Mowasalat’s CEO Sets Two-Year Clean Energy Goal

Doha: CEO of Mowasalat Fahad Saad Al Qahtani has revealed a plan for a complete transition to clean energy in the State of Qatar within two years, pointing out that the use of e-buses in the public transport system has reached more than 70 percent, according to the Ministry of Transport’s plan for environmental sustainability.

In an interview with Qatari newspaper Al-Sharq published Monday, Mowasalat’s CEO said that there were around 909 e-buses, which were used during the World Cup, and were completely converted into the public transit system, out of a total of 3,000 buses dedicated to transporting fans during the World Cup only, adding that about 5,000 buses were operated during the tournament for hospitality and security services, as well as various other support services. Work is now underway in coordination with the relevant authorities to distribute charging stations in various areas in the country, in preparation to fully transition to the use of e-buses within a plan issued by the Ministry of Transport, he said, adding that this transition is expected to be reached within the next two years.

He pointed out that Mowasalat is working according to the highest standards and uses modern technology within the control rooms to communicate with its fleets and drivers everywhere, noting that the company is working in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education to transport 60,000 students daily, using 2,500 school buses equipped with all security and safety means.

Al Qahtani underlined that the path taken by the company for development was based on two main axes, which are the environmental sustainability and technology in general, which help the company achieve many leaps over the years, stressing that Mowasalat is part of the global events hosted by the country, which is considered an addition to the companys experience and development. The most recent of these events was the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, where company benefited greatly at the level of the workforce and building expertise in managing such mega events, and also at the level of infrastructure, he said, adding that after that Mowasalat achieved great and different progress, benefiting from these experiences and applying them in its system.

Regarding joint cooperation with various other entities within the country, he said that successes cannot be achieved except through joint cooperation with various sectors of the State, and there are contracts with government sectors that request various services from the company, as well as cooperation with the private sector, which is considered a strategic partner of Mowasalat, as most buses and light cars are brought from the private sector.

About the availability of transport services in areas outside Doha, the CEO of Mowasalat explained that today they have turned to smart solutions, where the public are able through the “Karwa Taxi” App to request the type of vehicle they need at any time and in any place, with more focus on tourist places in the country and the public location sites.

On the future plans and strategy of Mowasalat, Al Qahtani said that at Mowasalat, they seek to achieve clean public transportation that contributes to the development of sustainability in Qatar, and to increase digitization in all possible fields through available Apps, as well as the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the company’s systems, adding that a large part of sustainability is achieved by investing in employees, by providing a comfortable work environment that encourages them to continue for a long time, and providing them with residential, service and entertainment facilities, in addition to appropriate training, each according to his competence.

الدوحة: كشف السيد فهد سعد القحطاني، الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة /مواصلات/ عن خطة للتحول الكلي إلى الطاقة النظيفة في دولة قطر خلال عامين، لافتا إلى التوصل إلى نسبة تجاوزت 70 بالمئة من الحافلات الكهربائية في منظومة النقل العام، وفقا لخطة وزارة المواصلات في الاستدامة البيئية.

وقال الرئيس التنفيذي لـ/مواصلات/ في حوار مع صحيفة /الشرق/ القطرية نشرته اليوم: “كان لدينا ما يقارب 909 حافلات كهربائية، استخدمت أثناء بطولة كأس العالم، وتم تحويلها بالكامل إلى منظومة النقل العام من إجمالي 3 آلاف حافلة استخدمت في كأس العالم فقط لنقل الجماهير، حيث تم تشغيل ما يقارب 5 آلاف حافلة خلال بطولة كأس العالم في مختلف المجالات، منها خاصة بالضيافة وأخرى بالأمن وكذلك بمختلف الخدمات المساندة الأخرى، كما أن العمل قائم الآن بالتنسيق مع الجهات المعنية على توزيع الشواحن الكهربائية في مختلف مناطق الدولة، وذلك استعدادا للتحول الكامل إلى استعمال الحافلات الكهربائية ضمن خطة ” كيو بروس” التي أصدرتها وزارة المواصلات، ومن المتوقع أن نصل إلى ذلك التحول خلال العامين القادمين”.

وأضاف “أن /مواصلات/ تعمل وفق أعلى المعايير وتستخدم التكنولوجيا الحديثة في تعاملها داخل غرف التحكم للتواصل مع أساطيلها والسائقين في كل مكان، مشيرا إلى أنهم يعملون في مواصلات بالتعاون مع وزارة التربية والتعليم والتعليم العالي على نقل 60 ألف طالب يوميا، باستخدام 2500 حافلة مدرسية مجهزة بكافة وسائل الأمن والسلامة.

ولفت السيد القحطاني إلى أن المسار الذي اتخذته الشركة للتطوير كان مبنيا على محورين أساسيين وهما: الاستدامة البيئية والتكنولوجيا بشكل عام، وهو ما حقق للشركة قفزات عديدة على مر السنين، وفي كل مرحلة مع استضافة الدولة لأحداث عالمية كانت الشركة جزءا منه، وهو ما يعتبر إضافة لخبرة الشركة وتطويرها أيضا، وآخر حدث كان كأس العالم FIFA قطر 2022، حيث جرت الاستفادة منه كثيرا على مستوى القوى العاملة وبناء خبرات في إدارة مثل هذه الأحداث الكبيرة، وأيضا على مستوى البنية التحتية، وبعدها حققت /مواصلات/ تقدما كبيرا ومختلفا من هذه الخبرات وطبقتها في منظومتها.

وحول التعاون المشترك مع مختلف جهات الدولة الأخرى قال: “لا يمكن تحقيق النجاحات إلا بالتعاون المشترك مع مختلف قطاعات الدولة، ولدينا عقود مع القطاعات الحكومية التي تطلب منا خدمات مختلفة، وكذلك التعاون مع القطاع الخاص الذي يعتبر الشريك الاستراتيجي لدينا في مواصلات، حيث إن أكثر الحافلات والسيارات الخفيفة يتم جلبها من القطاع الخاص”.

وبخصوص مدى توفر النقل في المناطق خارج الدوحة أوضح الرئيس التنفيذي لشركة /مواصلات/: “اليوم تحولنا إلى الحلول الذكية، حيث يتمكن الجمهور من خلال تطبيق “تاكسي كروه” من طلب نوع المركبة التي يحتاجها في أي وقت وبأي مكان، ونركز أكثر على الأماكن السياحية في الدولة ومواقع تواجد الجمهور.

وحول الخطط المستقبلية واستراتيجية /مواصلات/ قال السيد القحطاني: “نسعى في شركة مواصلات لتحقيق نقل عام نظيف يساهم في تنمية الاستدامة في قطر، وزيادة الرقمنة في جميع المجالات الممكنة من خلال تطبيقاتنا المتوفرة، واستخدام الذكاء الاصطناعي في أنظمتنا. وجزء كبير من الاستدامة نحققه في الاستثمار بموظفينا، من خلال توفير بيئة عمل مريحة تشجعهم على الاستمرار لمدة طويلة، وتوفير المنشآت السكنية والمرافق الخدمية والترفيهية لهم، بالإضافة إلى التدريبات الملائمة، كل حسب اختصاصه.
