Forum of Journalism Colleges in Arab World Launches on Oct.14

Doha: The activities of the Forum of Arab Journalism Colleges will be held next Oct.14 in Doha and will continue for 3 days.

The forum is held in partnership between the Al Jazeera Media Institute (AJMI) affiliated with Al Jazeera Media Network (AJMN), Qatar University (QU), and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

In a press conference held Wednesday, Director of Al Jazeera Media Institute Iman Al Ameri confirmed that the forum represents a valuable opportunity for all its participants, including students, professors, academics, and representatives of media organizations, to exchange ideas and raise discussion on issues related to the topic of the forum.

Al Amiri added that the number of those registered to attend the forum reached nearly 100 academics and professors, and the institute also provided four scholarships for journalism students in the Arab world.

She indicated that, in conjunction with the organization of the forum, the “Media Creativity Award” will be launched for journalism students in various institutes and colleges in the State of Qatar, to discover the talents and creativity of students in various media disciplines such as digital journalism, radio, television, multimedia, public relations and advertising, where about 300 students competed for this award.
Regarding the details of the forum, Iman Al Ameri said that it will include four sessions, three presentations and two workshops, and explained that the number of speakers in the forum reached 29 speakers from academics and specialists, and some leaders at the level of local and Arab media institutions.

For his part, Head of the Media Department at Qatar University Dr. Wael Abdel Aal stressed that the university pays great and continuous attention to the development of academic curricula, and takes into consideration development plans to harmonize between knowledge, skills, practical application and keeping pace with labor market developments and the requirements of digital transformation and closely linking academic curricula with practice.

Director of the UNESCO office to the Gulf States and Yemen Salah Khaled said that since 2007, through its International Program for the Development of Communication (IPDC), UNESCO has published and continue to produce a series on journalism education that provides reporting curricula in tune with the issues of today, giving the tools to journalists and journalism educator to cover the most pressing issues of our time in a high-quality manner.

الدوحة: تنعقد يوم 14 أكتوبر المقبل بالدوحة فعاليات منتدى كليات الصحافة في العالم العربي وتستمر على مدار 3 أيام.

يقام المنتدى بالشراكة بين معهد الجزيرة للإعلام التابع لشبكة الجزيرة الإعلامية وجامعة قطر ومنظمة الأمم المتحدة للتربية والعلم والثقافة (يونسكو).

وفي مؤتمر صحفي عقد اليوم، أكدت السيدة إيمان العامري مديرة معهد الجزيرة للإعلام، أن المنتدى يمثل فرصة ثمينة لجميع المشاركين فيه من طلبة وأساتذة وأكاديميين وممثلي مؤسسات إعلامية لتبادل الأفكار وإثارة النقاش حول القضايا ذات الصلة بموضوع المنتدى.

وأضافت العامري أن عدد المسجلين لحضور المنتدى قد ناهز 100 أكاديمي وأستاذ، كما قدم المعهد أربع منح لطلبة الصحافة في العالم العربي.

وأشارت إلى أنه سيتم بالتزامن مع تنظيم المنتدى إطلاق “جائزة الإبداع الإعلامي” الموجهة لطلبة الصحافة في مختلف المعاهد والكليات بدولة قطر، لاكتشاف مواهب وإبداعات الطلبة في مختلف التخصصات الإعلامية، كالصحافة الرقمية، والإذاعة التلفزيون، والوسائط الإعلامية المتعددة، والعلاقات العامة والإعلان، وشهدت المسابقة مشاركة 300 طالب.

وعن تفاصيل المنتدى قالت إيمان العامري إنه سيتضمن أربع جلسات وثلاثة عروض تقديمية وورشتين، وأوضحت أن عدد المتحدثين في المنتدى بلغ 29 متحدثا ومتحدثة من الأكاديميين والمتخصصين، وبعض القيادات على مستوى المؤسسات الإعلامية المحلية والعربية.

من جهته، أكد الدكتور وائل عبد العال رئيس قسم الإعلام بجامعة قطر، أن الجامعة تولي اهتماما كبيرا ومستمرا بتطوير المناهج الأكاديمية، وتراعي خطط التطوير للمواءمة بين المعارف والمهارات والتطبيق العملي ومواكبة تطورات سوق العمل ومتطلبات التحول الرقمي والربط الوثيق بين المناهج الأكاديمية والممارسة العملية.

بدوره، قال السيد صلاح خالد، مدير مكتب اليونسكو لدول الخليج واليمن: “منذ عام 2007، ومن خلال برنامجها الدولي لتنمية الاتصال، نشرت اليونسكو ولا تزال تنتج سلسلة عن تعليم الصحافة توفر فيها مناهج إعداد التقارير بما يتماشى وينسجم مع قضايا اليوم، مما يوفر الأدوات للصحفيين ومعلمي الصحافة لتغطية القضايا الأكثر إلحاحا في عصرنا الحالي بطريقة مهنية عالية الجودة”.
