Qatar Maintains Regional Rank in Global Peace Index, Makes Progress Globally

Doha: The State of Qatar topped the states of Middle East and North Africa region once again in the Global Peace Index (GPI) issued by Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP) in Australia and ranked 21 globally out of 163 states included in the index advancing one place compared to 2022.

The GPI report counts on 23 indices in terms of quantity and quality, including level of security and safety in community, local and global conflict, rate of violence crimes, in addition to a combination of other indices, including internal and external affairs, deaths resulting from internal and external conflicts, weapons exports and terrorism, political instability and number of prisoners.

For the second consecutive year, Qatar has been ranked first as the most peaceful and secure country in the Arab world and ninth globally making it among the list of the ten safest countries in the world, as Qatar maintained its top position among the states of Middle East and North Africa region in GPI over the past five years and proceeded with its progress globally until it has been ranked 21 this year.

Over 2019 and 2022, Qatar has achieved advanced positions globally outperforming many advanced countries and occupied 31, 27, 29 and 22 positions throughout 2019 and 2022 respectively.

Topping the list of GPI at the level of Middle East and North Africa and achieving advanced ranks globally in this classification by the State of Qatar underscores the extent of security and safety Qatar enjoys, along with the decline in the rates of crimes and violence with the prevalence of political stability, as the country is free of internal and external terrorist activities and threats.

In the 2023 Global Peace Index, Qatar has been maintaining its position as the most secure country in the Middle East and North Africa region since 2008 and the only country in the region to be among the 25 safest countries at the global level.

Commenting on the aforementioned report, the Ministry of Interior pointed out that such advanced indices in GPI came by virtue of unwavering efforts anchored in an integrated working system at the ministry in collaboration with the remaining state institutions to ensure best security performance rates, combating crimes and protecting lives and property in conformity with Qatar’s vision and strategy.

The ministry pointed to the substantial progress Qatar witnessed at the service and security levels during the past years and the performance made in various international indices either through counting on a sophisticated infrastructure in its modern buildings, security systems that depend on cutting-edge technology, or in its vision and strategy that aim to foster societal partnership, in pursuit of safeguarding societal security and peace.

الدوحة: تصدرت دولة قطر مجددا دول منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا في مؤشر السلام العالمي الصادر عن معهد السلام والاقتصاد العالمي في أستراليا، فيما حلت بالمرتبة 21 عالميا من بين 163 دولة شملها المؤشر متقدمة بذلك مركزا واحد عن العام الماضي.

ويعتمد تقرير مؤشر السلام العالمي على 23 مؤشرا كميا ونوعيا، منها /مستوى الأمن والأمان في المجتمع، والصراع المحلي والعالمي، ومعدل جرائم العنف/، بالإضافة إلى مجموعة من المؤشرات الأخرى منها الشؤون الداخلية والخارجية للدول والوفيات الناجمة عن الصراعات الداخلية والخارجية، وصادرات الأسلحة والإرهاب، وعدم الاستقرار السياسي وعدد السجناء.

وللعام الثاني على التوالي، حلت دولة قطر في المرتبة الأولى عربيا والتاسعة عالميا في محور الدول الأكثر أمنا وسلاما مجتمعيا مما يجعلها ضمن قائمة الدول العشر الأكثر أمانا في العالم.

الجدير بالذكر أن دولة قطر حافظت على صدارتها لمنطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا في مؤشر السلام العالمي على مدى السنوات الخمس الماضية.. فيما واصلت تقدمها عالميا لتصل إلى المركز 21 المسجل هذا العام.

وعلى مدى السنوات 2019 و2022 سجلت دولة قطر مراكز متقدمة على المستوى العالمي، تفوقت بها على العديد من الدول المتقدمة، حيث احتلت المراكز 31 و27 و29 و 22 على مدى الأعوام 2019 و2022 على التوالي.

وبحسب التقرير، فإن تصدر قطر في مؤشر السلام العالمي على مستوى الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا وإحرازها مراتب متقدمة على المستوى العالمي في التصنيف يؤكد ما تتمتع به من الأمن والأمان، مع انخفاض مؤشرات معدل الجرائم والعنف، وتمتعها بالاستقرار السياسي، بالإضافة إلى خلوها من الأنشطة الإرهابية والتهديدات سواء كانت داخلية أو خارجية.

وجاء في مؤشر السلام العالمي لعام 2023 أنه لا تزال دولة قطر هي البلد الأكثر أمانا في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا منذ عام 2008، وأنها الدولة الوحيدة في المنطقة التي تعد من بين (25) دولة الأكثر أمانا على مستوى العالم.

وفي تعليقها على التقرير، نوهت وزارة الداخلية أن هذه المؤشرات المتقدمة في مؤشر السلام العالمي هي نتيجة جهد دؤوب يستند إلى منظومة عمل متكاملة بالوزارة بالتعاون مع بقية مؤسسات الدولة، بما يضمن تحقيق أفضل معدلات الأداء الأمني ومكافحة الجريمة وحماية الأرواح والممتلكات وتماشيا مع رؤيتها واستراتيجيتها.

وأشارت إلى التطور الكبير الذي شهدته قطر على المستوى الخدمي والأمني خلال السنوات الماضية، وما سجلته من أداء في مختلف المؤشرات الدولية، مستندة إلى بنية تحتية متطورة في مبانيها الحديثة أو في الأنظمة الأمنية المعتمدة على التكنولوجيا الحديثة، أو في رؤيتها واستراتيجيتها في تعزيز الشراكة المجتمعية بما يحفظ الأمن والسلام المجتمعي.
