‘Crystal Symphony’ Opens Qatar’s 2023/2024 Cruise Season

Doha: The luxury cruise ship, ‘Crystal Symphony,’ arrived in Doha, marking the opening of Qatar Tourism’s 2023/2024 cruise season. The new cruise season will run to April 2024 and is expected to welcome 81 cruise calls and approximately 350,000 passengers, making it the country’s biggest cruise season yet.

Cruise ships such as Norwegian Dawn and Le Bougainville will be making their debut in Qatar this season, with both ships operating as full homeporting vessels embarking from Doha. Norwegian Dawn boasts a passenger capacity of 2,340, while Le Bougainville can accommodate around 264 passengers. Additionally, several other ships will continue to offer partial turnaround services from Doha, including Mein Schiff 2, MSC Virtuosa and Costa Toscana.

HE Chairman of Qatar Tourism, Saad Bin Ali Al Kharji, said: “Cruise tourism is an important pillar through which Qatar will fulfil its national tourism strategy to become one of the world’s leading destinations. Qatar’s cruise sector has grown strongly in less than a decade, owing to Qatar Tourism’s presence in international cruise and travel exhibitions, signed partnerships and agreements, investments in personnel and our collaboration with important public and private stakeholders in Qatar. We look forward to a new cruise season with visitors from around the world who will have the opportunity to experience Qatar’s hospitality and diverse tourism offering.” HE CEO of Mwani Qatar, Capt. Abdullah Mohammed Al Khanji, has stated that “with the start of the new season, our focus continues on providing the best possible experience to passengers by improving cruise facilities and enhancing world-class services in the State of Qatar, in accordance with the Ministry of Transport’s strategic plan aimed to make Qatar a preferred destination for cruise travelers in the region. In cooperation with stakeholders, we have established a pioneering infrastructure in the cruise ship sector to provide high-quality services in compliance with the highest global standards while also contributing to the necessary infrastructure to handle the large influx of cruise ship passengers”.

“The new cruise terminal in the old Doha Port meets international standards and plays a significant role in promoting global marine tourism. It also helps consolidate Qatar’s position and maximize the growth of the tourism sector, which is one of the pillars of economic diversification that the Qatar National Vision 2030 aims to achieve. We are expecting to receive 81 cruises operated by 11 cruise lines during the new season, reinforcing Qatar’s position on the global cruise tourism map”, he added.

Qatar has seen a steady increase in cruise ship arrivals and passenger numbers over the years. The 2022/23 cruise season concluded with a 151% increase in visitors compared to the previous season, with 54 cruise visits and 253,191 cruise visitors.

Cruise passengers arriving to Qatar through Doha Port are welcomed in a brand-new Grand Terminal that features state-of-the-art facilities. It can accommodate two megaships at a time and up to 12,000 people a day, ensuring seamless operations.

Upon exiting the terminal, passengers find themselves by the Mina District, an all-round destination where visitors can enjoy plenty of restaurant options, retail outlets, and a stunning promenade that makes the most of the city’s iconic skyline.

الدوحة: وصلت السفينة السياحية الفاخرة “كريستال سيمفوني” إلى الدوحة إيذانا بافتتاح موسم قطر للسياحة للرحلات البحرية 2023 / 2024 ، الذي يستمر حتى شهر أبريل 2024 حيث من المتوقع استقبال 81 زيارة لبواخر بحرية وحوالي 350 ألف راكب، الأمر الذي يجعله الموسم الأكبر للرحلات البحرية في قطر على الإطلاق.

وأفاد بيان لقطر للسياحة اليوم، بأن موسم الرحلات البحرية الجديد من المتوقع أن يضاعف عدد زوار الرحلات البحرية قياسا بالموسم الماضي، ومن المقرر أن تكون الدوحة نقطة انطلاق وعودة للعديد من البواخر والسفن السياحية العالمية مثل السفينة النرويجية “داون” والتي تتسع لنحو 2,340 راكبا، وسفينة “لوغانفيل” التي تتسع لنحو 264 راكبا خلال هذا الموسم. بالإضافة إلى ذلك، ستواصل العديد من السفن الأخرى تقديم رحلات التحول الجزئي من الدوحة، منها سفينة “مين شيف 2” وسفينة “أم إس سي فيرتيوزا” والباخرة السياحية الإيطالية “كوستا توسكانا”.

