QU’s Islamic Studies Journal Ranks Second In 2023 By ARCIF in the Arab World

Doha: The Journal of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies (JCSIS) at Qatar University (QU), a scholarly publication released by QUs College of Sharia and Islamic Studies in collaboration with QU Press, has achieved a prestigious second-place ranking regionally in the Islamic Studies field for the year 2023. This achievement, certified by the Arab Citation and Impact Factor (ARCIF), reflects the journal’s remarkable influence and scholarly impact.

This achievement marks a significant milestone as the journal achieved the second position among 91 journals in the field of Islamic Studies, meeting the competitive criteria in the Impact Factor out of 1155 scientific Arabic journals considered for the 2023 report by ARCIF. It is noteworthy that the journal is categorized within the first category (Q1), the highest category, in the specialization of Islamic Studies.

Since its inception in 1980, the Journal of Sharia and Islamic Studies has consistently published two volumes annually, totaling 41 volumes to date. It serves as a rigorously peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to publishing research within the field of Islamic Studies in both Arabic and English languages, available in both print and electronic formats through QU Press since 2018.

The journal’s focus lies on publishing scholarly research addressing contemporary and emerging Islamic issues, advancing scientific research, and methodologies within the Islamic Studies field. Dr. Ibrahim Al-Ansari, Dean of the College of Sharia and Islamic Studies at QU, oversees the journal. Comprising a distinguished editorial board of academic scholars from Qatar and beyond, the journals editorial team covers diverse domains within Islamic studies. Furthermore, it boasts an international advisory board consisting of renowned academics and experts from various prestigious academic institutions worldwide.

The Journal of Sharia and Islamic Studies strictly adheres to stringent criteria for evaluating and adjudicating research, emphasizing authors’ adherence to ethical research and publication practices. The Journal has consistently met the highest internationally recognized publishing standards for two years, becoming the first Arabic journal in Islamic Studies to be indexed in the Web of Science Emerging Journals category.

This esteemed journal adheres to 32 key criteria established by Web of Science, including transparent publication policies, a competent editorial and advisory board, rigorous and unbiased editorial and review procedures, the selection of robust research, punctuality in publication schedules, and professional electronic publication ensuring descriptive and bibliometric data registration in international digital repositories.

A council comprising representatives from various non-profit Arab and international entities oversees ARCIF as the sole international Arabic institution for scientific journal classification. This includes UNESCO’s regional office in Beirut, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the Library of Alexandria, and the E-Marefa Database, alongside an independent committee of reputable experts and academics from several Arab countries and Britain. ARCIF, after evaluating close to 5000 scientific Arabic journals from over 1400 scientific or research entities in the Arab world, sanctioned the inclusion of 1155 Arabic scientific journals in its 2023 report.

The Journal of Sharia and Islamic Studies can be accessed via its online platform and is available in databases like “Al-Mandumah” and “E-Marefa,” facilitating research access and citation adherence through various documentation styles provided by database platforms and the initial page of each research article.

Continuing its commitment to enhancing scholarly research within its field, the journal regularly organizes open training seminars either within the university or in collaboration with external entities, aiming to fortify the skills of postgraduate students and researchers. الدوحة: صنفت مجلة كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية، التي تصدر عن كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية ودار نشر جامعة قطر، كثاني أهم مجلة عربية في هذا المجال، وفق معامل التأثير والاستشهادات المرجعية للمجلات العلمية العربية (أرسيف ARCIF).

وحققت المجلة المرتبة الثانية من إجمالي عدد المجلات التي انطبق عليها شروط التنافس في معامل التأثير، والبالغ عددها 91 مجلة في مجال الدراسات الإسلامية من بين ألف و155 مجلة علمية عربية اعتمدت في تقريرها لعام 2023، إضافة إلى أن مجلة كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية صنفت ضمن الفئة الأولى (Q1) وهي الفئة الأعلى في مجال الدراسات الإسلامية.

وتصدر مجلة كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية بانتظام بمعدل عددين سنويا منذ عام 1980، ليصل العدد الإجمالي إلى 41 مجلدا وهي بمثابة مجلة علمية محكمة، مخصصة لنشر الأبحاث في مجال الدراسات الإسلامية، يتم إصدارها باللغتين العربية والإنجليزية، وتنشر ورقيا وإلكترونيا (مجانا) من خلال دار نشر جامعة قطر منذ سنة 2018.

وتهتم المجلة بنشر البحوث العلمية المحكمة ذات الاهتمام بالقضايا الإسلامية المعاصرة والمستجدة، فيما تعنى بتطوير البحث العلمي ومنهجياته في مجال الدراسات الإسلامية.

ويشرف على المجلة عميد كلية الشريعة والدراسات الإسلامية في جامعة قطر الدكتور إبراهيم الأنصاري، وتضم هيئة تحريرها نخبة من الأساتذة الجامعيين من قطر وخارجها، وتشمل اختصاصاتهم جميع مجالات الدراسات الإسلامية، فضلا عن وجود هيئة استشارية دولية للمجلة متنوعة من منتسبي الجامعات العريقة والهيئات الأكاديمية من مختلف أنحاء العالم.

وتلتزم المجلة بمعايير صارمة في تقييم وتحكيم البحوث مع التركيز على التزام المؤلفين بأخلاقيات البحث العلمي والنشر، إذ حققت أعلى معايير النشر الدولي المعتمدة عالميا، مما خولها منذ عامين أن تكون أول مجلة عربية في الدراسات الإسلامية تدرج ضمن المنصة الدولية Web of Science في فئة المجلات الناشئة.

والتزمت المجلة بأهم معايير النشر الدولي البالغ عددها 32 بندا حسب معايير Web of Science والتي تتمثل بتوضيح سياسة وإجراءات النشر على موقع المجلة، وتكوين هيئة التحرير والهيئة الاستشارية الدولية من خبراء لامعين في المجال، وتخصص المجلة في مجال محدد وواضح، وتطبيق إجراءات تحرير وتحكيم صارمة وغير متحيزة، واختيار الأبحاث الرصينة، وجودة النشر، والالتزام بمواعيد النشر، والنشر الإلكتروني المحترف من حيث تسجيل البيانات الوصفية والبيبليومترية للمقالات في المستودعات الرقمية الدولية، والنشر المجاني المتاح لجميع الباحثين في العالم عبر موقع المجلة.
