NMoQ Hosts “Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa; Stories of Coffee in Qatar and Indonesia”

Doha: The National Museum of Qatar is home to a major Years of Culture exhibition exploring the history of coffee from Indonesia to Qatar. Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa; Stories of Coffee in Qatar and Indonesia, open now through Feb. 17, 2024, was organized in partnership with the National Museum of Indonesia to mark Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture.

HE National Museum of Qatar Director Sheikh Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Thani said, “The Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture is a testament to the power of shared narratives in fostering understanding and collaboration, something we see come through quite clearly through the ‘Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa’ exhibition. That extends to our shared traditions of hospitality, dialogue and creativity fueled by the practice of brewing, serving and sharing coffee.

The National Museum of Qatar is proud to host this milestone exhibition for the Qatar-Indonesia 2023 Year of Culture, which was created in partnership with the National Museum of Indonesia, the Embassy of Indonesia in Qatar, students who participated through the Ajial Altarbwy Center, and Qatar Museums internship program participants.” HE Indonesia’s Ambassador to Qatar Ridwan Hassan, said, “I am thrilled to witness the incredible cultural experience built by the talented teams at the National Museum of Qatar and the National Museum of Indonesia. There is a lot that binds Qatar and Indonesia together, made all the more stronger through the deeper exploration into each other’s cultures enabled during the Qatar-Indonesia Year of Culture.” Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa; Stories of Coffee in Qatar and Indonesia was made possible with assistance from Lead Sponsor Expo 2023 Doha with additional support from Partner & Partners.

“Through this partnership with Years of Culture, Expo 2023 Doha aims to solidify Qatar’s position as a global tourist destination,” said Mohammed Al Khouri, Secretary General of Expo 2023 Doha.

“This exhibition is a testament to the power of cooperation in curating narratives that resonate across cultures and generation,” he added, before concluding, “Through this partnership with Years of Culture, we aim to break new ground in celebrating the shared human experience with a green lens, in addition to promoting artistic and cultural sustainability.” Growing Kopi, Drinking Qahwa is organized in five thematic sections, ranging from growing to drinking coffee as part of shared traditions. The exhibition also explores topics ranging from sustainable farming to social and cultural development.

الدوحة: افتتح اليوم في متحف قطر الوطني معرض “القهوة في قطر والكوبي في إندونيسيا: قصة إنتاج ومذاق”، في إطار العام الثقافي /قطر – إندونيسيا 2023‏/، وبرعاية مبادرة الأعوام الثقافية، وبالشراكة مع متحف إندونيسيا الوطني، ويستكشف المعرض، المستمر حتى 17 فبراير المقبل، تاريخ القهوة بين إندونيسيا وقطر.

وقال سعادة الشيخ عبدالعزيز بن حمد آل ثاني مدير متحف قطر الوطني: “إن العام الثقافي قطر – إندونيسيا 2023 خير دليل على قدرة السرديات المشتركة على تعميق التفاهم والتعاون، وهو أمر نراه يتجلى بوضوح من خلال معرض “القهوة في قطر والكوبي في إندونيسيا: قصة إنتاج ومذاق”.

وأضاف: “يمتد ذلك إلى تقاليدنا المشتركة في الضيافة والحوار والإبداع التي تغذيها طريقة تحضير القهوة وتقديمها ومشاركتها”.

وتابع: “يفتخر متحف قطر الوطني باستضافة هذا المعرض التاريخي ضمن فعاليات العام الثقافي قطر – إندونيسيا 2023، بالشراكة مع متحف إندونيسيا الوطني، وسفارة إندونيسيا لدى قطر، والطلاب الذين شاركوا من مركز أجيال التربوي، والمشاركين في برنامج التدريب الداخلي في متاحف قطر”.

من جانبه، قال سعادة السيد رضوان حسن سفير جمهورية إندونيسيا لدى الدولة، في تصريحات خاصة لوكالة الأنباء القطرية /قنا/: “لدينا اليوم أحد الأحداث المهمة في قطر، ألا وهو العام الثقافي /قطر ـ إندونيسيا عام 2023/، حيث إن معرض /القهوة في قطر والكوبي في إندونيسيا: قصة إنتاج ومذاق/، الذي افتتح اليوم، يعد من أضخم المعارض الإندونيسية في قطر حتى الآن، والذي يحتضنه متحف قطر الوطني، هذا الصرح الذي ليس متحفا يحافظ على التراث والإرث لمدة زمنية طويلة فقط، لكنه أيضا مركز للتعليم، كما أن المعرض فرصة أيضا لتعميق الصداقة بين بلدينا، حيث إن إندونيسيا تتمتع بالكثير من الأشياء، فضلا على أن متاحف قطر احتضنت العديد من الأحداث المتعلقة بثقافتنا وصداقتنا”.

وأضاف: “يسعدني أن أشهد التجربة الثقافية المذهلة التي أبدعها فريقا متحف قطر الوطني ومتحف إندونيسيا الوطني الموهوبان.. فهناك الكثير يربط قطر وإندونيسيا، وقد توثق هذا الرباط عن طريق استكشاف ثقافات البلدين بشكل أعمق خلال العام الثقافي قطر – إندونيسيا”.

من جهته، قال السيد جاسم سعيد الكواري المتحدث الرسمي باسم متحف قطر الوطني، في تصريح مماثل لـ /قنا/: “يتضمن معرض /القهوة في قطر والكوبي في إندونيسيا: قصة إنتاج ومذاق/ خمسة أقسام متنوعة تتناول تاريخ زراعة البن وتجارته واحتساء القهوة في الوطن العربي وإندونيسيا، مع التركيز بشكل خاص على ثقافات القهوة التقليدية والمعاصرة في قطر وإندونيسيا، باستخدام معروضات تفاعلية، لافتا إلى أن المعرض يعرض أنواع القهوة وتاريخها والعادات والتقاليد بطريقة تحضيرها وتقديمها، والإبداع الذي عاصرته القهوة في قطر وإندونيسيا”.
