Qatar Ranked Ninth Globally on Global Electric Mobility Readiness Index

Doha: The Ministry of Transport announced that Qatar has ranked among top 10 global markets in electric vehicle readiness and came 9th on the latest report on global Electric Vehicle (EV) mobility; The ‘Global Electric Mobility Readiness Index (GEMRIX) 2023’ by Arthur D Little (ADL).

GEMRIX 2023, the 3rd edition of the study, expanded its scope to 35 markets across all continents making it the most comprehensive EV market readiness indicator available in the industry.

This accomplishment reflects the country’s commitment to enhancing sustainable mobility in step with the goals of Qatar’s National Environment and Climate Change Strategy and QNV2030.

With that in mind, the Ministry of Transport provided innovative, ecofriendly mobility solutions that back all aspects of development in Qatar. This comes within the framework of a comprehensive, integrated strategy developed by the MOT with the aim of gradual transition of public bus system to electricity to 100% by 2030. The percentage of operating e-buses has neared 70% supported by an integrated infrastructure for electric charging. This positions Qatar among the leading countries in the world in terms of having a zero-carbon transportation sector, which, in turn, results in lower energy consumption, lower harmful emissions, lighter carbon footprint, and better quality of life.

Enhancing these efforts, the MOT is currently in the process of studying the standards and specifications of EVs, in conjunction with the bodies concerned, seeking to put and approve the minimum technical specifications and safety standards of EVs, in addition to establishing a specialized center for inspecting and verifying EVs’ specifications conformity and issuing approval certificates required.

The MOT also launched the Autonomous Vehicles Strategy to regulate the terms and conditions of using such vehicles in Qatar, aiming to provide smart, and environmentally conscious transit systems. This enhances Qatar’s global position in terms of adopting e-mobility, supporting innovation, and keeping pace with ecofriendly mobility industry advancements.

الدوحة: أعلنت وزارة المواصلات، أن دولة قطر احتلت المرتبة التاسعة عالميا في مؤشر جاهزية التنقل الكهربائي العالمي /جيمريكس 2023/ الذي أصدرته /آرثر دي ليتل/ شركة الاستشارات الإدارية الرائدة على مستوى العالم.

ويشمل هذا المؤشر 35 سوقا في جميع القارات، ما يجعله الأكثر شمولا على مستوى الصناعة حتى اليوم.

وأكدت الوزارة، في بيان لها اليوم، أن هذا الإنجاز يعكس التزام دولة قطر بتعزيز التنقل المستدام، حيث استثمرت بكثافة في مشاريع النقل العام والبنية التحتية الخضراء لتوفير أنظمة نقل متكاملة وعالمية المستوى ومتعددة الوسائط تقدم خدمات نقل صديقة للبيئة، تماشيا مع أهداف استراتيجية قطر الوطنية للبيئة والتغير المناخي، وتحقيقا لرؤية القيادة الرشيدة وركائز رؤية قطر الوطنية 2030.

وانطلاقا من هذا الالتزام عملت وزارة المواصلات على توفير حلول نقل مبتكرة وصديقة للبيئة تدعم كافة جوانب التنمية التي تنتهجها الدولة، وتأتي في إطار استراتيجية شاملة ومتكاملة أعدتها الوزارة للتحول التدريجي لمنظومة حافلات النقل العام إلى حافلات كهربائية بنسبة 100% بحلول عام 2030، حيث وصلت نسبة تشغيل الحافلات الكهربائية إلى ما يقارب 70%، مزودة ببنية تحتية متكاملة تدعم نظام الشحن الكهربائي، مما يضع دولة قطر ضمن مصاف أعلى الدول تحقيقا لهذه النسب في قطاع النقل والمواصلات صفري الانبعاثات الكربونية بالعالم، ويحقق بذات الوقت منافع متعددة أهمها توفير استهلاك الطاقة والوقود، وتخفيض الانبعاثات الضارة والبصمة الكربونية للدولة، وبالتالي تحسين جودة الحياة.

وتعزيزا لهذه الجهود تقوم الوزارة بدراسة المعايير والمواصفات والمقاييس الفنية للسيارات الكهربائية بالتعاون مع الجهات المعنية بغرض وضع واعتماد الحد الأدنى من المواصفات الفنية ومعايير السلامة لهذا النوع من المركبات، وإنشاء مركز متخصص لفحص واختبار مدى تطابق مواصفاتها، وإصدار شهادات الاعتماد الخاصة بها، ويأتي ذلك إيمانا من الوزارة بالدور الريادي الذي ستلعبه السيارات الكهربائية.

كما أطلقت الوزارة استراتيجية المركبات ذاتية القيادة، لتنظيم شروط وأحكام استخدامات هذه المركبات داخل دولة قطر، بهدف توفير وسائل ونظم نقل ذكية صديقة للبيئة، مما يعزز من مكانة دولة قطر العالمية في اعتماد التنقل الكهربائي ودعم الابتكار ومواكبة تطورات قطاع النقل الصديق للبيئة.
