Fire Station: Artist In Residence Invites Artists to Apply for Paris Residency 2024

Doha: Fire Station: Artist in Residence launched today an open call, inviting artists to apply for a three-month residency at Cite Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. The 2024 Paris Residency programme will begin accepting applications from 12 November until 2 December 2024.

The Paris International Residency programme is intended to promote cultural exchange and provide Qatari artists with the opportunity to develop their artistic skills in the heart of Paris’ vibrant artistic scene. It supports residents by honing their artistic practice, whilst allowing them to network among international art communities and explore diverse cultural perspectives.

Director of Fire Station Khalifa Ahmad Al Obaidli expressed, “We are delighted to announce the commencement of the application process for Fire Station’s 2024 Paris Residency programme. Programmes such as these underline our commitment to forming strategic partnerships with organisations that contribute to the enrichment of the artistic landscape in Qatar. We look forward with great anticipation to witnessing the creative output from the next generation of our Paris Residency.”

Head of Programmes and Exhibitions of Fire Station Saida Al Khulaifi added: “Our Paris Residency programme presents a unique opportunity for artists to level-up their practice and broaden their horizons by immersing themselves in a different artistic environment. It also allows both established and aspiring artists in Qatar to embrace the international art community and actively participate in shaping the global artistic discourse. We take great pride in the ongoing success of the programme and look forward to welcoming the submission of applications for the first cycle of 2024.” Applications are open for Qatari artists and artists born to Qatari mothers. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and practice the art of painting, drawing, sculpture, media art, installation, graphic arts, illustration, photography, filmmaking, sound art, and design or a related discipline.

As part of the programme, the artist will be provided with a private furnished studio space with 24-hour access, with one bedroom and kitchenette, as well as living and materials allowances, and one return travel ticket.

In 2017, Fire Station began sponsoring Qatari artists to participate in the international residency programme at Cite internationale des arts, one of the most dynamic international residency programmes. The Paris Residency is one of many renowned residency programmes offered by Fire Station.

الدوحة: أعلنت /مطافئ: مقر الفنانين/ عن فتح باب التقدم للانضمام إلى برنامج الإقامة الفنية لمدة ثلاثة أشهر في المدينة الدولية للفنون في باريس، وسيبدأ البرنامج قبول الطلبات اعتبارا من 12 نوفمبر وحتى 2 ديسمبر المقبل.

يهدف برنامج الإقامة الفنية الدولية بباريس إلى تعزيز التبادل الثقافي، وإتاحة الفرصة للفنانين القطريين لتطوير وصقل مهاراتهم الفنية، بالإضافة إلى توفير فرصة للتواصل مع المجتمعات الفنية على مستوى العالم، واستكشاف وجهات نظر ثقافية متنوعة.

من جانبه، قال خليفة أحمد العبيدلي مدير مطافئ: “يسعدنا أن نعلن عن بدء عملية التقديم لبرنامج مطافئ للإقامة الفنية بباريس لعام 2024، وإننا نؤكد من خلال هذه البرامج على مدى حرصنا على عقد شراكات استراتيجية مع الجهات التي تسهم في إثراء المشهد الفني بقطر، ونتطلع لنكون شاهدا على الإنتاج الإبداعي للجيل القادم من برنامج الإقامة بباريس”.

وفي السياق، قالت سعيدة الخليفي رئيس قسم البرامج والمعارض في مطافئ: “يمثل برنامج الإقامة الفنية بباريس فرصة فريدة للفنانين يطورون فيها ممارساتهم، ويوسعون آفاقهم من خلال الانغماس في بيئة فنية مختلفة، كما يسمح للفنانين المتمرسين والناشئين في قطر على حد سواء بالانضمام إلى مجتمع الفن العالمي، والمشاركة بنشاط في تشكيل الخطاب الفني على مستوى عالمي، إننا فخورون جدا بالنجاح المستمر للبرنامج، ونتطلع بشوق إلى استقبال طلبات الدورة الأولى لعام 2024”.

والتقديم للبرنامج مفتوح للفنانين القطريين والفنانين المولودين لأمهات قطريات، ويجب أن لا يقل عمر المتقدم على 21 عاما، وأن يكون متمرسا في فنون الرسم والنحت وفن الوسائط والفن التركيبي والفنون الغرافيكية والرسوم التوضيحية والتصوير الفوتوغرافي، وصناعة الأفلام وفن الصوت والتصميم، أو أي تخصص ذي صلة.

تجدر الإشارة إلى أن الإقامة تشمل تزويد الفنان الذي وقع عليه الاختيار باستوديو خاص مجهز ومتاح على مدار 24 ساعة، فضلا عن مرافق ‏مشتركة، وزيارات دورية من قبل نقاد يحلون ضيوفا على الاستوديوهات الفنية، ‏فضلا عن زيارات للمتاحف والمعارض وغيرها من المساحات الثقافية.

جدير بالذكر أن /مطافئ: مقر الفنانين/ بدأ عام 2017 في رعاية الفنانين القطريين ليشاركوا في برنامج الإقامة الفنية الدولي في المدينة الدولية للفنون، وهو أحد برامج الإقامة الدولية الأكثر نشاطا، ويعد برنامج الإقامة الفنية بباريس ‏واحدا من برامج الإقامة الشهيرة والعديدة التي تقدمها مطافئ.
