90% of Karwa Taxis Now Eco-Friendly Hybrids

Doha, Qatar: Mowasalat (Karwa) has made a significant environmental move by replacing 90% of its taxi fleet with eco-friendly hybrid vehicles. This initiative aligns with Qatar’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions, protecting the environment, and addressing climate change.

Nasser Mamdouh Al Shammari, Operations Manager for Light Transport Services at Mowasalat (Karwa), explained, “We are gradually replacing our taxi fleet with hybrid cars because they are the most widely used vehicles.” Speaking to Al Rayyan TV, he mentioned that 90% of Karwa’s taxi fleet has already been transitioned to hybrid cars.

Al Shammari also noted that a substantial number of electric cars have been introduced to the limousine service, operated under Doha Limousine, and the complete fleet will soon be replaced with electric vehicles.

Mowasalat (Karwa) is committed to sustainable transportation and has electrified a significant portion of its bus fleet, resulting in zero emissions and minimal noise pollution. These electric buses are custom-built to handle Qatar’s specific street and weather conditions and are equipped with a 350 kWh lithium-ion battery, employing the latest and safest battery technology in the automotive industry, with a range of over 200km per full charge.

The company places a strong emphasis on safety, adhering to comprehensive safety standards and local inspection processes to ensure that both technical and operational aspects comply with regulations.

أشار الشمري أيضاً إلى أن عددًا كبيرًا من السيارات الكهربائية تم توفيرها لخدمة الليموزين، التي تعمل تحت اسم ليموزين الدوحة، وسيتم استبدال الأسطول بالكامل بالمركبات الكهربائية قريبًا.

تلتزم مؤسسة المواصلات العامة بتعزيز وسائل النقل المستدامة وقامت بتحويل جزء كبير من أسطول حافلاتها إلى حافلات كهربائية، مما أدى إلى عدم وجود انبعاثات واضطرابات صوتية محدودة. تم تخصيص هذه الحافلات الكهربائية بشكل كامل للتعامل مع متطلبات الشوارع وظروف الطقس في قطر وتزود ببطارية ليثيوم أيون بقوة 350 كيلووات في الساعة، باستخدام أحدث وأأمن تقنيات البطاريات المثبتة في صناعة السيارات، مع مدى يزيد عن 200 كيلومتر بعد كل شحنة كاملة.