وقال سعادة السيد سعد بن علي الخرجي، رئيس قطر للسياحة: “تعد سياحة الرحلات البحرية ركيزة حيوية تسعى قطر من خلالها إلى تحقيق استراتيجيتها الوطنية للسياحة لتصبح إحدى الوجهات السياحية الرائدة في العالم”، مشيرا إلى أن قطاع الرحلات البحرية في قطر شهد نموا ملحوظا في أقل من عقد من الزمان، وذلك بفضل مشاركة قطر للسياحة في المعارض الدولية للسياحة والسفر، وعقد الشراكات والاتفاقيات، وثقل مهارات الموظفين، والتعاون الوثيق مع الشركاء الرئيسيين في القطاعين العام والخاص في قطر.

وأضاف “نتطلع لعودة موسم الرحلات البحرية واستقبال الزوار من جميع أنحاء العالم الذين ستتاح لهم الفرصة لتجربة الضيافة الأصيلة والعروض السياحية المتنوعة التي تقدمها قطر”.

بدوره قال الكابتن عبدالله محمد الخنجي، الرئيس التنفيذي لمواني قطر: مع انطلاقة الموسم الجديد يستمر تركيزنا على تقديم أفضل تجربة ممكنة للركاب من خلال تحسين مرافق استقبال السفن السياحية وتعزيز الخدمات ذات المستوى العالمي في دولة قطر تماشيا مع الخطة الاستراتيجية لوزارة المواصلات الرامية لجعل قطر وجهة مفضلة لمسافري الرحلات البحرية في المنطقة.

وأضاف “لقد قمنا بالتعاون مع الجهات أصحاب المصلحة بتأسيس بنية تحتية رائدة في قطاع السفن السياحية لتقديم خدمات عالية الجودة تتماشى مع أرقى المعايير العالمية وتساهم في توفير البنية التحتية اللازمة للتعامل مع التدفق الكبير لركاب السفن السياحية”.

وأكد أن محطة السفن السياحية الجديدة بميناء الدوحة القديم وما تتميز به من معايير عالمية تساهم بدور رئيسي في تعزيز السياحة البحرية العالمية، فضلا عن ترسيخ مكانة قطر وتعظيم نمو قطاع السياحة الذي يعد أحد مرتكزات التنويع الاقتصادي الذي تسعى رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030 لتحقيقه، لافتا إلى أنه من المتوقع أن تستقبل محطة السفن السياحية 81 رحلة يديرها 11 خطا بحريا خلال الموسم الجديد، وهو ما يكرس موقع قطر على خريطة السياحة البحرية العالمية.

وشهدت قطر زيادة مطردة في عدد السفن السياحية التي رست في مينائها وفي أعداد زوار الرحلات البحرية على مر السنين، اذ حققت قطر نموا خلال موسم الرحلات البحرية 2022 /2023 بواقع زيادة قدرها 151? في عدد الزوار مقارنة بالفترة ذاتها من الموسم السابق، واستقبال 54 زيارة قامت بها بواخر سياحية و 253,191 زائرا من زوار الرحلات البحرية.

ويتم الترحيب بالسياح والمسافرين على متن الرحلات البحرية الذين يصلون إلى قطر عبر ميناء الدوحة في مبنى الركاب الجديد والضخم والذي يضم أحدث المرافق، وتستوعب محطة المسافرين الجديدة في ميناء الدوحة ما يصل إلى 12,000 مسافر يوميا، مما يجعل عمليات التنقل أكثر سلاسة.

وعند الخروج من مبنى الركاب، يجد المسافرون أنفسهم بالقرب من منطقة الميناء حيث يمكنهم الاستمتاع بمجموعة متنوعة من المطاعم والمتاجر الموجودة فيه بالإضافة إلى التنزه بجانب البحر ومشاهدة مناظر بانورامية خلابة لأفق الدوحة الرائع.
