الاحتياجات المتغيرة والمتنامية للمستفيدين وأولويات البحث والتعلم في المكتبة.

ويراقب الفريق المتخصص في المكتبة بيانات الاستخدام بما يضمن الاستخدام الأمثل للمصادر الإلكترونية، ويهدف الفريق إلى تقديم باقة متنوعة من المحتوى، تجمع بين الثراء وسهولة الاستخدام.

ومن أفضل الأمثلة على ذلك إتاحة المكتبة مؤخرا المصدر الإلكتروني غلوبال داتا (GlobalData) الذي يزخر بالإحصائيات والتحليلات العميقة للأسواق التي تقدمها 4 مراكز بحثية وإحصائية عالمية.

وحول هذا الموضوع، قال محمد شوكت، أخصائي خدمات المعلومات في مكتبة قطر الوطنية، في تصريح له: إن المعلومات حول دول الخليج غالبا ما تكون شحيحة صانعة فجوة في البيانات الشاملة حول المنطقة. وأضاف: “نحن بإتاحة المصدر الإلكتروني غلوبال داتا عبر قواعد البيانات ومصادرنا الإلكترونية نهدف إلى تلبية الاحتياجات المتنوعة لمختلف فئات جمهور المكتبة؛ إذ سيتمكن المحللون الاقتصاديون والأكاديميون ورجال الأعمال وآخرون في كل من القطاعين العام والخاص في قطر من الوصول إلى كنوز من المعلومات والبيانات والإحصائيات المهمة، بما يساعدهم في اتخاذ قرارات صائبة ومدروسة”.
